Why are relationships at stake? 2

Loving and appreciating the people we care about is important in building strong and healthy relationships. In relationships, it’s essential to remember that they require effort and commitment. Just like any other aspect of life, they have their ups and downs. The key to a successful relationship is communication, trust, and empathy. When faced with challenges, remember that they are opportunities for growth, not roadblocks. Cherish the good times, learn from the tough times, and always strive to be the best partner you can be. Love, respect, and support each other, and together, you can overcome anything that comes your way. Protecting a relationship requires effort from both partners. Open and honest communication is the foundation of a healthy relationship. Be reliable, keep your promises, and avoid betraying your partner’s trust. Trust can take time to build but can be shattered in an instant. Treat your partner with respect and kindness. This means listening to their perspective, acknowledging their feelings, and avoiding disrespectful behaviour.

Spend quality time together, nurturing your connection. Make an effort to create shared experiences and memories. Establish healthy boundaries to maintain individual identities within the relationship. Discuss and agree on what is acceptable and what isn’t. Disagreements are natural. Learn to resolve conflicts in a constructive way, focusing on understanding each other rather than winning the argument. Be there for each other during both good and challenging times. Offer emotional support and encouragement. Physical and emotional intimacy are important aspects of a relationship. Keep the romance alive and continue to express affection. Relationships change over time. Be adaptable and willing to grow together, especially as life circumstances evolve. Don’t forget to express gratitude and appreciation for your partner. Recognize the qualities and actions you love about them.

While spending time together is essential, having personal space and interests can also strengthen your bond. Encourage each other’s individual growth. Accept that mistakes will happen. Learn to forgive and move forward, letting go of past grievances. A strong relationship is an ongoing effort. Keep working on it, and don’t take your partner for granted. Remember, no relationship is perfect, but by consciously applying these principles, you can build a resilient and lasting connection with your partner. People can lose faith in relationships for various reasons, and it’s a complex issue influenced by individual experiences and societal factors.

Past negative experiences, such as infidelity or emotional abuse, can erode trust and make it difficult to have faith in future relationships. Unrealistic expectations about what a relationship should be can lead to disappointment and disillusionment. Poor communication or a lack of understanding can lead to misunderstandings and emotional distance. External pressures, such as financial problems or work-related stress, can strain a relationship and make it challenging to maintain faith in it. Societal trends and the portrayal of idealized relationships in media can create unrealistic standards and make people question their own relationships. A relationship takes work, and if one or both partners stop putting in the effort to nurture it, it can deteriorate, leading to a loss of faith.

Insecurity or low self-esteem can lead individuals to doubt their worthiness in a relationship, which can affect their faith in it. As people grow and change, their values and priorities can shift, leading to questions about the compatibility of their current relationship. Some people are afraid to be emotionally vulnerable and may avoid deeper connections, leading to a lack of faith in relationships. A history of short-lived relationships may contribute to cynicism about long-term commitment.

It’s important to note that while these factors can erode faith in relationships, they are not insurmountable. With self-awareness, effort, and communication, individuals and couples can work through these challenges and rebuild faith in the potential for healthy, loving relationships. Faith and commitment are indeed fundamental to the success of a good relationship. Faith in your partner involves believing that they are reliable and have your best interests at heart. Trust is the cornerstone of a healthy relationship, providing a sense of security and emotional safety. Commitment signifies the intention to stay dedicated to the relationship over the long term. It’s a promise to work through challenges and cherish the good times, providing a sense of stability and continuity. In a committed relationship, couples are more likely to weather the storms together. The commitment to one another strengthens their ability to overcome obstacles and face adversity as a team. Knowing that your partner is committed and trustworthy encourages open and honest communication. You can discuss difficult topics and share your feelings without fear of betrayal.

Commitment promotes a willingness to resolve conflicts and find compromises. Instead of seeking an easy way out, committed partners work together to find solutions. In a committed relationship, both partners are invested in each other’s well-being. They offer emotional support and encourage personal growth and happiness. Faith and commitment can enhance intimacy, as partners feel safe and comfortable being vulnerable with each other. This can lead to deeper emotional and physical connections. Commitment allows couples to make plans and decisions together, whether it’s about marriage, family, career, or personal goals. Over time, people change, and life circumstances evolve. Commitment and faith enable partners to adapt to these changes and grow together. A strong sense of faith and commitment often leads to greater fulfilment and satisfaction in the relationship, as both partners work together to create a loving and supportive environment.

In summary, faith and commitment provide the essential glue that binds partners together in a healthy, successful relationship. They create a foundation of trust, security, and mutual support, allowing couples to navigate the ups and downs of life together with resilience and love. Marriages can fail for various reasons, and it’s a complex issue influenced by individual circumstances and societal factors. Poor communication or a breakdown in communication can lead to misunderstandings and conflicts that erode the foundation of a marriage. Unrealistic expectations about what a marriage should be like can lead to disappointment and dissatisfaction. Money-related issues, such as debt, financial instability, or disagreements over financial management, can strain a marriage. A lack of physical and emotional intimacy can create distance between spouses.

It’s important to note that while these factors can contribute to the failure of marriages, each relationship is unique, and the combination of reasons can vary widely. In many cases, problems in a marriage can be addressed and resolved through open communication, counselling, and mutual effort. However, there are instances where separation or divorce is the best option for both individuals to find happiness and fulfilment. Seeking professional help from therapists or counsellors can be valuable in navigating these challenges.

Saptarshi Puraskar Shrunkhala to be held in Nagpur on October 29 4

The Hindu Research Foundation, based in Mumbai, is a registered public charitable organization that has been working on a national scale since 2000. This organization works to preserve and promote various aspects of Hinduism.

It is disheartening that Indian culture has a rich heritage of sages and scholars who contributed significantly to literature, art, science, and mathematics in ancient times. Unfortunately, much of this information is still unknown to Indian society. The Hindu Research Foundation established the Saptarshi Puraskar Shrunkhala in an effort to correct this and honor the accomplishments of these sages.

The core idea behind the Saptarshi Puraskar Shrunkhala is to recognize and celebrate the achievements of seven notable sages from Indian culture in a manner akin to the Nobel Prize for their selflessness, outstanding contributions, and research benefiting all of humanity in their respective fields.

Initially, the scheme will focus on honoring distinguished Indian scientists for their remarkable accomplishments, with the aim of introducing the world to the achievements of our forefathers in the field of science from ancient times.

Last year, the Acharya Bharadwaj Award was presented to Padma Bhushan Shri Nambi Narayanan, a scientist who played a pivotal role in developing rocket technology, and Padma Vibhushan Shri Raghunath Mashelkar, a renowned chemist who gained worldwide acclaim for his unique contributions, received the Nagarjuna Award.

This year marks the second year of the awards. The following distinguished individuals from the fields of literature, art, and science will be honored with awards bearing their names. Each recipient will receive a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh along with a certificate of honor.

  1. Padma Vibhushan Dr. Kasturirangan, Former ISRO Chairman — Bharadwaj Award
  2. Padma Bhushan Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, Father of the Super Computer — Aryabhatta Award

Mukesh Ambani regains top spot on Forbes India rich list

Mukesh Ambani regains top spot on Forbes India rich list 6

In a dramatic shift in the pecking order at the top, Mukesh Ambani has reclaimed the No. 1 position on the 2023 Forbes list of India’s 100 Richest.

The collective wealth of India’s 100 Richest was flat at $799 billion this year.

India is on a high after hosting the G20 Summit in New Delhi this September and becoming the fourth country to land a spacecraft on the moon.

Reflecting this sentiment, India’s stock market rose 14 per cent since fortunes were last measured.

However that jump, tempered by a weaker rupee, was not reflected in the collective net worth of India’s 100 Richest, which flatlined at $799 billion.

Mukesh Ambani, who transformed his Reliance Industries into a diversified conglomerate, reclaimed the No. 1 spot with a net worth of $92 billion.

Shortly after spinning off and listing Jio Financial Services, which has an asset management joint venture with BlackRock, Ambani cemented his succession plan by appointing his three children to Reliance’s board as non-executive directors in August.

The fortune of infrastructure magnate Gautam Adani, who rose meteorically to overtake Ambani as India’s richest person for the first time last year, reversed dramatically after a report by US short seller Hindenburg Research in January sent his group’s shares tumbling.

Despite recovering somewhat since, his net worth, which includes that of his family, fell by a whopping $82 billion to $68 billion — down the most in both dollar and percentage terms — and he slips back into second place.

Software tycoon Shiv Nadar climbs two spots to return to No. 3 with a fortune of $29.3 billion, as shares of HCL Technologies jumped 42 per cent in the past year amid a tech rebound.

Matriarch Savitri Jindal, of the O.P. Jindal Group, a power and steel conglomerate, ranks No. 4 with $24 billion, up 46 per cent, thanks partly to the September IPO of ports unit JSW Infrastructure, by her son Sajjan Jindal.

Rounding out the top five is Radhakishan Damani of Avenue Supermarts, whose fortune declined to $23 billion from $27.6 billion previously.

Naazneen Karmali, Asia Wealth Editor and India Editor of Forbes Asia, said: “India is riding high and is considered a hot spot by global investors. That buoyancy has made the elite club of India’s 100 Richest even more exclusive this year, with the minimum net worth to make the cutoff rising to a record $2.3 billion.”

The biggest percentage gainer this year is Inder Jaisinghani at No. 32 with $6.4 billion. His family’s net worth nearly doubled as his wires and cables company, Polycab India, benefited from increasing electrification.

Pharma brothers Ramesh and Rajeev Juneja got a handsome 64 per cent boost from the May listing of their Mankind Pharma, bringing them to No. 29 with $6.9 billion.

There are three new entrants this year: Renuka Jagtiani, chairwoman of Landmark Group, a Dubai-headquartered retailing giant, enters the list at No. 44 with $4.8 billion, following the passing of her husband Micky Jagtiani in May.

Also new to the list is the Dani family (No. 22, $8 billion) of Asian Paints, heirs of patriarch Ashwin Dani, who died in September.

The third newcomer is garment exporter K.P. Ramasamy (No. 100, $2.3 billion), founder and chairman of K.P.R Mill.

Among the seven returnees this year is Ranjan Pai (No. 86, $2.75 billion), who cashed out $1 billion from selling part of his stake in hospital chain Manipal Health Enterprises to Singapore’s Temasek.

Notable among the eight drop-offs are ed tech couple Byju Raveendran and Divya Gokulnath, whose firm Byju’s saw its valuation marked down drastically amid myriad challenges.

Delhi Police arrests two accused in connection with viral video of man dragged by car 8

Two accused were arrested from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district in connection with the viral video of a man being dragged by a car in Delhi, police said.

During initial interrogation, the accused revealed that they boarded the taxi as passengers and, after some time, threatened and pushed the taxi driver out of the car with the intention of robbing the vehicle, said Sagar Preet Hooda, Special Commissioner of Police (L&O), on Wednesday.

Earlier on Wednesday, the police said that after a video of a man being dragged by a car in Delhi surfaced online, the body of a 43-year-old man was found lying with injuries near the service road of National Highway 8 (NH8).

As per Delhi police, the viral video showed the man being dragged by a car in Delhi on the National Highway-8 near Mahipalpur.

Police said that the deceased was identified as Bijender, a resident of Faridabad, Haryana.

Giving information about the case, police said, “On October 10, at around 11:20 PM, a PCR call was received at Vasant Kunj North Police Station that an unidentified body of a male with injuries was found near the service road of NH8.” Shortly after the information was received, the police reached the scene and recovered the body of the deceased.

Later, after an investigation, the body was identified as that of a taxi driver named Bijender, who is 43 years old and a resident of Faridabad.

Subsequently, the police registered a case under sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Vasant Kunj North Police Station.

SC extends for 3 months interim bail to NCP leader Nawab Malik

SC extends for 3 months interim bail to NCP leader Nawab Malik 10

The Supreme Court on Thursday extended for three months its earlier order granting interim bail on medical grounds to former Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik in connection with an alleged money laundering case.

“The interim bail granted to the petitioner is extended for a further period of three months,” ordered a bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Dipankar Datta after perusing the medical reports.

The bench was apprised that the senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader is suffering from chronic kidney ailments and his left kidney has completely failed.

Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju, appearing for the Enforcement Directorate, did not object to the request made on Malik’s behalf and said that his plea for extension of interim bail “may be considered” by the apex court.

“The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is still suffering from chronic kidney ailments and his medical condition has not improved. ASG S.V. Raju does not dispute the same position. In view of the above, the interim bail granted to the petitioner is extended for a further period of three months as prayed for,” the top court ordered.

Earlier on August 11, the Supreme Court granted interim relief to Malik solely on medical grounds for a term of two months on such terms and conditions as may be determined by the trial court.

The ED arrested Malik in February 2022 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in a money-laundering case arising out of an alleged undervalued property deal with underworld links.

11 UN staff, 30 students at UN schools killed in Gaza: UN spokesperson 12

At least 11 United Nations staff and personnel, as well as 30 students at UN schools, have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the October 7 attack by Hamas terrorists on Israel, according to The Times of Israel.

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said, “11 United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) staff and personnel have been killed since Saturday”, referring to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees which also runs schools in Gaza.

“30 UNRWA students have also been killed and another eight have been injured,” she said.

The victims include five teachers, a gynaecologist, an engineer, a counselor, and three support staff, UNRWA’s deputy director Jennifer Austin said in a statement.

She further said, “UNRWA mourns this loss and is grieving with our colleagues and the families. UN staff and civilians must be protected at all times during conflict. We call for the fighting to come to an end to spare more civilian lives.” Reportedly, over 250,000 people in Gaza have fled from their homes, the UN said.

However, most of these people have crowded into schools run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, The Times of Israel reported.

Marking the sixth day of the fatal rocket fire attack by Hamas, over 1,200 people have been killed, more than 3000 injured and an estimated 100–150 were abducted and taken to the Gaza Strip.

The Israel Air Force’s chief of staff, Brigadier General Omer Tishler, said that the Israeli Air Force was not targeting civilians in the Gaza Strip but that the strikes were no longer “surgical”.

“We do not act like the other side, we do not attack the civilian population. Behind every attack there is a target,” he said. “We act precisely and professionally but not surgically. I’m not talking about single, tens, or hundreds [of strikes]. We are talking about thousands of munitions,” Tishler said.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Monday that he has ordered a “complete siege” of the Gaza Strip.

“I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel; everything is closed,” Gallant said. “We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly,” he added.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on Wednesday to protect civilians and for international humanitarian law to be upheld.

“About 220,000 Palestinians are now sheltering in 92 UNRWA facilities across Gaza,” he said, adding that UN premises, hospitals, clinics, and schools must “never be targeted.” The Palestinian envoy also mentioned Israel’s Defence Minister’s statement in the letter, which said, “We are fighting human animals… We are imposing a complete siege on Gaza. There will be no electricity, no water, and no fuel. Everything will be closed”.

He claimed that “Israeli occupying forces (IOF)” continue attacking civilian areas across the Gaza Strip, firing missiles, bombs, and artillery by air, land, and sea. Violating all rules of international humanitarian law, Israel is deliberately targeting homes, including apartment buildings, refugee camps, hospitals and other medical facilities, UNRWA schools, mosques, and other civilian properties and infrastructure, including roads, hampering the passage of emergency vehicles and access of humanitarian personnel to aid the wounded.

The letter mentioned that the casualties are estimated at 849 Palestinians killed, including families in their entirety throughout Gaza, and over 5,350 wounded by lethal IOF attacks in the days since Israel began its onslaught on October 7. The toll is rising by the minute.

He emphasised that the harm being done to children and women is unspeakable. Children are being traumatized and terrorized, orphaned by the hundreds as their parents are murdered before their eyes, displaced as their homes are blown up and reduced to rubble, and among the dead and wounded, with reports of over 140 children killed.

As of this writing, it is estimated that more than 80 women are also among the dead, with casualty figures still rising.

Giving details about the destruction, the Palestinian envoy sought to stop the bloodshed and save civilian lives and he reiterated that the targeting of civilians must be halted immediately.

Meanwhile, earlier, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said that the US was “actively discussing” with Israel and Egypt to ensure safe passage for civilians from Gaza, according to The Times of Israel.

“We support safe passage for civilians. Civilians are not to blame for what Hamas has done. They didn’t do anything wrong, and we continue to support safe passage,” Kirby said during a press briefing.

As of Wednesday, the coastal enclave, home to 2.3 million people have been dealing with deteriorating condition as entire city blocks were reduced to rubble and residents searched for places to go.

Moreover, the power plant in the Gaza Strip ceased operations on Wednesday afternoon after running out of fuel, the Gaza Energy Authority announced, The Jerusalem Post reported.

In an update posted on X, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that dozens of warplanes attacked more than 80 targets throughout Beit Hanon during the night.

“Dozens of warplanes attacked over 80 targets throughout Beit Hanon during the night. Among other things, the planes attacked two bank branches used by the terrorist organization Hamas to finance terrorism in the Gaza Strip, an underground terrorist tunnel in the territory of the Gaza Strip and two operational headquarters used by the terrorist organization Hamas to direct terrorism to the State of Israel,” IDF posted on X.

Gaza’s Civil Defense Department has warned that there were only a few rescue teams to search for survivors buried under rubble and that teams were unable to reach many places owing to the damaged roads and constant bombardments.

“There is no safe place in Gaza right now,” said journalist Hasan Jabar after three Palestinian journalists were killed in the bombardment of a downtown neighbourhood home to government ministries, media offices, and hotels. “I am genuinely afraid for my life.”

4 dead, 70 injured as Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express derails near Bihar's Buxar 14

At least four passengers died and 70 others were injured when six coaches of the Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express derailed near the Raghunathpur station in Bihar’s Buxar district on Wednesday night, officials said.

The derailment occurred at 9:53 pm and at least two AC III Tier coaches toppled over while four other coaches jumped the tracks, television visuals showed.

Buxar Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar told PTI that four passengers had died in the accident. A Railway Police Force official said at least 70 passengers have been injured and shifted to local hospitals. Those with serious injuries were rushed to AIIMS, Patna.

“Will find the root cause of derailment,” Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on X, even as he expressed condolences for the loss of lives.

The minister said evacuation and rescue operations were completed and all coaches have been checked.

The 23-coach 12506 North East Express had departed the Anand Vihar terminal in Delhi at 7:40 am on Wednesday for its nearly 33-hour journey to Kamakhya, about six kilometres away from Guwahati.

“The train was coming at a normal speed but suddenly we heard a loud sound and a plume of smoke rose out of the train. We rushed to see what happened. We saw that the train had derailed and the AC coaches were the most damaged,” Hari Pathak, a local resident said.

Television visuals showed locals rushing to the rescue of the passengers and helping them come out of at least two toppled coaches. The visuals also showed a woman passenger in a state of shock being helped out of a coach by locals.

Several police officials were also seen at the spot helping rescue passengers from the train.

Jagdishpur SDPO Rajiv Chandra Singh said electric wires and poles, and rail tracks have been damaged due to the accident. He said that while some coaches lost balance and fell, none of them overturned due to which there are less casualties. “The technical team can give the details of the cause (of the accident),” he added.

Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway zone Birendra Kumar told PTI that the accident took place less than half an hour after the train left the Buxar station and was headed for Ara.

“The derailment took place near Raghunathpur station where the train does not have a scheduled stoppage,” he said.

Relief measures were initiated immediately after the incident, with ambulances and doctors rushing to the site.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav issued a statement saying that the departments of disaster management and health have been asked to take immediate steps to ensure the quickest possible relief to as many people as possible.

“I have also spoken to the district magistrates of Buxar and Bhojpur (where Ara is headquartered) with instructions to reach the site at the earliest and speed up relief work,” he said.

“In Sub-Divisional Hospital Jagdishpur and Shahpur Hospital, District Bhojpur, medical officers and other health workers are ready for rescue and relief operations. Ambulances from Rohtas, Buxar and Bhojpur districts have been sent to the spot,” Yadav added.

A railways official said alternative arrangements have been made to ferry passengers of the derailed train to their respective destinations.

A scratch rake was dispatched from Patna to ferry passengers from the accident site, the official said. A scratch rake is a temporary rake with a similar configuration as the original train. Six buses too were sent to the accident site to evacuate the passengers to safety.

A railway official said one rake has been arranged from Ara to end the stranded passengers to their onward journeys.

“Medical teams have been sent to the spot,” Deepak Kumar, Inspector, Railway Police Force, told reporters, adding that the district administration had alerted local hospitals in Buxar town.

“We have sent rescue and medical teams to the spot. The railways has also issued emergency helpline numbers for passengers. These are 9771449971 (Patna), 8905697493 (Danapur), 8306182542 (Ara), 8306182542 and 7759070004,” he said.

War rooms have been established for monitoring and early restoration of the coaches and rescue operations were going on in full swing, a railway official said.

At least 18 trains operating on the route, including the Rajdhani Express between Delhi and Dibrugarh, have been diverted.

RBI ban on onboarding customers via app can affect growth trajectory of Bank of Baroda

RBI ban on onboarding customers via app can affect growth trajectory of Bank of Baroda 18

RBI’s ban on onboarding customers via BOB World can affect the growth trajectory of Bank of Baroda in the retail product segments over the near term, analysts said.

The RBI has directed Bank of Baroda (BOB) to suspend onboarding customers through its BOB World mobile application. The move was driven by concerns regarding the processes and the manner in which BOB has acquired a large number of customers through its digital platform, the RBI said. There have been media articles recently about the process lapses at BOB in order to rapidly boost the number of digital customers.

The RBI has advised that further onboarding of customers via the ‘bob World’ application will be subject to rectification of the deficiencies and strengthening of the underlying processes. “Going by the recent digital embargo episode on another private bank, we think that the ban may stay for at least a few quarters”, Motilal Oswal Financial Services said in a report.

“While there may not be any near-term asset quality implications of this ban, but given the rising mix of digital sourcing and the higher cross-sell rate that the bank has been focusing on via BOB World, this ban can affect the growth trajectory in the retail product segments over the near term,” the report said.

Retail loan growth currently stands at 25 per cent YoY, led by strong growth across secured and unsecured products. “We will be watchful of growth in unsecured PL as the current growth rate is 83 per cent YoY (100 per cent YoY growth in FY23). The RBI has already been cautioning about faster growth in these segments,” the report said.

The bank has 53m app downloads and 30m activated users as of March’23. The ban may impact the bank’s ability to sustain healthy business growth, as about 98 per cent /91 per cent of SA/CA acquisitions are currently done through digital channels, the report said.

Moreover, 58 per cent of FDs and 42 per cent of RDs are also booked via digital channels. On the lending front, 61 per cent of credit cards and 89 per cent of personal loans are sourced digitally. Even in other retail products, 67-68 per cent of home and auto loans are sourced digitally and the bank has been guiding to increase the mix of the RAM segments in total loans, the report said.
