Nanavati Hospital launches clinic for sportsperson AV

Nanavati Super Specialty Hospital had organised a press conference in association with Mumbai City Football Club on Wednesday to create awareness about preventive health care for sportsperson. Players of Mumbai City Football Club and Dr. Prakash Doshi and Dr. Yajuvendra Gawai — doctors of Nanavati hospital were present at the event. According to a research, 65 per cent of adolescents are either engaged in Cricket or Football. It is necessary to create awareness about the medical and proactive solutions to prevent occurrence of injuries while participating in sports. On this occasion, the hospital announced the launch of Performance Enhancement and Inquiry Clinic for sportsperson.

There are a large number of athletics and sportsman who don’t have access to facilities that can enrich them to improve their performance. This clinic caters to the sport athletes and common fitness freak public who do regular exercise and preparing for marathon.

Dr. Prakash Doshi, Director Orthopedic and Traumatology spoke to AV and said, “Players’ fitness is important. Students can start making smaller group of those players playing Football at school and college level to promote the game. Football requires a lot of discipline and physical training. Injuries at an early age can affect their whole focus on the game. So, it is important to stay fit to have a successful career.”

Dr. Yajuvendra Gawai, Senior Consultant Orthopedic and Sports Medicine said, “If we are really concerned about the sportsmen, the thought of sports medicine should begin before they sustain injuries.”

Dr. Rajendra Patankar, COO of Nanvati Hospital said that the objective behind starting this initiative is to help the athletes to understand about their strengths, weaknesses, and steps to be taken to prevent injuries. “People can avail quality services from experts by visiting this clinic,” he said.

Mr. Sanju Pradhan, Mumbai City FC Player said that professional sports teams like Mumbai City FC have top class medical staff and it’s important for the players like him to be aware about sports injuries, prevention, and rehabilitation. He said, “We appreciate the initiative taken by the Nanavati Hospital to start their brand new sports rehabilitation clinic. We are confident that these efforts will definitely help the athletes in the city and across the country.”
