Modi govt incurs 35 crores on its second anniversary celebrations

As per an RTI application filed by activist Anil Galgali it has been revealed that Modi government had spent Rs 35, 58, 70,388 by releasing advertisements in 11,236 newspapers across the country on the occasion of its second anniversary. The Public Information Officer of the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) Rupa Vedi provided a CD containing information about advertisements released in leading newspapers to Galgali. It contained the advertisements and the costs incurred on each one of them.

Earlier Galgali had also sought details of expenses incurred by the UPA government during its second anniversary. Rupa Vedi informed Galgali no expenses were incurred by the UPA government on the completion of its second anniversary. No information is available about the expenditure incurred on advertising campaigns released through electronic, social media etc by the Modi government. In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Galgali has requested the government to provide the information of its expenses in public domain through website.
