A man jumped in front of a moving train as it was entering the Kashi Cantt railway station’s platform 4, yet miraculously survived.
Raghvendra Sharma, Godauliya resident, jumped before a train around 11 am. Because the speed of the train was slow, he got stuck in the engine and was dragged till 100 metres. Passengers on the platform shouted to alert the driver to pull the brakes.
Even as the driver tried to bring the train to a halt, by that time Raghavendra had fallen from the engine on the tracks and two bogies had run over him.
He was pulled out and rushed to the Mandaliya hospital where doctors said he is out of danger.
Raghavendra’s father said his son has been suffering from mental illness. In 2008, he studied B.Com from BHU and was preparing for CA exams. He was also was being treated for the illness in a hospital in Gorakhpur. On the ill-fated day, he had told his family members that he was going to for a stroll. He then went to the railway station and jumped before the train.
