Modi’s ‘Taint-Free’ Parliament is possible?

You know thieves also keep dogs for protection but their dog does not bark when his master steals, it only barks at other thieves. I read the above statement in history books which I found illogical and it then angered me but now I’m finding logic in that. Once Winston Churchill said about Congress party and India while speaking to an audience at the City of London in December 1930, that if the British left the sub-continent, then “an army of white janissaries, officered if necessary from Germany, will be hired to secure the armed ascendancy of the Hindu.” Speaking at the Albert Hall three months later, he claimed that “to abandon India to the rule of the Brahmins (who in his view dominated the Congress party) would be an act of cruel and wicked negligence”. If the British left, “India will fall back quite rapidly through the centuries into the barbarism and privations of the Middle Ages”. Now, I feel he was right.

Why do we always need to follow somebody? The British were right except for one part – Brahmins. The most backward states today are ruled by the Dalits. The British saw that there was actually no unity among Indians and leaders of the stature of Gandhi, Lal, Bal, Pal, Netaji, etc. had to group them to stay together. Today, our country is splintered into millions of groups. Not a single person agrees with the opinion of another. Some say it’s because of Modi when things go wrong; they endorse Modi and even if things are right then also they endorse him. Modi has ability to turn things in his favour and he has skills to deliver, but somewhere the credit for public mandate goes to Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev and Arvind Kejriwal’s agitation against Congress. These three people created anger against then government that has benefited Modi to get clear mandate. Moreover, these elections also passed a message that Indian politics can do without Muslims (vote bank). 2014 elections have united Hindus, united people of this country once again on common agenda. It’s like on fast moving water with strong current, to walk, you have to lift one leg, so in that moment, all your weight and support goes on one leg.

Media is overhyped with Modi and his each minute detailing. Some go gaga and some just praises, I think it’s time one should let him perform.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi said both houses of parliament needed to be made free of tainted members. Some members have FIR against them. The judicial mechanism should execute their cases faster and the judgments can come within one year, Modi said in the Rajya Sabha while responding to a debate on the motion of thanks to the president’s address to a joint session of both houses of parliament. Many members have cases filed against them because of political reasons. Those who are tainted should go, and those who are innocent should come out clean. We need to tell the world we have no tainted lawmaker in our parliament. According to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms and the National Election Watch that analysed 541 of the 543 members in the present Lok Sabha, 186 (34 per cent) MPs were found to have declared criminal cases against themselves in their election affidavits. Of these, 112 winners have declared serious criminal cases.

Even if the bill is passed, how many days will they take to prosecute those involved in 2G scam or all those having criminal cases? Those convicted will have the right to appeal. Then what will happen during the time of investigations? Cases will pile up in no time and they will become another worthless burden on the Government. Issue will soon be sidelined and unfortunately taint free politicians are not possible. What will happen then? It will be dog eating dog. The knives are out between the BJP’s clean and tainted ministers. Anyways, cleaning the parliament is wise idea to dream about. Moreover, which ideology Modi follows is his personal decision. However, there should be some honesty about it. People have the right to know what your ideology is. People must know. Now, Modi should give an explanation to the people, if he did have or still has some relation with RSS. The people have elected BJP and Modi; they are answerable to public, not anyone else.

It is the citizens of India who voted these criminal politicians to take care of every citizen. We didn’t think about corruption when we voted for these politicians irrespective of knowing their backgrounds. Now, when we are facing issues like corruption, inefficiency etc. we started feeling the pain. Why these people are elected again and again? Because we are letting it happen. British supremacy was shaken from its base after second war. They were under pressure from emerging economic power of US to wrap their colonies at the earliest. The consequence was our independence. We prepared a constitution in hurry by cutting and pasting from the existing democracies. Though, we called it Constitution of India but nothing Indian was there. Even nearly hundred amendments could not make it assure our people “two square meal,” what to talk about freedom? We already have strong laws against criminals but failed to curb the social evil. It cannot be minimised through legislation only. If we bring strong awareness among masses, then only Modi’s ‘Taint-Free’ Parliament is possible.
