The Mumbai Press Club has extended the last date for submission of entries for its annual The RedInk Awards upto March 15.

“The decision was taken following a spate of requests from both individual journalists as well as editors for more time to put together their stories and entries for the RedInk Awards,” a release issued by Mumbai Press Club said.

To identify the best stories, and raise the bar for the selection process, the Mumbai Press Club has made a special appeal to editors of print and broadcast networks to identify, and nominate their best stories in 2017, it said.

This year RedInk Awards has introduced a new category of awards Women Empowerment and Gender Equality. The award has been introduced to highlight the struggle of women against gender exploitation, as well as to encourage writing on the plight of the girl child, said the statement.

According to the Press Club, for the first time in its eight years, the RedInk Awards have been opened up to foreign correspondents writing on India.

In all, there are 11 categories of awards covering written and broadcast stories published in 2017 in the print, web and television medium.

The winning entry in each category will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1.5 lakh, a trophy and a citation. The awards will be presented at a special function on May 18 here.
