Former Shiv Sena MP from Pune, Gajanan Babar joined the BJP, ahead of the civic polls scheduled in Maharashtra next month.
Babar joined BJP in the presence of state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Pune Guardian Minister Girish Bapat, party MLA Bala Bhegade said.
Babar has a good network in area of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, which is going to the polls next month.
PCMC is currently controlled by NCP, but in the recent past some of its local leaders joined the BJP.
With Babar’s induction, BJP’s prospects look better, party spokesperson Kanta Nalawade said.
Babar hails from Kikali, a village in Satara district.
