Aam Aadmi Party’s senior leader Kumar Vishwas, accused by a party volunteer of not rebutting “rumours” about an illicit liaison with her and ruining her reputation, did not appear before the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday.

However, the high-voltage drama that unfolded during DCW press conference grabbed more eyeballs than Kumar Vishwas’ absence.

As Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh almost finished her press conference, a dramatic twist took place when another commission member, sitting next to Singh, told the media personnel that it was the case of political conspiracy against Kumar Vishwas.

After DCW chief Barkha Singh said she had issued fresh summons to the AAP leader over the controversy, another member Juhi Khan began arguing with her in presence of the cameras.

Khan accused Barkha Singh of politicising the case and stormed out of the press conference. She claimed that Vishwas was innocent and he was being unlawfully framed in the incident by Barkha Singh, a Congress member.

However, Barkha claimed that Khan was being biased towards Vishwas as she herself has been an AAP volunteer. Juhi accepted that she is an AAP supporter but maintained that Barkha was trying to gain political mileage from the case. Shukla claimed that Khan was sent by AAP to sabotage the press conference.

AAP leader Kumar Vishwas has come under fire after a party volunteer has alleged that rumours are being spread that she had an affair with him. The Delhi Commission for Women had summoned Vishwas over the matter.
