The birthplace of country’s first Prime Minister Jawarlala Nehru – Meerganj in Allahabad – is a home to hundreds of prostitutes who were settled here by the Britishers.

Nehru had spent 2-3 years of his life in Meergunj. Little had anyone expected that the place which gave birth to a great leader would one day turn into a hub of flesh trade. The Nehrus shifted to Anand Bhavan in Allahabad later but the condition of Meergunj deteriorated day by day.

Girls from the neighbouring states of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Nepal and Bangladesh are being trafficked to this place and forced into flesh trade, media reports said.
