The sessions court here today rejected an application seeking action for ‘perjury’ (lying before the court) against Deputy Inspector General of Police Sunil Paraskar who is facing the accusation of sexual assault by a Mumbai-based model.

Judge Vrushali Joshi rejected the plea made by the model.

The woman had said in her application that Paraskar, while seeking anticipatory bail, told the court that in the past she had been arrested in a case related immoral trafficking and she filed the rape case against him to take revenge.

But in reality she was the complainant in that case, not an accused, she said.

Meanwhile, the court today directed suburban Chembur police and Mumbai crime branch to file reply to the application filed by the woman’s lawyer seeking cancellation of Paraskar’s anticipatory bail on the ground that he tried to threaten her (the lawyer).

Advocate ChitraSalunke today filed the application alleging that on August 19 a man had visited her and offered Rs 10 lakh on behalf of Paraskar. Later he threatened her.

On August 12, the court granted pre-arrest bail to Paraskar.

According to the complainant woman, Paraskar molested and sexually assaulted her on two occasions in December 2013.
