Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday said that those who “ill-treated people from Bihar” are now with the Bharatiya Janata Party in Maharashtra, while also stating that everyone existed “peacefully” under the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

Thackeray was on a visit to Bihar where he held a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Speaking to the reporters after the meeting, Thackeray said that Maharashtra was moving forward when there was an MVA government.

“Those who ill-treated people from Bihar are with the BJP, they should answer. Everyone existed peacefully in Maharashtra. In the last two and a half years when there was the MVA government, we were working according to the Constitution and the state was moving forward,” he said.

Thackeray’s remarks came in response to a question if the safety of the people from Bihar would be ensured in Maharashtra. The response of the Shiv Sena leader is crucial as a large chunk of the migrants from Bihar live in Mumbai.

Elaborating on the issues discussed during the meeting with Tejashwi, he said that they did not have any political conversation. “We had discussions on various issues like the environment, development, and industries. The most important thing is that any youth who wants to work for the country, employment, Constitution and against inflation. If all of us keep interacting, we can do something good for the country. We have not had any political conversation today,” he said. When asked who would lead the politics by the youth, the Shiv Sena leader said, “Anyone can do the job.

Tejashwi is working well, we keep on interacting. We are long racehorses.” He lauded the work of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and said that Bihar has seen significant progress under their leadership.

Thackeray’s visit to Bihar comes ahead of the civic body polls in Mumbai.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa has hit out at Bollywood actress Richa Chadha and demanded a police case to be registered against her for her reaction to an Indian Army’s statement. In a video statement released on Thursday, Sirsa said, “Chadha is a third-graded actress in Bollywood. She is known to post objectionable tweets against India. She is a Congress supporter and follower of Rahul Gandhi.”

“I would like to ask the Mumbai police to register a case against Richa in relevant sections. This is a clear disrespect of the Indian army and those who lost their lives in Galwan, and she must be penalised for her statement,” said BJP leader Sirsa. The actress had in a tweet commented on Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi’s statement that the Army is ready to take back Pakistan Occupied Kashmir if the government issues the order. “Galwan says hi,” the actress said on Wednesday while tweeting the Army Officer’s statement.

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa, after Chadha’s tweet, called it “Disgraceful”, and said that the tweet should be withdrawn at the earliest. “Insulting our armed forces is not justified,” Sirsa said in his tweet. There was a clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers at Galwan valley in Ladakh in the year 2020. The fight was an outcome of Chinese forces making aggressive moves in Ladakh, and intruding into the disputed region of Indian territory, and 20 Indian soldiers died in the clash. Lt General Upendra Dwivedi’s statement was made with reference to Defence Minister’s previous address in which he reiterated New Delhi’s resolve to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), saying all refugees would get their land and homes back. Lt General Upendra Dwivedi said, “As far as the Indian Army is concerned, it will carry out any order given by the Government of India. Whenever such orders are given, we will always be ready for it.”

“The military is always ready to make sure that ceasefire understanding is never broken as it is in the interest of both nations, but if broken at any time, we will give them a befitting reply,” said Dwivedi, Northern Army Commander on the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said people should ensure that their name is enlisted in the voter list else they will be sent to detention camps in the name of National Register of Citizens (NRC). Banerjee said, “Update and correction in the voter list is going on. The process will continue till December 5. I urge all the people to ensure that your name is there on the voter list or else you will be sent to detention camps in the name of NRC.”

“At times they (common people) are told they are not Indian citizens, but if they are not, how did they vote? You became PM because of our votes, and today you are saying you will provide us citizenship rights. What does it mean? Are not you insulting us,” she added.

Earlier this month, West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Sukanta Majumdar said the Citizenship (Amendment) Act will be implemented in the state and if Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee opposes it, it will be like challenging the sovereignty of the nation.

Speaking to Agecies, Majumdar had said, “The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, has already been passed in both houses of the Parliament. Now it lies with the central government. It will be implemented throughout the country. If Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee opposes this it means she is challenging the sovereignty of the country. CAA will be implemented in Bengal. If she does not want that it means she does not want refugees to become citizens.”

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had asserted that she will never allow the implementation of CAA in West Bengal.

She further alleged that the BJP has been making rhetoric over CAA and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) keeping an eye on the upcoming Gujarat assembly polls. In a series of allegations against the BJP, the Trinamool Congress supremo said the ruling party at the Centre was trying to incite separatism in West Bengal by raising the demand for a separate state, and added that she would never allow the bifurcation of Bengal.

Japan made a scintillating comeback to create a massive upset against Germany, defeating the four-time champions 2-1 in the group E match of the FIFA World Cup at the Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday.

Germany were leading at the end of the first half but Japan scaled up their game in the second half, scoring in the 75th minute through Ritsu Doan and in the 83rd minute through Takuma Asano.

Takuma Asano was brought in as a substitution in the 57th minute and proved his mettle in the match as Japanese supporters yelled and cheered from the stands.

The second half saw the Japanese players come with a new fervour, zeal and confidence as they dominated the ball possession and made constant runs to the German box.

Gundogan, who had scored for Germany through the penalty kick in the first half, continued his good form and came very close to scoring in the 60th minute but his the ball ricocheted off the goalpost to huge disappointment of German fans.

Germany ended with superior ball possession and shots on goal but piercing attacks by Japanese team left them vulnerable. With this win, Japan has got to the top of the table in Group E which also features Germany, Costa Rica and Spain.

Germany were leading Japan 1-0 at half-time after Ilkay Gundogan scored via penalty kick in the group E match at the Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday.

Japan goalkeeper Shuichi Gonda failed to prevent a goal in the 32nd minute of the match. Gundogan netted the ball straight into the goal through a penalty kick to give Germany 1-0 lead.

The four-time FIFA champions wasted no time and came out all guns blazing as they went deep inside the Japanese box in the second minute of the game and looked threatening from the beginning.

Daizen Maeda challenged German Antonio Rudiger to dribble the ball past him but the centre-back was alert and cut the Japanese’ run short. Maeda was in the reckoning once again in the 8th minute as he made a brilliant run to get to the ball perfectly and score, only to be called off-side.

There was a constant struggle between the sides for possession. Japan also had the advantage for some time. Germany came close to scoring in the 16th minute with a superb corner kick from Joshua Walter Kimmich that was headed just a few inches wide by Rudiger.

A free-kick was given to Germany as Thomas Muller was brought down by Takefusa Kubo in the 18th minute but the Germans failed to score off it. Gundogan troubled the Japan team with his brilliant football skill as he managed to constantly find vacant spaces in the field.

The German finally scored via a penalty to give Germany a one-goal lead over Japan. Japanese players seemed a bit demotivated after trailing and faltered with the ball, giving possession to the German players in the first half.

Germany almost took a 2-0 lead in the closing minutes of the first half after Kai Havertz found the back of the net but was called off-side. The result of the match was similar to that on Tuesday when Saudi Arabia had shocked fancied Argentina 2-1.

Japan caused an upset much similar to the match between Saudi Arabia and Argentina on Tuesday. Both Japan and Saudi Arabia came from behind to clinch famous victories against their fancied rivals.

A resilient Morocco held Croatia to a goalless draw in their first encounter of the FIFA World as the two teams shared one point each.

Both the teams started with a 4-3-3 formation and Croatia, who are the 2018 World Cup runners-up, sought to stamp their authority from the beginning as they kept possession of the ball in the beginning minutes of the game played at the Al-Bayt Stadium in a Group F encounter.

The first attack came from Croatia in the 6th minute, when they made a run from the left towards the Moroccan goalpost. Romain Saiss, the Morocco goalkeeper, was alert and prevented the threat of a goal.

However, in the process, he conceded a corner to Croatia which was eventually evaded by the Moroccan defense.

The Morocco team finally found possession of the ball and attacked in the ninth minute of the game but midfielder Selim Amallah failed to shoot as he lost his footing while trying to get past the Croatia defenders.

After the few initial minutes, both teams seemed to have found their rhythm, improving their game, creating chances and making for great viewership. Tottenham Hotspur star Ivan Perisic had a real chance to score in the 18th minute after a loose ball from the midfield reached him, but the change went begging as the winger shot it a few inches above the Moroccan goalpost.

Luka Modric conceded a free kick in the 22nd minute after he fouled Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi. The free kick near the goal was taken by Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech, who blasted the ball into the Croatian wall.

Croatia then counter-attacked and pushed the ball forward, winning a penalty corner. Modric took the corner but it went in vain as he couldn’t clear the first man. Croatia couldn’t keep up the pressure as they kept providing chances to Morocco.

Modric fouled yet again in the 42nd minute, giving away another free kick. Ziyech once again took the free kick, failing again to score a goal.

The Moroccans did have their hearts in their mouths in the closing minutes of the first half as the Croatians came close to scoring. Yassine Bounou made two crucial saves in the dying minutes to deny Croatia a goal, ending the first half with 0-0.

The second half was much quicker and picked up pace as both teams created chances to score as intense action marked the start of the final half.

Moroccan players Mazraoui and Bounou were involved in a minor incident that required medical attention from doctors and the players paused for a drinks break.

Hakimi sent a brilliant cross into Croatia’s penalty box in the 64th minute but it was kept out by the defenders, getting Morocco a free kick. Ziyech and Hakimi came together to take the free kick, Ziyech rolled out the ball to Hakimi to take a shot at the goal but he hit it straight to the goalkeeper.

Several chances were created by both teams but none could find the net as the match ended in a draw. Morocco, who had failed to open its account in the 2018 World Cup, scored a point.
