Congress leader Narayan Rane is upset with Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Chief Ashok Chavan for dissolving the district committee of Sindhudurg. The Congress also appointed Vikas Sawant as the new Sindhudurg president. Rane who of late has been cosying up with BJP will make an announcement on September 21 about his future course of action. Thus speculations are rife in political circles that whether Rane will join BJP or will he float his own party? Rane has been distancing himself from the meetings organised by Ashok Chavan. He is upset with Congress for denying him the post of MPCC President. Since Rane is anxious about his political career in Congress, he may decide to shift loyalties and join BJP. The senior Congress leader is eyeing a ministerial berth in the BJP. If Rane joins BJP then Shiv Sena may ask its 6 cabinet, 4 MoS to quit the BJP government. Thus, is Rane on the verge of committing political suicide? Rane was expelled from the Sena in 2005 after he accused Sena patriarch Bal Thackeray of having blind love for his son Uddhav Thackeray.

Deepak Kesarkar AVDeepak Kesarkar, Shiv Sena leader and Minister of state for Home said, “BJP will take the decision whether to induct Narayan Rane into the cabinet. Rane is the most corrupt leader in Maharashtra. Various reports about his involvement in corruption have been published in newspapers. A probe about his involvement in the MIDC scam will begin soon.”

“If BJP inducts tainted minister then it will be unjustified. Rane’s political career has finished. We will ask Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis why they are inducting Rane into the party as BJP is a leading political party in Maharashtra. If BJP’s image takes a beating then it will affect us. Narayan Rane is a small leader and we won’t withdraw support to the BJP government,” he added.

Bhai jagtap AVBhai Jagtap, Congress MLA said, “Narayan Rane will take a decision about which party he has to join. He has been working with the Congress since last 10 years but all these years he never thought about shifting loyalties. Many leaders like him have joined and quit Congress party and it has been powerful and will remain so.”

Sanjay KadamSanjay Kadam, NCP MLA said, “If Narayan Rane will join BJP then it is a good decision. He possess good administration experience and Konkan will get a minister which will pave way for the region’s development.”
