Gujarat’s Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on Monday has used social media website Facebook to ask BJP leaders to relieve her of duties, as she turns 75 soon.

Anandiben Patel will turn 75 on Novermber 21 and so she expressed her view in the post.

She said on the post, “Today once again I have sent a letter to the top brass of the party requesting I be allowed to step down as chief minister” Patel said.

“I have been a committed BJP worker for the past 30 years. I am indebted to the leadership to have elevated me from Mahila Morcha to Chief Minister. I have been in charge of important departments in the government for the past 18 years. I am going to be 75 years old in November. The very important Vibrant Gujarat Summit is being held in January 2017 and elections are due later in the year. It is good for a new leadership to organise and plan these two big events. Two months ago, I had sought to be relieved,” Patel said in her FB post.

Her latest worries follows last year protests by the Patidar community over reservation demand and the arrest of its leader Hardik Patel. The agitation from the dominant community had cost the BJP in local bodies’ election, wherein it suffered a jolt in the rural areas for the first time in one decade.
