French Navy seizes 670 kg heroin in Indian Ocean

A French frigate, which docked at a military port in Mumbai last week, intercepted 670 kg of heroin in the Indian Ocean subsequently, the French envoy has said.

French Defence Minister Florence Parly said the “record” seizure is a blow to the financing of terrorism.

“The Frigate Cassard which was docked last week in the military port of Mumbai has intercepted 670 kg of heroin on the 31st of January.

“More than ever, France is committed to the security of the Indian Ocean, a common goal shared with India,” France’s Ambassador to India Alexandre Ziegler said.

The frigate had docked at Mumbai on January 29.

Woman Shiv Sena leader cheated of Rs 9 lakh; 4 booked

currencyA woman Shiv Sena leader has been allegedly duped of over Rs 9 lakh by four persons in Thane district of Maharashtra, police said on Monday.

Jyoti Thakare, the chairperson of the Maharashtra government-run Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal, which helps women entrepreneurs, said in her complaint that she owned a petrol pump and another business and needed about Rs 7 crore loan to run them properly.

Two of the accused last year offered to arrange a loan through a private financial firm and sought Rs 60,000 from her as their charges, Thane police spokesperson Sukhada Narkar said.

However, even after taking the money from her they did not facilitate loan disbursal, the official said.

Later, two other men offered to help the Sena leader and allegedly took Rs 8.5 lakh from her but failed to arrange the loan, Narkar said.

When they gave evasive replies after several reminders, Thakare lodged a complaint against all the four men at the Naupada police station on Sunday late night.

Based on the complaint, the police registered offenses against Amit Koli, Prashant Kadam, Balchandra Palva and Omkar Hatle alias Amit Patil, all hailing from Thane district, under Indian Penal Code Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust), Narkar said.

No arrest was made so far, she said, adding that a probe was into the matter.

 

Leopard enters residential area; attacks 2, 1 hurt in melee

Two people were injured in an attack by a leopard and another person got hurt after falling while trying to run away from the animal which entered a residential area in Pune district of Maharashtra on Monday, police said.

The feline later fell into the duct of an under- construction building in Keshav Nagar area as it panicked when a large number of people gathered there, an official at Mundhwa police station said.

Efforts were on to rescue the animal from the duct.

“Between 5 am and 6 am on Monday, the leopard was spotted in the area, which has several under-construction housing projects and is fairly populated. The animal attacked two people, including an old woman, causing injuries to them,” the official said.

Besides, one person received minor injuries when he fell down while trying to escape from the spot, he said.

When several people gathered there, the leopard got frightened and fell into the duct of an under-construction building, the official said.

Forest officials, police and fire brigade personnel were making all efforts to rescue the big cat, he said.

All the injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital, he added.

Brie Larson who has won an Oscar, followed the epic strength training routine in preparation for the role. She even did actual flight training which is was quite intense and despite falling sick, Brie continued to train!

When asked about the flight training, Brie said, “Oh, I puked a lot. That’s part of how I got my call sign. All of the pilots were like you’re not supposed to tell anybody that, and I was like I got no shame. But we were simulating a dog fight, so I was like flipping around all which way. My pilot was so incredible and super-talented. We got to 6.5 Gs. It was just amazing to feel all of that, especially once we were back on set. When we were simulating a barrel roll, I was able to recall that exactly, what that feels like, what your body feels like, how hard it is to breathe. It’s all of those little nuances that I hope will come through in the movie so that regardless of who you are, if you’re the Air Force or you’re a pilot or whatever, that you recognize that. That it feels real.”

In an interview, Larson revealed that her strength training—which included 100 kg deadlifts and 200 kg hip thrusts—didn’t just transform her physically, but also helped her prepare mentally to become Captain Marvel, the most powerful hero in the Marvel Comics Universe.

“A huge part of Captain Marvel is her strength,” Larson said. “I knew if I could go through that experience, I would get closer to her and I’d understand her.”

Marvel Studio’s Captain Marvel releases in India on 8th March 2019 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Sonakshi is all set to sizzle the dance floor with the Total Dhamaal song ‘Mungda’

Sonakshi Sinha recreates Helen’s iconic track ‘Mungda’ for Indra Kumar’s adventure comedy, Total Dhamaal. The actress will be seen shaking a leg for this special number along with Ajay Devgn. The song which has been directed by Kookie Gulati is all set to be launched tomorrow!

On being part of the song, Sonkahsi shares, “Its a coincidence that my last performance to an iconic song also happened to be Helen aunties, I was a part of Chin Chin Chu for Happy Phirr Bhag Yayegi and now Mungda! I feel its great that we can re-package these iconic songs and present them to the generations of today! I love being a part of them!”

When asked if she feels the pressure to live up to the original’s success, the actress shared, “Helen aunties’ grace and charm is unmatched and it would be foolish to even try! This is an all out dance number, with spruced up music and lots of choreography, nothing like the original at all. So we stuck to that.”

Sonakshi will be seen sharing the screen with Ajay Devgn after Son Of Sardaar. On working with the actor again Sonakshi shared, “Super fun! I love to pull his leg about how much he hates dancing and I got to do that a lot here since this was a dance number!”

Rapper 21 Savage arrested by US immigration officials

rapper 21 savageRapper 21 Savage has been taken into custody by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement following a “targeted operation” in Atlanta on Sunday.

According to the media reports, the Grammy-nominated rapper came to the US as a teenager in 2005 from the UK but did not leave when his visa expired a year later. He was subsequently convicted on felony charges in 2014.

“The rapper initially entered the US legally in July 2005, but subsequently failed to depart under the terms of his nonimmigrant visa and he became unlawfully present in the US when his visa expired in July 2006,” the ICE spokesman told a leading media house.

21 Savage, whose real name is Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, has previously described a childhood in Atlanta during interviews.

“His whole public persona is false. He actually came to the US from the UK as a teen and overstayed his visa,” the official added.

He has been placed in deportation proceedings in federal immigration court.

21 Savage is nominated for two awards at next week’s Grammys, including record of the year for “Rockstar” alongside Post Malone.

His second solo album “I Am I Was,” released in December, debuted at No 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Cardi B and Offset are “working things out”

Rappers Cardi B and Offset reunited at the Super Bowl party as the two try to reconcile.

The duo, who announced their split about two months ago, were seen at The Big Game Weekend Party at Oak Nightclub in Atlanta just two days before the Super Bowl, reported an online portal. The Grammy nominee rocked a new silver, blue and pink hairstyle during her outing in Atlanta with Offset.

It is an eventful weekend for the two as Offset’s rap group ‘Migos’ performed at a pre-Super Bowl event and Cardi is all set to make her Pepsi Super Bowl commercial debut along with Steve Carell and Lil Jon.

On Thursday, she gave her fans a ray of hope when she gave a relationship update and said she and Offset were “working things out.” Their daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus has been the biggest priority for both of them.

According to a source, Cardi hasn’t officially filed for divorce yet.

While the Super Bowl party isn’t the first time Cardi and Offset have reunited, it’s one of the first times they have been photographed together in public since Offset’s public apology to his lady love. On Dec. 15, he surprised Cardi during her show in Los Angeles and presented her with a cake and roses that spelled out “Take Me Back Cardi.”

“I just wanna tell you I’m sorry, bro, in person, in front of the world. I love you. Whatever I gotta do to show you that, I’m there,” the 27-year-old rapper said on stage

Varun announces release date of Remo D’Souza’s dance film

Mark your calendar guys! Bollywood powerhouse Varun Dhawan on Monday announced the release date of Remo D’Souza’s next dance film but kept its name under wraps.

He teased his fans by sharing a new still from the untitled dance film on Twitter. He wrote, “One “step” closer to the name. The rule breakers of 2k19 are here #3IsComing @ShraddhaKapoor @PDdancing @Norafatehi @Tseries @itsBhushanKumar @Lizelle1238 @remodsouza.”

 


The peppy new poster shows Varun flaunting his abs and perfectly chiselled body. He can be seen in a full pumped up mode striking a catapulting dance pose with his head down, legs crossed and arms spread. The actor is seen donning a shiny golden shirt and black pants with funky shoes and coloured hair.

This is Varun’s second collaboration with choreographer-filmmaker Remo. The duo had earlier teamed up for second instalment of the hit franchise ‘ABCD’. Apart from Varun, the untitled dance film also stars Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role. Shraddha was also seen sharing screen space with Varun in ‘ABCD 2’.

Along with the lead pair, the upcoming film also features Nora Fatehi, Aparshakti Khurana and Shakti Mohan in pivotal roles.

According to various media reports, Shraddha will be seen as a dancer from Pakistan, while Varun will be playing a dancer from Punjab. After wrapping up the first schedule of the film in Amritsar, the next schedule of the film will kick off in London on 10 February.

Reportedly, Katrina Kaif was to play the leading lady in the film. In fact, Varun and Katrina recently appeared together on the popular chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’ to promote their dance drama. However, Katrina had to back out of the project because she was busy shooting for ‘Bharat’.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Lizelle D’Souza and Krishan Kumar, the film is all set to hit the theatres on November 8.

Apart from this film, Varun will also be seen in ‘Kalank’. Meanwhile, Shraddha has three other films in her kitty including ‘Saaho’, ‘Chhicchore’, and Saina (Saina Nehwal’s biopic).

Calling their current relationship civil, Malhotra said, “We haven’t met after it. Our relationship is civil. I don’t think it’s bitter. It’s been a while. I have known her for much longer even before we dated. I gave my first ever shot with her in SOTY, I was crazy, and there is so much history”

Taking the discussion further, Karan Johar asked Sidharth if it has been difficult for him to remove the emotional dynamic when it comes to Alia Bhatt and go ahead professionally. To which the ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ actor said, “There is a reason why two people decide not to be together. There were lots of ups and downs. When you take yourself from a situation, you look at all the happy and good memories.”

Anil Kapoor became a part of history when the Indian cast-led “Slumdog Millionaire” swept the Oscars in 2009 but the actor remembers the eve of the ceremony for being scolded by his wife.

Directed by Danny Boyle, “Slumdog Millionaire” received 10 nominations at the 81st Academy Awards, out of which the film bagged eight trophies.

Anil played the role of a slimy game show host in the movie.

“For family, Oscar doesn’t matter. My wife and I were discussing Sonam (daughter) the night before Oscar! I said ‘let me sleep now’ and she said ‘leave Oscar, listen to me first.’ So even then, family was my priority. I got a lot of firing from Sunita the night before Oscar ceremony,” Anil told an agency.

The actor was speaking at a special ceremony here to celebrate ten years of the iconic win, along with Gulzar and AR Rahman.

Rahman made history by becoming the first Indian to bag two oscars the same night for his score and song (Jai Ho) along with Gulzar in the film.

The movie also won the Oscar for best film, direction, adapted screenplay, cinematography, editing and sound mixing for Resul Pookutty.

Anil said the moment “Slumdog Millionaire” was announced as the best film, he had a “massive temptation” to break into his famous “Ram Lakhan” dance step.

“But I thought if I do it, I’ll break the protocol and they might arrest me! Had it been India, I would’ve done it. I was dying to dance. When the dancers were dancing on ‘Jai Ho’, imagine how much I had to control myself to not dance.”

Looking back, the 62-year-old actor said winning the Oscar was phenomenal and a moment the entire country was “proud” of.
