Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has “completely recovered” and it is now up to her to decide when to go home, Chennai’s Apollo hospital Chairman Pratap C Reddy said on Friday.

“All I can say is, very clearly, she is very satisfied…What I mean by very satisfied, that means she has completely recovered. She is aware of what is going on around her,” he said.

“She is completely aware of what is happening. Asks and demands what she wants and I believe and everybody, even she, is looking forward when she will go home and take back the reins,” he said.

Exuding confidence that she will soon resume her public service, the party had on Wednesday said that she has “progressed well” and “started living a normal life.”

Jayalalithaa was admitted to the Apollo Hospital on September 22 after she complained of fever and dehydration. Later the hospital said she was being treated for infection with respiratory support among others.

According to Apollo, a team of specialists like cardiologists, respiratory physicians, consultants for infectious diseases, diabetologist and endocrinologist treated Jayalalithaa, who was put on respiratory support and required a longer stay at the hospital as she had an infection.

Reacting to the development, AIADMK leader C R Saraswathi said, “We are so happy, everyone has prayed for Amma because they love her so much.”

Apollo Hospital had last issued a medical report on Ms Jayalalithaa’s health on October 21. Doctors had said her condition had improved but she needed a longer stay at the hospital as she had infection and was on respiratory support.
