A major fire broke out early on Wednesday morning at a chawl situated in Bandra where a few tenements were gutted in the blaze, officials said.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the mishap which occurred at the chawl in Behram Nagar in Bandra (east).
“We received a call at around 4 AM today (regarding the blaze) and 10 fire engines along with water tankers were pressed into action immediately to douse the flames,” a fire brigade official said.
Nearly 3-5 tenements were gutted in the blaze, he said, adding that the fire was contained to a small area by the fire brigade personnel and the flames were doused by 8 AM.
The loss of property and cause of the fire were being ascertained, he said.
