Don’t mix politics and religion

Kamal Hasan AVActor Kamal Haasan has created a furore by alleging that terror has spread in right wing too. In the Tamil weekly, Ananda Vikatan, Haasan has mentioned that earlier Hindu right only used to involve in debates with other religious group. He added that once this approach started failing they have resorted to muscle power. According to him, extremism has spread among Hindus. “Hindus are losing faith in ‘satyameva jayate’ and instead subscribing to ‘might is right’, he further said. BJP has criticised Kamal’s remark and sought an apology from him. BJP spokesperson said that peace is prevailing in the country as Hindus are in majority.

Of late Kamal Haasan has been grabbing headlines for his controversial comments. Haasan’s statements have come at a time when his fans and political parties are keenly awaiting an announcement to be made by him on November 7 which is his birthday. Earlier Kamal had stated that his ideologies are left and his colour is black. He had recently extended support to the crew of Tamil film ‘Mersal’, starring Vijay. BJP had raised objections to references being made in the film about Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Digital India. The party had demanded deletion of the scenes saying ‘incorrect references’ had been made about the tax regime.

Chetan Bhagat AVChetan Rajhans, spokesperson of Sanatan Sanstha said, “If Kamal Haasan feels that Hindu terror is increasing then he must appeal to the state government and they will form a committee to investigate this matter. He should refrain from making controversial statements. Hinduism believes in equality and is tolerant towards other religions.”

Noorjahan AVNoorjehan Safia Niaz, founder Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan said, “There are several groups that are working for promoting terrorism in the country. They are spreading terror in the name of religion. This issue is not concerned about religion and it is about an ideology. Some people are also spreading terror in the name of Christianity and the common people have to suffer due to this. The common man is already facing huge hardships. There should not be politics in the name of terrorism as nobody will benefit out of it. I don’t know why Kamal Haasan has issued this statement as it his view.”

Dalip Ahil AV1Dalip Tahil actor said, “I don’t want to make comment on Kamal Haasan’s statements. It is true that terrorism has increased in the country and across the world. However, we can’t hold one community responsible for it.”

 

Kishori Shahane AVKishori Shahane, Marathi actress said, “Hindu outfits should work for the welfare of the people and refrain from issuing political statements. There is a need to bring changes in the country and we should work towards it. Our nation is facing severe problems today. I don’t want to make any comment about statements made by Kamal Haasan. Religious outfits should not make political statements and work for welfare of the society.”
