Centre-hikes-LPG-subsidy-9-12Within minutes of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi urging Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to increase the LPG subsidy from nine to 12 cylinders, the Congress leader found his request fulfilled by the Oil Ministry.

The Cabinet will meet next week to formalise the increase in the number of subsidised LPG cylinders.
Rahul’s demand for an increase in LPG subsidy was backed by Union Minister V Narayanasamy who said he will put forth demand to the Prime Minister personally.

“I appeal to the Prime Minister to raise the bar of LPG usage from 9 cylinders to 12 cylinders,” Rahul had said while addressing the AICC meet.

The decision to lower LPG cylinder cap was taken exactly one year back on January 17, 2013.
