In a new directive issued by Maharshtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis led government, now all the multiplexes in the state will have to show Marathi film everyday in the prime time slot which is from 6 to 9 pm.

The government has made it mandatory to screen a Marathi movie in one hall of all multiplexes between 6-9pm every day.

This is a part of the new BJP-led government’s initiative of ‘Make in Maharashtra’ campaign. Following the benefits offered by the Maharashtra government, several private companies have come forward to take Marathi films globally in an organised manner.

The move has come apparently to give Marathi films global exposure.

However, it has been learnt that the film industry is not too happy with this decision. But Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh who made his Marathi debut with ‘Lai Bhaari’ has supported it on Twitter calling it a welcome news.

The ‘Make in Maharashtra’ initiative is on the similar lines as ‘Make in India’ campaign.
