Now, Lalu asks Narendra Modi to take oath afresh as PM

With his elder son drawing flak for mispronouncing a Hindi word during his swearing-in ceremony, now RJD supremo Lalu Prasad has raked up an issue, saying Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take his oath of office afresh as he had “mispronounced” the word ‘akshunn’ during his oath-taking ceremony in 2014.

Modi, he said, did not properly pronounce the word ‘akshunn’ (unharmed) while taking oath as the prime minister on May 20, 2014 and instead pronounced it as ‘akshann’ which does not have a literal meaning.

“Desh ko todne ka inka agenda hai hi kyunki PM ne desh ki prabhuta and akhandata ko ‘akshunn’ (unharmed) rakhne ki sapath to li hi nahin thee (Their (BJP) agenda to break the country is intact as the PM had not taken oath properly to maintain unharmed the unity and integrity of the country),” Prasad said in his posts on a social networking site on Sunday.

By mispronouncing the word, Modi has rendered his oath “futile” and he should “take it afresh”, Prasad said. “Akshunn (unharmed) hi nahin bola to shapath bekaar hai… PM ko dobara shapath leni chahiye…’akshann’ ka hindi mein koi shabdik arth nahin hai (PM did not say Akshunn (unharmed) which renders his oath futile…He should take oath afresh as ‘akshann’ word has no literal meaning in Hindi,” he said.

Assam Governor can go to Nepal, I will not go to Pakistan, says Azam Khan

Reacting to Assam Governor PB Acharya’s statement that Indian Muslims are “free to go Pakistan”, Uttar Pradesh Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Monday said that he will not go to the neighbouring country, but if Acharya wants he can go to Nepal.

Khan’s comments came after, Acharya stoked a controversy with his reported “Hindustan is for Hindus” remark and also saying that “Muslims in India are free to go anywhere …If they want to go to Pakistan, Bangladesh, they are free to go”.

As his reported remarks came under fire, Acharaya on Sunday said that what he meant was that all Indian-origin people, including Muslims, persecuted in any foreign lands were welcome in the country.

“We should keep in our mind, only because a person is persecuted because of his religion in any country, if Indian Christian is persecuted in Pakistan, he has to come to India. Where else will he go? Indian Christian, Indian Buddhist, Indian Jain, Indian Hindu.

“If a European Christian is persecuted or an European Hindu…If he is persecuted in Belgium, he cannot come to India…

“Indian Muslims are free to go anywhere. They can stay here if they want to stay here, many have gone to Pakistan. If they want to go to Pakistan, Bangladesh, they are free to. If they are persecuted there, Taslima Nasreen (author) was persecuted there, she came here. If they come we’ll give them shelter. India is big-hearted,” he said.

Ex-prez Abdul Kalam’s nephew quits BJP over memorial row

Former president APJ Abdul Kalam’s grand nephew APJ Sheikh Salim, who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party recently, quit the party on Monday. Syed Ibrahim was reportedly upset with the BJP-led Central government for not making Kalam’s Delhi bungalow as memorial and allotting it to an Union minister.

Union Tourism and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma was allotted Kalam’s bungalow in Lutyens’ Delhi. The former president’s house at 10 Rajaji Marg was allotted to Sharma after Kalam’s family members vacated it on October 18.

Defending the allotment of Kalam’s bungalow to Sharma, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu had said the allocation was made as per “rules and procedures” of the government.

“All our ministers have been allocated government accommodation one after another. Only Mahesh Sharma could not be allocated. Earlier, 7 Tyagraj Marg was allotted to him but the occupant that time did not vacate the bungalow,” he said.

“Now the 10 Rajaji Marg bungalow, which has become vacant, has been allocated to Sharma as per rules and procedures on the basis of vacation by former President Kalam’s staff,” he said.

Quoting Rule 3 of the Ministers Residence Rules, 1962, he said, “Cabinet Ministers and Ministers of State shall be allotted Type VIII accommodation subject to availability and in that order.”

Salim had joined the BJP on September 28, 2015 in New Delhi. After joining the BJP, Salim had said that he wanted to make Kalam’s idea of “Vision 2020” a reality. He added that according to him only BJP was capable of making it a reality and develop the country.

It was Lalu who pulled and hugged me, will continue to fight corruption, clarifies Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday that it was RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav who first shook hands with him and then pulled and hugged him.

Kejriwal clarified that he had not taken the initiative and that AAP was against Lalu’s record of corruption.

The Aam Aadmi Party leader also added that the party would continue to fight corruption and that he had not done any alliance with Lalu’s party.

“I go to Rashtrapati Bhawan. All party leaders come there. They meet us. In Nitish Kumar’s swearing in Lalu Yadav was on the stage. He shook hand and pulled me and hugged me. And held my hand and raised it. It was projected and questions were asked. We have not formed an alliance. We are against his record of corruption and we’ll always oppose it,” Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal made the comments at his party’s National Council meeting here.

Further, Kejriwal said that he was opposed to dynasty politics the kind that was witnessed in Bihar with two of Lalu’s sons sworn in as ministers.

“His two sons are ministers. We are against that too. I am happy that questions are being asked. Questions are being asked because people have hope, because they think we are different. Nobody asks questions when other leader hug Lalu ji, it’s good for us,” Kejriwal added.

The RJD chief cannot contest elections as of now as he has been convicted in a fodder scam case.

The Delhi CM has drew flak from various quarters for hugging RJD chief during the oath-taking ceremony of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

After the image of him embracing Lalu went viral, Kejriwal’s former colleague and Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav said that it was a “shameful” act.

Yadav, who was expelled from AAP, added that said it was not mere hugging, but the defeat of ideals to form a bloc against the BJP.

LJP leader Chirag Paswan said he was surprised to see Kejriwal hugging Prasad.

“You cannot give Lalu ji a benefit of doubt as he has been convicted in a corruption case. Kejriwal is known for his anti-corruption stand and his hugging Lalu ji indicates whether he has stopped his war against corruption,” he said.

And BJP’s Sambit Patra too attacked Kejriwal saying the AAP chief used to hold one press conference after another in which he would name Prasad in his list of most corrupt politicians.

Kejriwal was criticised even on social media with many even posting a tweet of his that wrote in October 2013.

“Laloo made crores in fodder scam. But no order for recovery of that money. Just 25 lakh fine and few years in jail. A sweet deal,” the Delhi CM had tweeted.
