This time Bacchu Kadu receives flak for addressing Sachin Tendulkar as pigeon as he issues a clarification for the same.
Bacchu Kadu an independent MLA from Maharashtra has always grabbed headlines for his aggressive style of functioning. He has often taken up social causes affecting the lives of common man and asked bureaucrats to follow transparency while discharging their duties. However, this time around Kadu went a step ahead by addressing former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as pigeon.
Kadu nonetheless issued a clarification that his statement has been misquoted and said, “I only had mentioned about Sachin Tendulkar to voice my concerns about the plight of farmers. However, I have high regards for Tendulkar who has made the entire nation proud by scoring runs. I had never intended to insult Tendulkar who is already an icon and followed by youth. However, I will continue to fight for the rights of farmers.”
Earlier Kadu had said that citizens of this country are more interested in the runs scored by cricketers but doesn’t show any concern for farmers who have to commit suicide due to financial problem.
“There are many people in this country to count every run scored by Sachin Tendulkar but nobody cares for the farmers who work in their field daily. Many of them count the runs scored by him from lanes till Delhi. People should stop thinking about the runs scored by Sachin. Anyone can hit fours and sixes but fans are celebrating as if India had defeated Pakistan,” said Kadu.
Netizens had criticised Kadu for passing comments against Tendulkar.
Ritvik Sen an accountant from Kandivali said, “Everyone has highest regard for Sachin Tendulkar. However, politicians should not insult a cricketer like Tendulkar who has scored many runs for the nation.”
Sumit Jain a Borivali resident said, “Mr Kadu has often been known for making controversial statements. Earlier he had said that actress Hema Malini drinks heavily but she doesn’t commit suicide yet.”
Bachu had received flak for passing comments against Hema Malini. He had then clarified that he was talking about Hema Malini’s drinking “in films and not in her personal life.”
The legislator was arrested last year for allegedly assaulting an official at the state secretariat here. The secretariat staff had gone on strike demanding action against him. Kadu is already popular among people for the various agitations undertaken by him in support of the common man.
