A 28-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by four people, including a friend she met on Facebook.
She came to Bhopal with him to appear for an exam on April 26 when she was taken to a rented accommodation and gangraped.
Her Facebook friend brought along three others, forced her to consume a cocktail of alcohol and tranquilisers and sexually assaulted her even as she tried to fight back her attackers in drugged stupor.
The accused then shot her in the nude, clicked pictures in the act and blackmailed her. The woman was forced to cough up money to protect her privacy for several months till she broke down and went to police.
The four men, all residents of Damoh district, were charged with gang rape. The case diary was transferred to Govindpura police station in the city on Friday as the crime spot was a rented accommodation at Bharti Niketan here. Accused are still on the run.
The rape survivor, who holds MA and BEd degrees, was preparing for a competitive exam, besides teaching at a school in home town Damoh, when she came in contact with main accused Sandeep Goswami on Facebook. He began visiting her in guise of a teacher and befriended her, said police.
In April, the duo came to Bhopal. Goswami’s three friends, Hariom Pandey, Anshul and Rohit also joined him at a rented place. After she lost consciousness on consuming intoxicants, she was gangraped. She tried to escape, but she was again forced to consume liquor and gang-raped.
The accused forced the rape survivor to keep silent through blackmail and extorted money, police said. The woman’s patience got over when Goswami made public one of her nude pictures to a youth there. The harried woman went to police and narrated her horror story.
