Case registered against Smita Bhoir, Assistant Commissioner of the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) for forging documents.
The Vasai Gaon Police have registered an FIR against an assistant commissioner of the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC), Smita Bhoir for fabricating the rubber stamp of the Vasai police station to help builders. As Bhoir failed to submit the proof of the developer’s guilt, the Vasai police had approached the civic administration. During investigation it was found that Bhoir had fabricated the rubber stamp of the Vasai police on August 19, 2014, and given a clean chit to the builders.
In August 2014, Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) Commissioner Smita Bhoir filed a police case against two developers Majid Qureshi and Farid Sayyed under the MRTP Act for illegal constructions in Malonde village of Vasai. The next day Bhoir allegedly asked the police to quash the FIR saying that the developers had produced the necessary documents.
The civic administration had in October, issued a show cause notice to Bhoir. On Friday, the Vasai Gaon police booked Bhoir for cheating and fraud. Still no action has been taken against Bhoir by the civic administration.
Prior to this, Neelam Nijhai, Assistant Commissioner of the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC), was booked for allowing residential buildings to come up in Virar using forged documents. Nijhai has been accused of turning a blind eye to over 50 buildings that came up in 2008 on a plot reserved for playground at Manvelpada in Virar (East).
The buildings were constructed after forging commencement certificates (CC). A complaint was filed with the Virar police by a government doctor, Anil Yadav. VVMC Assistant Commissioner Sudhakar Sankhe too was suspended for allowing illegal constructions in the region.
Hundreds of residential buildings in Vasai and Virar had come up using forged CCs. The civic administration has also issued a show-cause notice to Assistant Commissioner Smita Bhoir in the illegal residential complex cases.
Both the lady commissioners were booked for forgery and corruption, but sources in VVCM said that the corporation has become den of corruption and the nexus between builders and authorities will find different means and ways to keep their business flourish.
