On the occasion of NCP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal’s birthday, sweets and fruits were distributed to blind and handicapped children in Jawhar taluka, Palghar. What is Bhujbal’s intention behind indulging in charity work when he is imprisoned for corruption charges? When Bhujbal was in power he was known as the most ruthless and corrupt minister and hardly did any charity work. Now since Bhujbal is languishing in jail he might be doing charity work to prove his innocence. When politicians are in power they seldom think about charity work but now Bhujbal is indulging in this act to restore his image.

Various social activities were organised on the occasion of Bhujbal’s birthday. Health camps, blood donation camps, providing financial assistance to family members of deceased farmers, offering books to orphanage children, providing assistance to those institutions working for the welfare of handicapped persons, distribution of fruits to hospitals and even food grains were distributed. These activities were undertaken under the leadership of Samata Parishad leader Bapu Bhujbal.

Prashant AVPrashant Wasnik, BSP activist said, “People think that they can wash their sins by simply feeding pigeons at Kaburkhana, Dadar, but it is merely an act of superstition. Some people visit Kashi after killing cats. What is the purpose behind visiting a holy place after committing the sin? Bhujbal won’t gain anything by distributing fruits and sweets on the occasion of his birthday. Since he is already accused of indulging in corruption hence he won’t derive anything through this act.”

paksal AVPaskal Dhanare, BJP MLA said, “Even though Bhujbal is facing corruption charges but he has taken a right step for the welfare of blind and handicapped children. Tomorrow if Sonia Gandhi too indulges in charity work, I will support her.”

Amit Ghode AVAmit Ghoda, Shiv Sena MLA said, “Chhagan Bhujbal is a renowned political leader and his supporters might have done some charity work on his behalf which is laudable. He already is paying a heavy price for his involvement in corruption activities. Bhujbal might have done some work for the welfare of his supporters; hence they have come forward to support him in this hour of crisis.”

Dipika Chavan AVDipika Chavan, NCP MLA said, “Bhujbal is a good leader and if his supporters are performing charity work then we should appreciate it. When Bhujbal was holding Deputy Chief Minister’s post at that time his supporters used to celebrate his birthday in a grand manner. Supporters have not forgotten him.”
