As per a RTI application filed by activist Anil Galgali a land measuring 2000 Sq mtrs has been allotted to the BJP MP and yester year actress Hema Malini for a paltry sum of Rs 70,000/= (@ Rs 35/= per sq meters). The land currently is valued in crores. Former Congress MP and current IPL Chairman, Rajeev Shukla too had been a similar beneficiary and the issue had generated enough Hema Maliniheat forcing the Shukla family controlled BAG company to return the allotted plot. Another interesting twist to the Hema issue is that, she is yet to fulfill the financial compliances and also return a previously allotted land.

The allotment executed in 2016 has been done on the rate of valuation based on 1st February, 1976, which was Rs 140 per sq mtrs. The land allotment has been done at the 25% rate of Rs 140 which works out to Rs 35 per sq mtrs. Previously Hema was allotted a land at Versova village of the same Andheri taluka on 4th April, 1997 for which a payment of Rs 10 lakhs was made. But since a portion of that land was affected with Coastal Regulation Zone norms Hema Malini had not undertaken any construction on the land. Also as per the terms of that agreement she was supposed to raise 25 per cent of that project cost, which was never done till date. Inspite of the track record, the state government acted benevolently and allotted an alternative land for her.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Anil Galgali had questioned that, one hand the BJP government is planning to take back the reserved lands allotted to various organizations and on the other hand it is allotting a prime land, reserved for constructing to its MP Hema Malini and allowing the construction of a Dance Academy.
