Dr. Kamath, Secretary, CGSI, introduced his organization and its endeavors in serving the consumer community for the last 50 years. Shamim Hava of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) inaugurated the new CGSI logo followed by the inauguration of the net metering of CGSI’s solar energy unit.

After the inauguration, in his address Dr. Kamat emphasized that the net metering system is a first, one of its kind installation in Maharashtra. The net metering system is a reverse meter that helps to track the non consumed energy generated by the solar unit, contributed to the city grid.

This will serve as a model for individual consumers, organizations who have a similar setup and can greatly reduce their electricity bills by contributing energy to community grid. This exercise is in line with Government of India’s renewable energy initiative, which aims at reducing the dependence on conventional fuel sources for energy.

With the latest rooftop policy rolled out by the government and the reducing cost of installing a solar setup, this can be a feasible option for private property owners and cooperative housing societies to be self reliant and save energy.
