An Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raid at the house of an arrested Raigad Zilla Parishad Water Supplies Department executive engineer yielded around Rs. 13 lakh in cash, ACB sources said.
ACB Thane division’s Superintendent of Police Datta Karale told that executive engineer Pralhad G Birajdar, was arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from a contractor.
He said that a search on his person yielded Rs. 70,000 in cash.
The raiding team recovered Rs. 12.40 lakh in cash from his house besides 400 gm of golden ornaments.
The ACB team also found bank account passbooks in which they found entries to the tune of Rs 47 lakh, he said, adding that it is being verified by the Raigad unit of the ACB.
The total assets seized until is around Rs. 75 lakh, he said.
The engineer was produced in a local court and remanded to custody unti January 17, Karale said.
