Muslim police officer beat up and paraded, forced to hoist saffron flag

In a Shocking incidence in Latur, Maharashtra, Muslim Police officer was beat up and paraded, ASI Shaikh Yunus Pashamiya (56), belonging to Pangaon Police station was making arrangements for Shivaji’s birthday celebrations. A gang of 200-250 right-wing activists caught hold of him and handed over the Saffron flag to him, asking him to perform Mujra.
They dragged him to Ambedkar Chowk and assaulted him. He received severe injuries on his head. He was rushed to hospital where he was given 25 stitches. They made an attempt to shave his beard.

As per sources, on Friday Pashamiya had restricted some men from tying saffron flags in certain sensitive areas sighting orders from superiors but people got angry due to such opposition and warned him of consequences.

Reportedly, next day Pashamiya was singled out from policemen and was beaten up brutally by the mob. Reports suggest that mob also tried to shave his beard off and was asked to make parade with saffron flag in his hands.

Pashamiya is now recuperating in a local hospital in Latur.
