A builder was shot dead in Diva township of Thane this morning, police said.
Builder Sandeep Patil (35) was walking on a road on his way to the office in Diva at around 10 AM when he was apprehended by three men who shot him at point-blank range, killing him on the spot, Mumbra police station inspector S M Mundhe said.
The assailants also attacked him with swords, he said.
The motive behind the killing was not immediately known, but it was suspected to be the fallout of a property dispute, he said.
Senior police officials from Thane rushed to the scene after getting information about the incident.
A probe into the killing is on, police said adding that a manhunt has been launched to nab the assailants.
