CBI has registered a case against an officer of the agency, a Managing Committee member of Mumbai Cricket Association and a businessman for allegedly weakening a case.

CBI sources said the agency has registered a case against its Deputy SP Uday K More, the Managing Committee Member of Mumbai Cricket Association, Navin Krishna Shetty, and businessman Rahul Bhumawat for alleged graft.

A CBI spokesperson said here today that it was alleged that an MCA member, in conspiracy with DSP, was engaging in corrupt activities in the affairs of various central government departments, including CBI, and exercising personal influence on public servants for such activities.

The sources said that More allegedly received bribe to the tune of nearly Rs 20 lakh for allegedly favouring Bhumawat in a case related to the State Trading Corporation which was probed by him. Shetty was allegedly the middleman in the deal, they said.

“Searches were conducted at 10 locations in Mumbai, including at the office and residence of the accused persons. During this exercise, incriminating documents, cash and pen drives were recovered,” the spokesperson said.
