Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has come out in support of sitting MLC and BJP rebel Ramnath Mote, who will fight the Konkan teachers constituency for the February 3 council polls on a MNS ticket.

President of party’s Sikshak Shikshaketar Sena Sanjay Chitre told reporters today that Mote, who has served as MLC for two terms, will fight the seat as a MNS nominee.

He said that Mote had met MNS chief Raj Thackeray some time back with a request to support him.

“During his 12 years tenure in the council, Mote has raised several issues related to teachers and schools despite the fact he belonged to the ruling party, and hence, we decided to support him,” added Chitre.

He apprised that MNS has nearly 5,000 members in Konkan region.
