Devendra Fadnavis AVMaharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said malnutrition cases in adjoining Palghar district have come down by 40 per cent.

A special task force was set up to curb malnutrition in the tribal-dominated district. Works done by the task force has led to 40 per cent reduction in malnutrition cases in the district, which came into existence in 2014, he said.

The setting up of a centralised kitchen, which provides nutritious food to tribal children, has gone a long way in reducing the cases of malnutrition, he said.

Fadnavis was speaking after laying down the foundation stone for the development of new administrative complexes in Palghar district.

Town planning agency CIDCO will spend Rs 600 crore in building the complexes which will house facilities like the Collectorate, an administrative building and ZP office among others, he said.

Fadnavis said efforts were being made to improve the standards of English and science teaching in the state-run ashram schools for tribal students.
