Iin a tragic incident, a man died after he tried to ablaze his girlfriend, however she held him tight, killing him. The shocking incident took place in Mumbai’s Jogeshwari area. Following the incident the police have registered a case against the accused who is now dead, while the woman is battling for her life at a JJ hospital in Mumbai.
According to information by DCP Mahesh Reddy, the alleged incident occurred on February 6 at the woman’s residence in Gandhi Nagar, Jogeshwari East. The accused and the victim knew each other for over two and a half years and wanted to get married. However the woman’s family refused the proposal as he often got drunk and harassed her.
The accused who has been identified as Vijay Khambe on February 6, visited the woman’s house with a bottle of petrol, poured it on her, and set her on fire. However, as soon as the girl caught fire, she held Khambe tight, setting him on fire as well, and the two left the house. Later the neighbours doused the fire and took the duo to the hospital. Khambe succumbed to his injuries on Saturday evening while undergoing treatment at the hospital
Based on the complaint by the woman’s brother, the police have registered a complaint against Khambe. Further investigations are on.
