What Nitish Kumar said is correct but narrative was tattered 2

Our Indian Parliament is known for more controversies. Watching porn to hit each other or taunting women parliamentarians to demonize some random leader is routine practice. Most of them never grew up and continued to behave like spoiled brats. Unfortunately, it has become fashionable for parliamentarians to disrupt the workings of the House to show their strength. But they are not understanding their failure to maintain the dignity and standards of the institution. They are also unable to understand that a meaningful debate is a much better way to corner the government than to just create a ruckus in Parliament.

Regrettably, nothing can be done about it unless the members themselves come to a realization of this. Most of the time, parliamentarians have no moral compunction or ethics to be loyal to the people who have elected them and who keep them in fabulous perks. The Indian Parliament is an expression of the faith that the voters of India have in the principles of democracy. These are participation by people in the decision-making process and government by consent. The Parliament in our system has immense powers because it is the representative of the people. I hope these leaders understand the emotions of people and their responsibilities towards the nation.

Recently, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s comments on the role of women’s education in population control have created controversy. He was talking about sex education that’s taught in schools and his comments were misconstrued by other leaders to take political advantage. What did Nitish Kumar say on sex education? He, however, apologized for his comments in the House, claiming they were misinterpreted and that he felt ashamed. Nitish Kumar highlighted how an educated married woman can influence her husband to prevent pregnancy. “When an educated girl gets married, she can help in population control by telling her husband how to go safe and this has actually helped in population control. Practically, what he said is right: an educated couple, especially a woman, knows how to plan a family. Perhaps speaking brutal truths in parliament is not accepted. Education and family planning have long been tied to lower fertility trends.

Immediately, the BJP legislators demanded his resignation and called his remarks “vulgar”. Nitish Kumar made the remarks after the state released the full report of the caste survey, which detailed the economic conditions of various sections. While his comments drew smiles, including from his deputy Tejashwi Yadav, they upset several female BJP MLAs. Whatever Nitish was saying was about sex education. People become hesitant over this topic, but it is taught in schools—in science and biology. Children learn this. His comments should not be taken in the wrong manner.

The BJP alleged that Indian politics has not seen a leader as vulgar as Nitish Babu. His mind is infested with the worms from “B” grade adult films. His double-meaning comments should be banned. The National Commission for Women has also demanded that the Chief Minister apologize. The National Commission for Women vehemently condemns the statements made by Nitish Kumar, but these leaders forgot about the BJP MLA from Tripura watching porn on his mobile phone during the state assembly session, which had gone viral on social media, sparking outrage and criticism. The MLA, Jadav Lal Nath, represents the Bagbassa constituency in the northeastern state. When the assembly was discussing issues related to the state budget, Nath was scrolling through a feed of video clips, pausing and intently watching a clip that appeared to be pornographic, on his phone while the speaker and other MLAs were speaking. This is not the first time that a BJP leader has been caught watching porn in a public place. In 2012, two ministers of the then BJP government in Karnataka were forced to resign after they were seen watching porn clips on their phones inside the state assembly. The ministers, Laxman Savadi and CC Patil, were later reinstated by the party after a probe cleared them of any wrongdoing.

Girls and women in largely patriarchal India face a barrage of threats, including rape, dowry-related murder, forced marriage, domestic violence, honor killings, and human trafficking. No one is talking about that but one honest opinion of a minister bothered most BJP leaders.

This is the problem with democracy. It doesn’t require any formal or informal standard of minimum qualification to contest the elections. It doesn’t even require the candidates to have a criminal record. There is a saying that if you study hard and earn some educational qualifications, you can become a teacher in a school, whereas if you don’t study and waste your time, you can own an educational institution itself. If you don’t get both, you can own a country by becoming a politician.

T'gana polls: It was Congress party which defeated BR Ambedkar in Parliament polls, alleges CM KCR 8

Asserting that the BRS stands for the welfare of Dalits, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao alleged on Tuesday that it was the Congress party which defeated Dr BR Ambedkar in a parliamentary election (in 1950s). Speaking at a poll rally here, Rao said it was his government that erected the 125-ft tall Ambedker statue, the tallest in the world, near the state secretariat in the capital, Hyderabad, and also introduced schemes like Dalit Bandhu for the uplift of SCs.

Seeking votes for the party candidates, KCR told the people to be aware of the track record of political parties before casting their franchise for them as vote will decide the fate for the next five years.

”Dalits were used as vote-banks (by other parties). The BRS government will work until the last Dalit family gets Dalit Bandhu. Ambedkar undertook a lot of struggles for Dalits. It was the Congress party which ensured his defeat in the Parliamentary elections (earlier). You should know the history of who defeated Ambedkar in the Parliamentary elections. The Congress party defeated him and did not implement his ideology,” Rao said, taking a dig at the grand old party.

Attacking the BJP, Rao said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has been selling off airports, seaports, railways and coal mines also. Addressing the gathering, comprising mostly Singareni Collieries Company Ltd workers and employees, Rao said it was his government which enhanced the profits of the SCCL. ”This inefficient and useless Congress government (earlier) was unable to run the company (SCCL). It ( then Congress government) raised loans from the Centre and as it could not repay the loans, they sold out 49 per cent stake to the Centre. You people should ask who shelled out 49 per cent stake to the Centre,” Rao charged. He said the BRS party was born with a sole purpose of achieving Telangana statehood and developing it if the mandate is given.

Courts seem to have forgotten basic principle of grant or refusal of bail, says former SC judge Lokur 10

Courts seem to have forgotten the basic principle of grant or refusal of bail, former Supreme Court judge Justice Madan B Lokur has said, and termed as “most unfortunate” the unwillingness of the judiciary to see through the designs of probe agencies like filing incomplete charge sheets and not providing documents just to keep accused in jail.

Observing that the judiciary needs to wake up to the realities of life, the former apex court judge said in an interview with PTI that though it is very difficult to allege political vendetta in every corruption case involving politicians, suspicions arise when investigation is dropped if the suspect changes loyalties. In response to a query on denial of bail to AAP leader Manish Sisodia, Justice Lokur said, “Generally speaking, the courts seem to have forgotten the basic principles of grant or refusal of bail. Nowadays, if a person is arrested, you can be rest assured that he will be in prison for a few months at least.

“The police first arrest the person, then start a serious investigation. An incomplete charge sheet is filed followed by a supplementary charge sheet and documents are not furnished. This is most unfortunate and what is troubling is that some courts are not willing to see through this.” The judiciary needs to wake up to the realities of life as law books do not tell the whole story, Lokur said in response to a question as to how the judiciary should approach the issue of alleged misuse of investigative agencies by the government of the day both at the Centre and in states.

The former judge said the basic principles have been laid down by the apex court in several judgments for the exercise of discretionary power in bail matters.

“The problem is that some courts do not apply these basic principles, although they know them. The question is, why?” he said.

The Supreme Court on October 30 denied bail to former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in the corruption and money laundering cases related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. He was arrested by the CBI on February 26.

Mincing no words about the trend of rising number of corruption cases lodged by government agencies against political adversaries in recent years, Justice Lokur said though such things are not new, the problem is the trajectory of probe against suspects if they change political loyalties.

“Corruption cases against some politicians are not new. There are other criminal cases against some politicians. It is difficult to allege political vendetta in all cases, but there may be some truth in some cases. The troubling aspect of all this is that after investigations start and the suspect changes loyalties, the investigation is dropped. That gives rise to grave suspicion of political vendetta,” he told PTI in an interview via e-mail. The former apex court judge hailed the present collegium system of appointment of judges in the higher judiciary and said it is the best available method.

“I have repeatedly been saying that the collegium system is the best available method of appointment of judges, but it needs some changes. This needs discussion. One important change is that the opacity of the government has to go. The government is more opaque than the collegiums,” Justice Lokur said.

Justice Lokur was elevated to the Supreme Court as a judge on June 4, 2012 and demitted office on December 30, 2018.

Justice Lokur, as the apex court judge, dealt with cases on different aspects of law — constitutional law, juvenile justice and Alternate Dispute Redressal mechanism, besides playing an active role in the pursuit of judicial reforms — computerisation of courts, judicial education, legal aid and legal services.

He was a part of the bench which adjudicated a writ petition on privacy and identity of victims of sexual harassment where the court took the view that privacy and reputation of victims should be protected and issued special directives to that end.

Lona Chamari- A powerful tantrik who inspires in awakening Shabar Mantra

Lona Chamari
Lona Chamari- A powerful tantrik who inspires in awakening Shabar Mantra 12

Today I went to one program arranged by one of the Hindutva organisations, many Sadhus, Nagas and Aghoris were invited in that religious programme. Tantra Vidya has always attracted people; out of curiosity I asked one of the tantric “is there any female tantrik in this field? He said many women are successful practitioners of tantra but they live a very private and isolated life. While talking about the legacy of female tantric, he mentioned one name called Lona Chamari. Just as people believe in the power of God, in the same way there are many people who believe in Tantra Vidya or Tantric powers. There are people who believe in this all over the world including India. Tantra Vidya has been present on the earth not just today but for centuries. People claim to use it for many things. Like protection from evil eye, job, marriage and what not. We humans naturally get attracted to these tantra practices because it is made believe that these practices can get you whatever you wish for.

In tantra vidya there are many men known for their tantra awakenings, but Lona Chamari was one female who is known for awakening Shabar Mantra. According to learned authorities, there are many types of Lona Chamaris, one Lona Chamari was a resident of Chamar village of Amritsar city of Punjab. Some believe that she is called Chamarin (cobbler) because she belonged to that community. It is said that Lona Chamarin belonged to the Harijan caste. There is no written history about Lona Chamarin, but from folklore, folk literature and mantras we get to know another story that she belonged to Kamarupa, also known as Kamakhya. Kamakhya has been famous for Tantra Sadhana since ancient times. Another Lona Chamarin is mentioned as a woman living in Dadrewa, Rajasthan. She was the maid of Jaharveer’s mother Vashal. It is said that Jaharveer respected him like his mother, hence whenever Lona Chamarin is called for, Jaharveer himself comes and solves the problem.

From childhood, she became the disciple of Ismail Jogi. Ismail Jogi was a great Tantrik of Kamakhya. Lona Chamarin also learned Tantrik Vidya by staying with him. Later on, she became so adept in these practices and went deep in her practices. This is the reason even in today’s time her name is taken in many tantra vidyas. However, the fame of Lona Chamarin of Kamrup i.e., Kamakhya is much greater than all of them.

Lona Chamarin’s name appears in many Sabar chants. Sabar mantras are those in which Arabic, Persian and common spoken words are used. That is, such mantras which have been prepared in common spoken language. Mantras prepared in Sanskrit or other linguistic purity are difficult for the general public to understand. These special features of Sabar Mantras made them accessible to common people. People started using them in small matters everywhere. How much influence do they have? It is either a matter of belief or influence. However, the number of people who experiment and believe in it is not less.

The people who perform exorcism neither tell everyone about the spell nor talk about Lona Chamarin. But it is clear that Lona Chamarin must have been a very accomplished woman, due to which even the pundits invoke her name in the mantras to cast off witchcraft. Lona Chamarin’s name is mentioned at many places in Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s immortal work Padmavat. In one incident, a Brahmin who does yoga and totka, to prove her superiority, says, ‘Jas kamaru chamari lona. No one is educated or sorcery.

That is, just as who has not been stepped out by the tantra-mantra and sorcery of Lona Chamarin of Kamrup. Similarly, Lona Chamarin is mentioned at some other places in Padmavat. However, her name came up on such occasions where there was talk of witchcraft and tantra. It was clear from this that Lona Chamarin was an expert in such sciences. So, who was this Lona Chamarin, who is mentioned again and again in mantras, even in the classic epic like ‘Padmavat’?

During British rule, there used to be an officer of Bengal Civil Services, William Crook. One of his books, ‘The Popular Religion and Folklore of Northern India’, was published in 1896. In this he talks about Lona Chamarin. In ‘The Goldlings of Disease Chapter’ he mentions people who free someone from a shadow. In general terms they are called Tantrik or Ojha. He tells about one such person from Mirzapur that he was invoking devotee Hanuman in mantras.

He writes that apart from Hanuman, he has also heard about two more people, Lona Chamarin and Ismail Jogi. People appeal to Ismail Jogi and Lona Chamarin in their mantras to protect people from evil shadows or the wrath of any poisonous creature. He says that when hail started falling in Mirzapur, the people there would appeal to Ismail Jogi and Lona Chamarin to protect them. Those days we were living in a caste system and some cats were believed to be supreme and worship and tantras were considered to be their proficiency. This Dalit woman who accepted Muslim mantric as her guru and excelled on her path of spiritual divinity.

PFI's plea against UAPA tribunal's order confirming Centre's ban dismissed, SC allows it to approach HC 14

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the plea of the Popular Front of India (PFI) against an Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) tribunal confirming the five-year ban imposed on it by the central government.

A bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi said it would be appropriate for the PFI to first approach the high court against the tribunal’s order.

Senior advocate Shyam Divan, appearing for the PFI, agreed with the court’s view that the organisation should have first approached the high court and then come to the top court.

The bench then dismissed the plea but granted the PFI opportunity to approach the high court.

In its petition, the PFI has challenged the March 21 order of the UAPA tribunal by which it had confirmed the September 27, 2022 decision of the Centre.

The Centre had banned the PFI for five years for its alleged links with global terrorist organisations such as ISIS and trying to spread communal hatred in the country.

This, after 10 years of 'Acchhe Din': Sibal's dig at PM's free ration scheme extension 16

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Monday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement that his government will extend the free ration scheme for five years, saying this was needed even after ”10 years of Achche Din”.

In a post on X, Sibal said, ”Global Hunger Index, India ranked 111 out of 125 countries (October 13, 2023). India rejects ranking. Now PM: Extends PMGKA Yojana for another 5 years so that ‘people don’t go to sleep hungry’.” ”This: After 10 years of ‘Acchhe Din’?” the former Union minister said.

Sibal, who was a Union minister during UPA I and II, quit the Congress in May last year and was elected to the Rajya Sabha as an Independent member with the Samajwadi Party’s support.

He has floated a non-electoral platform ‘Insaaf’ aimed at fighting injustice.

Addressing a poll rally in poll-bound Chhattisgarh on Saturday, Modi had said the government will extend for five years the free ration scheme, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, covering 80 crore poor people.

”During COVID-19, the biggest concern of the poor was what they would feed their children… Then I decided that I would not let any poor sleep hungry, hence the BJP government started the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana,” he had said.

Even today, lakhs of poor people have been getting free rice and gram under this scheme which is ending in December, but ”your son (referring to himself) who has come out from among you has decided….The BJP government will extend the free ration scheme for 80 crore poor people for the next five years, the PM had said, referring to the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.

Cop probing Elvish Yadav's role in snake venom case transferred to police lines 18

A sub-inspector of the Noida Police who was investigating the snake venom case in which YouTuber Elvish Yadav is named as an accused has been shunted, according to officials.

The sub-inspector, Sandeep Chaudhary, was in-charge of Noida’s Sector 49 police station and has been transferred to police lines.

”The station in-charge of Sector-49, Noida, has been transferred to the Reserve Police Line due to his inability to effectively control crime within the police station area,” a police spokesperson said on Sunday night.

Noida Police has lodged an FIR against six named persons, including Yadav, a social media influencer and winner of reality OTT show ”Bigg Boss”, for alleged use of snake venom at rave parties under provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and the Indian Penal Code on November 3.

Five accused were arrested on November 3, while nine snakes, including five cobras, were rescued from a banquet hall, and 20 ml of suspected snake venom was seized from their possession, according to police.

However, police said they were investigating the role of Yadav in the whole episode, who was not found at the spot of the incident on November 3.

The 26-year-old YouTuber has refuted all charges against him and expressed willingness to cooperate in the police investigation. The case was lodged on the complaint of an officer of animal rights group PFA (People For Animals). PFA chairperson and BJP leader Maneka Gandhi has accused Elvish Yadav of involvement in illegally selling snake venom and sought his immediate arrest.

On November 4, Yadav was briefly stopped for questioning by police in Rajasthan’s Kota while he was travelling with his friends in a car but was let off soon. The local police in Kota said it came to light that a case was registered against him in Noida, and therefore the Noida Police were contacted. Noida Police officers confirmed to Rajasthan Police that the case was under investigation but Yadav was ”not wanted”, SHO Suket Police Station Vishnu Singh said.

BJP-JJP alliance is a must for Haryana to have stable govt, says Dushyant Chautala 20

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said the alliance between his Jannayak Janta Party and the BJP is a must for Haryana to have a stable government.

His comments came almost a month after BJP leader Birender Singh threatened to quit the party if it did not sever ties with the JJP, which he had accused of indulging in rampant corruption in the state.

”I am not hearing such things for the first time,” Chautala replied when reporters asked him to comment on Singh’s threat. ”I don’t think anyone saying so will have an impact on the government working.” ”If Haryana has to be given a stable government, then this alliance is a must. If weaker sections are to be empowered, then a stable government is needed,” Chautala told reporters after a party rally at Shahabad.

Addressing a rally in Jind last month, Birender Singh, a former Union minister, had also said that if the BJP thinks the JJP can fetch the alliance votes in next year’s elections, then they are mistaken.

The Ajay Singh Chautala-led party had extended support to the BJP in 2019 after the saffron outfit fell short of a majority in the assembly polls. However, in recent weeks, both the JJP and BJP have said they are preparing to contest in all the 10 Lok Sabha and 90 Assembly seats and remained non-committal on continuing the ties.

Meanwhile, replying to a question, Dushyant Chautala took on Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on the SYL canal issue.

”Punjab does not want to give SYL water to us (Haryana) whereas Delhi asks for water (from Haryana)… Punjab cannot stop stubble burning and it is leading to smoke in the national capital.

”He has to decide where his stand lies. If we get water from Punjab we will give it to Delhi also. If smoke does not come from Punjab, it will reduce pollution in Delhi,” he said.

Chautala said that his party is contesting the Rajasthan elections and has so far announced 14 candidates.

Dushyant Chautala along with his father and JJP chief Ajay Singh Chautala addressed the party’s ”Nav Sankalp Rally” at Shahbad in the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency.

Addressing the rally, Ajay Chautala stressed strengthening the organization and asked party workers to start preparations for next year’s assembly polls in the state.

Every worker should go door-to-door and tell the public about the welfare works done by the JJP. The present government has announced to soon increase old age pension to Rs 3,000 from Rs 2,750 per month, Ajay Chautala said.

”It was the JJP’s poll promise to increase old age pension to Rs 5,100 per month. We regret that we could not fulfill it but we will increase it to Rs 10,000 per month whenever we get an opportunity and for that, our organisation is working hard,” he said.

At the rally, Dushyant Chautala said when JJP was formed nearly five years ago, no one had thought that this party would be able to grow so fast. He credited the party workers for the growth and said they are the strength of the organization.
