Delhi police has received the medical board’s ‘advice’ on the FBI lab report on viscera samples of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, to identify the cause of her death.

“Have been told that Medical Board’s advice in late Sunanda’s case has been received,” Delhi Police commissioner BS Bassi said in a tweet.

Bassi added that Special commissioner of police (Law and Order) Deepak Mishra was reviewing the progress.

The Delhi Police received the final report of AIIMS in Sunanda death case. Sources said that the FBI report is almost on the same lines and in their report they have detected one more poison which is dangerous to heart.

Dr Sudhir Gupta in his report had said Polonium-210, a highly hazardous poison that might have been used to kill Sunanda. Po-210 is a rare and highly radioactive isotope that is not easily available and extremely hard to detect.

Ms Pushkar, 53, was married to former union minister Shashi Tharoor when she was found dead in a luxury hotel in Delhi in January 2014, days after she publicly accused him of having an affair with a Pakistani journalist.
The police registered a case of murder and has questioned Mr. Tharoor more than once; it has named no suspect. Mr. Tharoor, 59, has repeatedly stressed his cooperation with the investigation.

After the revelation, the noose will be tightened on Tharoor and he is likely to be questioned again in the death case, said Special Investigation Team sources.

The Delhi Police in November had shared the findings of an FBI report that virtually rules out the theory of ‘polonium poisoning’ causing her death.

“Radiation levels in Sunanda Pushkar’s viscera samples were “within the standard safety norms”,” Delhi Police had said.

The FBI report had virtually rules out the theory of ‘polonium poisoning’ having caused her death. However, after Delhi police failed to draw any conclusion on basis of the findings, the report was handed over to a medical board for examination before further proceedings in the high-profile case.

The investigators have so far conducted polygraph test on six persons, all prime witnesses in the case, including Tharoors’ domestic help Narayan Singh, driver Bajrangi and Sanjay Dewan, a close friend of the couple. Tharoor has been questioned in the case.
