CISF Constable Kulwinder Kaur: A Lesson for Loose Cannons?

Newly elected BJP MP Kangana Ranaut entered Chandigarh airport with her staff. During a security check, the constable of the CISF slapped Kangana on the face before Kangana could realise that the action had its reaction too.

In her madness to support the BJP, Kangana not only criticised anyone who spoke out against the government’s policies but also insulted them by calling them terrorists or traitors. To become Modi’s flatterer, she mortgaged her conscience and did whatever came to mind. Her provocative statements and tweets were filled with venom. Most of the time, she engaged in hate speech.

Kangana may have won the election and entered active politics, but it is important to note that people have not forgotten her sins. The daughter of the protesting mother slapped Kangana hard. This is more than just an ideological conflict; it is a battle for self-esteem. The BJP has failed by oppressing farmers, but now the accounts of those who spoke nonsense are being settled.

Newly elected BJP MP Kangana Ranaut entered Chandigarh airport with her staff. During a security check, the constable of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) slapped Kangana on the face before Kangana could realise that the action had its reaction too. The incident happened when Ranaut was in the security check area. Kaur said her mother had participated in the 2020–21 protest by farmers against (now-scrapped) three farm laws.

The CISF constable’s father and brother are farmers. She belongs to a farmer family and for two years she has seen the pain of protesters. Kaur was upset with Kangana over her comment in December 2020 that people were willing to join the protest for as little as Rs 100. Constable never thought that she would get this opportunity in her life. Without fearing the consequences, she took advantage and hit Kangna straight on the face, giving a loud message that no one would be spared.

Kangana took to social media, then filed a FIR against Kaur. Soon after this incident, the CISF constable was suspended. After reaching Delhi, Ranaut fumed about “terrorism rising in Punjab.” After the tight slap, Kangana still does not understand that she has no right to hurt the sentiments of the people. She made a video calling a suspended constable a terror threat.

In 2020, Ranaut misidentified a woman farmer from Punjab who was taking part in the protests and called her Bilkis Bano, an elderly woman who had become one of the faces of the anti-Citizenship Amendment Law (CAA) protests earlier in Shaheen Bagh. This had triggered a much-talked-about exchange on X between her and singer-actor Diljeet Dosanjh.

Then, in February 2021, reacting to support for the protests by international pop sensation Rihanna, Ranaut called the agitators “terrorists” and said they were trying to divide India. Replying to a post on X by Rihanna, Ranaut called the singer a “fool” and said, “No one is talking about it because they are not farmers; they are terrorists who are trying to divide India so that China can take over our vulnerable, broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like the USA… Sit down, you fool; we are not selling our nation like your dummies.”

When an X user pointed to a 2019 tweet by Ranaut in which she had appeared to express her appreciation for Rihanna, the actor responded, saying she had taken over the account only recently and did not listen to English music much. Both the Rihanna and Rs. 100 posts were later deleted by Ranaut. The farm laws were repealed in December 2021 and days later, the actor’s car was stopped in Punjab’s Kiratpur Sahib by protesters demanding an apology for her statements against farmers. She was allowed to go after she spoke to a few protesters.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) took cognizance of the incident and condemned the actions of the woman CISF constable but they were brutally mute on the insult of an old lady who was agitating for the rights of the farmers. Many members of civil society stood in solidarity with the CISF constables. Some offered her a job and some offered her financial help. The think tanks look at it as a civil war, their reply to the atrocities done by the power players. Kangana was the nastiest among all the BJP trolls. People have started giving befitting replies to these loose cannons. The time has come for leaders of the ruling BJP to learn to be sensitive and humble towards people.
