In a shocking incident, a woman government employee was seen being kicked, allegedly by her male colleague in Karnataka’s Raichur late last week.
The CCTV footage shows the man, Sharanappa, emerge from behind his desk and walk up to the visibly scared woman who tries to move away before he lands a kick. The shaken woman then picks up her bag and leaves the office.
Nasreen, working as a SDA in the corporation, was observing fast during Ramzan and is said to have turned up late for work. Since it was a weekend, minimal staff was asked to be present to clear workload.
In the video, Sharanappa, a computer operator hired on a contractual basis, is seen questioning her. Within minutes, he is seen kicking Nasreen.

The staff members were unaware about the incident until a complaint was filed by Nasreen, since the incident occurred on Saturday and majority of staff was not present in the office. “Sharanappa is a contractual employee and the Council had no idea about the incident. We came to know about it only after police informed that Nasreen has complained against Sharanappa,” a SCMC official said on the condition of anonymity. “Following the woman’s complaint, her male colleague has been dismissed and handed over to police,” he further added.
Manjula Patil, the President of the corporation said, “He is actually a decent man. The woman had not told us about any such incident taking place. We have learnt of it only now. We have dismissed him. He was on contract and the woman was an SDA, a permanent employee. What he did is wrong. He is currently in police custody. The woman is not telling us anything. It was a second Saturday and was a holiday and hence most of us were not in the office.”
On the other hand, the police said that this was not the first time Sharanappa had assaulted his colleague. Earlier also he has harassed many employees.
