Saffron brigade ‘Ranaragini’ requested the police to block Varma’s twitter account permanently and arrest him immediately.
Bollywood film director Ram Gopal Varma has always grabbed headlines for his controversial tweets on social networking sites. This time too the scenario was no different as Varma received flak for the comments posted by him against Sunny Leone on social media. Ranaragini, the Women’s Branch of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has come forward to file a complaint against Varma for the provocative tweet on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The outfit said that Varma is indulging in these acts to gain cheap publicity.
In his tweet Varma posted, “The pleasure, which Sunny Leone gives to men should be given by all women to the men.”

Even netizens too criticised Varma for the statements made by him and demanded an apology from him. Vishakha Mhambrey of Ranaragini’, a women’s branch of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has lodged a complaint with the Mapusa Police Station in Goa, in presence of women from various organisation against Verma.
“Through this objectionable tweet Ram Gopal Varma has insulted women’s prestige in the society. Varma is a distortion himself for the entire human race. Entire film industry should boycott him. Similarly, to teach a lesson to such a distorted film producer and uphold the respect for women, the films made by him should be boycotted. This appeal is being made by ‘Ranaragini’,” said Vishakha Mhambrey.
“Since the comment is posted on internet tweet and is open to all it is also an independent act to harm ordinary women and defame them. Thus offence is committed under cyber crimes against women,” added Vishakha.
She urged the police to register an offence against Varma under Cyber law for victimisation of women under section 292 of the Indian Penal Code. She also requested the police to block Varma’s twitter account permanently.
Pratiksha Korgaonkar, State Organiser of Ranaragini said, “Ram Gopal Varma should tender public apology to all women for his hateful statement. Otherwise the Ranaragini will take to streets against him. Varma identifies only Sunny Leone among all women. However, time has come to show him that the same woman can transform herself in a warrior woman like Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi.”
Actor Sunny Leone — who was mentioned in RGV’s tweet nonetheless remained unaffected by the tweet and replied with a smiley.

Later Ram Gopal Varma issued a clarification on twitter and said, “All you illiterates who didn’t understand my earlier two tweets on Sunny Leone. Atleast go through dictionary unless you are uneducated for that too. Sunny doesn’t have millions following because of her body as 1000’s of women have great bodies. Her greatness is in standing by her pride. People criticising my tweets are hypocrites.”
