Questions pertaining to Ranbir Kapoor’s marriage to Katrina Kaif have been the talk of the town but his “Tamasha” co-star Deepika Padukone says the actor will not wed till the time she gives her nod.
Ranbir, 33, who dated Deepika for a year, shares an amicable relationship with the actress post their split.
“Ranbir can’t get married till I allow it…,” said Deepika.
To which Ranbir, who has been dating Katrina for sometime, added, “It’s a very big question about my life. I completely believe in the institution of marriage. When I will get married, I will let the whole world know about it.”
Imtiaz Ali’s “Tamasha” is Ranbir and Deepika’s third film together after “Bachna Ae Haseeno” and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani”.
The co-stars took a train ride from Mumbai to Delhi to promote their upcoming film, which is slated to hit the screens this Friday.
Ranbir and the “Piku” star started their career in 2008 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Saawariya” and Shah Rukh Khan starter “Om Shanti Om”, respectively.
“It feels just like yesterday. I saw Deepika outside ‘Saawariya’ sets walking across to ‘Om Shanti Om’ set. Eight years have passed and we have no idea. We have worked hard and reached the point we have desired for in our lives,” Ranbir said.
For Deepika, 29, Ranbir is still the same person that she met eight years ago.
“It’s a very unique situation. We have heard about actors debuting in the same year but actors debuting on the same day is something which does not happen normally. I hope he never changes. But it has been an amazing journey.”
Development of plans and procedures for recovery of persons from the water is sought, without realizing who is going to read the manual. Even the normal instructions and procedures under ISM code are rarely read by any one. During spare time, the third or second officer lays out these manuals on the bridge and spreads the word by mouth, when you come up, please come and sign the manuals on the index pages. Ninety five per cent of the crew sign them even without knowing the title of the manual they are signing (they indulge in some small talk or a joke while signing). This doesn’t mean that they are bad and unproductive.
Such techniques can more effectively be taught during safety meetings, training drills and by showing and discussing a video. We like to view and learn instead of learning through reading. Are you aware that training manuals (safety manuals) on board are the least read books on the ship, though these are ship specific? These books can be read in your cabin and you can keep it back to its actual location after 3 to 4 days. You can also read them in ECR, bridge in open seas during long voyages.
We already have SCBA compressors on board but generally the responsibility is passed on to third officer and third engineer to be familiar with it. It is better to operate and get familiar about it during the drills. If someone inquires you about air quality, don’t get stumped.
I have spent many years at sea but if you ask me to write about the certificates required to be carried by a vessel, even I may miss two or three of these. When you go to recruiting office officials take your 14 to 15 certificates for scanning. Unless you remain careful, the last original document will remain stuck with the machine. Hence it is necessary to count the documents before leaving the office. Half of these certificates may be bogus, issued without adequate training and signed by gentlemen who themselves may not be upto date with correct knowledge. There are COCs and CDCs issued by Panama, Liberia, Cayman Island, Marshall Island, Norwegian, Belize etc; and probably you will require another briefcase to hold all these documents. The same aspect is applicable to oil record books.
IACS must ask its members to prepare a report to ascertain how many bunker tanks on board are really in use. One or two of them might not be operating due to sludge in it or heating coils leaking and not repaired due to economic constraints. IMO have been performing a very good job. However, they must introspect to see if they have inadvertently burdened only the seamen with documentation and opened avenues for others to make money.
Svetlana Pokrevskaya makes a bold promise to all those who carry out her plan in just one month’s time, you won’t recognise yourself. As she explains, “Recently, I received a letter from one of my readers. ’Hi, Svetlana! I want to change my life based on your lifestyle!’
Wow. I began to wonder — do I actually have a specific “lifestyle”? Well, it seems I have! And straight away I wanted to put it into words, setting it out logically point by point. And it actually turns out to be ridiculously simple. I ended up putting it into four sections — one a week. That’s just one month of independent work in order to change your life for the better! So, for every week there’s a plan made up of three tasks, which you need to incorporate into your life and keep doing for the rest of the month. Ideally, you should continue doing them even after this, but that’s for you to decide.
Week 1: Purifying your mind and body
An early start, around 6 am. This is when you’ll find the time for yourself which you never have enough of during the day. You’ll find it to be a period of peace and quiet, when you’ll be able to sort out various things which you need to do without being distracted, because everyone else is still asleep. This is an ideal time for morning exercises, which will help prepare you for living the upcoming day to the maximum. Feeling lazy and a reluctance to get out of bed early really aren’t an indication that you are tired. In my opinion, this shows that you don’t really want to live your own life. What’s the point in getting out of bed, when it’ll just be the same depressing weather, the subway, traffic, work…But what if, instead of this mentality, you realised another great day is coming up, and your first thought when you woke up was ’roll on the morning!’? Admit it — if you felt like this, getting up early would hardly be a problem.
Better nutrition. The upcoming changes will demand a tremendous amount of energy from you. Most likely, you’re currently using up most of your energy on keeping your body functioning in the face of the effects of alcohol, cigarettes, and heavy, fatty or otherwise unhealthy food. Each of us has our own personal set of such vices which we need to own up to. Or rather, we need to overcome them. You can choose whichever kind of diet seems right to you. Personally, I’m vegetarian and believe in eating uncooked food. But there’s one thing which I know applies to all of us: alcohol, potato chips, sugary drinks, pre-prepared meals, junk food — none of these things fit into anyone’s idea of healthy eating. Therefore, you should cut all of these things out of your diet.
I love sport and for me it’s absolutely mandatory. I never tire of saying that keeping one’s body well-toned and healthy is vital for one’s spiritual health. To shake some life out of a tired body, you need to shake your body itself! And by any method which seems right for you. I like yoga, running and dancing. Try to move around a lot more every day, in any way you can — dance in front of the mirror when you’re getting ready for work; take a pass on the elevator in favour of the stairs; establish a full workout for yourself at the gym.
Week 2: Putting your private life in order
Clean up your personal space. Throw out everything! It’s time to bring order to every corner, table and cupboard in your home (stuffing things in the attic doesn’t count). Think about it: every single object in your house — even the smallest — not only takes up space, but also consumes some of your energy. Is it really worth holding on to it? I became so keen on this method that I threw almost all of my things out in the trash. Keep only stuff which really is useful or you actually need, which makes you happy, or which you most cherish. One other thing — if up till now you’ve kept that teddy bear which your lover gave you for Valentines Day in 1998, but you already broke up with them a long time ago, then you don’t need such ’happy’ memories any more. Rid yourself of it, without hesitation.
Sort out your personal business; fulfil your obligations. Do you remember how many years it is that you’ve been planning to learn Spanish? And how many times have you promised to drive up to visit your grandparents on the East Coast? How many of your New Year’s resolutions have you been transferring from the old to the new list, already for years on end? You need to remind yourself of all the promises which you’ve made to yourself and to others, and decide how you’re going to deal with them. You essentially have two options: (1) fulfil them, or (2) striking them from your ’to do’ list forever.
Sort out your social life. Break off any relationships which you feel pull you backwards or make you depressed. Give up talking to all those who have a negative outlook, who are arrogant, and with whom you have nothing in common. Learn to just walk away, and to say no.
Week 3: Plans, goals and dreams
Write down, and then carry out your plans. It seems we’ve ended up with a list of tasks to do from last week. How does this make you feel? Do you feel happy and enthusiastic about this? Are you rolling up your sleeves in anticipation? If the answer’s no, then maybe it’s worth striking off a few more things. Or alternatively, actually carry them out, and thenstrike them off. In both cases though, the result that awaits you is a surge in strength and a renewed thirst for life. Remember, what is it that you love or at some point used to love doing? Don’t forget that you should not only be taking your work and financial obligations seriously, but also plan your free time — so you can relax, see friends and loved ones, and (this is the one everyone always forgets) find time for yourself. You should write the kind of plan that you’ll be itching to get started on. Write it out all in one go, and don’t forget to include specific deadlines and steps to take.
List your most implausible dreams. This is one of my absolute favourite things to do. I do this exercise regularly, and each time my ideas become even more ridiculous. You have to make a list of all those things you dream of doing, but which is so implausible that you know it will absolutely never happen. This might include becoming ruler of the world or climbing Mount Everest when you’re 89. Ignore the sensible voice in your head ,and imagine that the world is your oyster; all you have to do is click your fingers. You have all the time, money, connections, and talent that you need. What would you do? By the way, my first list of pipe-dreams of this kind, which I wrote back in February 2014, has now been completely realised in its entirety. And now I find it funny that my wishes were so modest, but at the time they seemed impossible to achieve.
Plan things on a daily basis. Write a plan for the next day every evening. It doesn’t matter whether it’s short, or only a rough plan — it can be any kind of plan as long as you’ve written it. And it’s important to do it specifically in the evening. Even if you don’t remember anything from it the next day, you’ll be more productive.
Week 4:Expand your horizons
Try to live differently. Even the smallest things can have an effect. Take a different route to work. Drop into a cafe where you’ve never been before, or a very expensive shop. Try a new kind of sport. Try doing what you’ve never done before. And every day, when you’re busy with stuff you’re used to doing all the time, ask yourself the question — what can I do a little differently right now? You need to get into the habit of trying something new; that way you’ll gradually get off the beaten track.
Get out of your comfort zone. Of course, if you’ve managed to carry out all the previous steps, you’ve already advanced a long way out of your comfort zone. But you need to go further and look your biggest fears in the eyes. And not only look at them, but also do battle with them. On this subject, I am a proponent of radical methods. Scared of heights? Go skydiving. Terrified of your boss? Go to him alone with a new project proposal.
Take a break. You thought what? This is going to be all hard work? Only ’taking a break’ here means that you have to get out of the house, turn off the Wi-Fi connection, and spend some time alone. It also means giving yourself some honest feedback. What was this past month like for you? How did it all go, what changes occurred in your life? And how will you carry on and go further now that it’s over?
The things which await you as you stand at the mid-way point in this journey (that’s right, it’s not the end, for this road goes on forever) will exceed your expectations. By carrying out these things (which are really very simple!) every day and working them into your life, you’ll begin to feel a sense of harmony and omnipotence; you’ll start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Yes, it sounds a bit pretentious…but believe me, it’s true.”
The draft bill says whoever imposes or causes to impose any social boycott would, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment which may extend to seven years, or fine up to Rs 5 lakh, or both.
The Maharashtra government has prepared a draft bill ‘Maharashtra Prohibition of Social Boycott Act, 2015 for ending the practice of social boycott. If the bill is passed successfully, Maharashtra will become the first state in the country to enact a law making social boycott a punishable offence. Despite modernisation social boycott is prevalent in various regions of the state. Caste panchayats have a vice-like grip on the customs and practices of their ilk and anyone found to deviate faces punishments like ostracism. As per the provisions of the draft bill, social boycott is prohibited and amounts to an offence. The state has urged the public to send suggestions on the provisions of the draft Bill in the next two weeks.
Any offence punishable under this Act would be cognizable and bailable and triable by a Metropolitan Magistrate or a Judicial Magistrate of the First Class. Whoever imposes or causes to impose any social boycott would, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment which may extend to seven years, or fine up to Rs 5 lakh, or both. Any person who abets the offence would be punished with imprisonment which may extend to three years, or fine up to Rs 3 lakh, or both. The draft, nonetheless focuses only on intra-caste ostracism and does not increase its ambit to tackle inter-caste or inter-religious ostracism. It defines community as a group where members are connected through religion, caste and sub-caste.
The bill further prohibits assembling to impose social boycott. Such a gathering would be treated as unlawful assembly, and convening, organising or participating in such an assembly would be punishable with a fine which may extend to Rs 1.5 lakh.
The District Collector, the Social Boycott Prohibition Officer and the Police would be given the respective powers to act in accordance with the Act, the bill states. It further mandates the trial to be completed within a period of six months from the date of filing of the chargesheet so as to ensure speedy justice.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced his intent to ban the practice of social boycott during the discussion on the issue of growing incidence of the menace in the state, in the last Monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly. The government has now come up with the draft bill and sought citizens’ suggestions on the same.
An official in the Chief Minister’s Office said, “The right to live with dignity is a Fundamental Right enshrined in Article 21 of the Constitution and also a basic human right inherent in human existence.” It has been observed that the practice of social boycott of a person or group of persons, and their family members, still continues in various parts of the state and the existing laws have not proved effective in addressing the issue.
Sheena Bora murder mystery has become a never ending saga of Mumbai crime story. One after another revelations are changing the plot of the story with time. Till date, focus was on Indrani Mukerjea, media trials began but finally no one could reach to any conclusion. Rahul Mukerjea, son of accused Peter Mukerjea in the Sheena Bora murder case, too reached the CBI office and handed over several documents belonging to Sheena to the investigators against the accused in the case. Those are the documents with which Sheena was blackmailing Indrani Mukerjea. According to investigators, Sheena was blackmailing Indrani that if she did not give her a 3 BHK flat in the city, she would expose her by telling people that she was Indrani’s daughter, and not sister, as the latter had claimed. Meanwhile, Peter’s interrogation ended and to seek further remand, the CBI officials have called Rahul to reveal more facts in the case against him.
Constant “blackmailing” of Indrani Mukerjea by her daughter Sheena Bora and relationship with Rahul Mukerjea were among the reasons for her murder in April 2012, according to a CBI official. According to the officer, in 2004, Indrani had gifted a seven BHK flat in Delhi to Sheena. However, the flat wasn’t transferred in Sheena’s name and in 2010 Indrani and Peter sold the apartment for Rs. 1.10 crore without her knowledge. In 2008, Sheena and Rahul got into relationship, which was objected to by both Indrani as well as Peter. Indrani and Peter’s act of selling the flat had enraged Sheena who subsequently started “blackmailing” her mother. Indrani had reportedly told Peter and others known to her that Sheena was her sister. Indrani Mukerjea feared that the impending marriage between Sheena Bora and Rahul Mukerjea would reduce her favourite daughter Vidhie’s share of the property from former husband Sanjeev Khanna. Indrani has a soft corner for Vidhie. Moreover, after the engagement of Rahul and Sheena, Indrani was afraid the entire property might go to the couple, as Peter was fond of his son Rahul. Rahul and Sheena were engaged in October 2011.
On March 8, 2012, she sent an email to Sheena via her son Mikhail Bora, to confirm that they have changed the will and disinherited Sheena from their property and assets as a sign of our disapproval of her relationship with Rahul.
Fed up with Sheena’s constant blackmailing, Indrani and Peter, in 2011, made a will stating that if the couple dies, then Vidhie, Indrani’s daughter with her former husband Sanjeev Khanna, would be the owner of their entire property. Due to all these reasons, a conspiracy was hatched to get rid of Sheena for which Indrani’s driver Shyamvar Rai was also roped in and offered Rs. 2 lakh to help execute the murder plan. This is what the theory which was given by police. Accused Indrani, Rai and Khanna are currently in judicial custody, while Peter is in CBI remand. The CBI also fears that given the financial angle in the case, there could be a threat to the life of Peter and has beefed up security for him in its custody.
The Mukerjeas promoted INX Media, which operated 9X, a Hindi general entertainment channel, 9XM, a music channel, and NewsX, a news channel. Indrani was CEO, while her husband was chairman. They exited the company in 2009 and reportedly generated around Rs. 850 crore. One of the officials probing the money trail said they had collected details of several financial accounts and were about to get more details from India and abroad. A special crime branch team of the CBI is currently investigating the case. As of now, the agency has not roped in the economic offences wing that specialises in probing financial transactions and will ask for their assistance at an appropriate time, said the official.
Peter has been kept under the surveillance of the special task force at the CBI office in Nariman Point and is being provided with outside food. There are clear instructions that only the investigating officer in the case, K K Singh, will order the food and that too from a specific place. CBI officials taste the food before it is offered to Peter in custody. They said they zeroed in on Peter as he was in touch with Indrani on the day of the killing. Both, Peter and Indrani were abroad in April 2012. She returned to Mumbai on April 23, that is, a day before the killing. There were several calls between her and Peter that day and also on the day of the murder, they had long telephone conversations, and even at odd hours. That clearly indicates Peter’s involvement in the conspiracy. So far the story stalled on theories, let see where it ends.
Rahul Mukerjea, son of accused Peter Mukerjea in the Sheena Bora murder case, on Sunday handed over several documents belonging to Sheena, CBI officials said.
A CBI source, requesting anonymity, said, “Rahul Mukerjea is an important link in the murder of Sheena Bora as he has provided several important materials to the investigators against the accused in the case.”
Rahul provided several documents of Sheena Bora to the CBI officials, the officer said, adding that those are the documents with which she was blackmailing Indrani Mukerjea.
According to investigators, Sheena was blackmailing Indrani that if she did not give her a 3 BHK flat in the city, she would expose her by telling people that she was Indrani’s daughter, and not sister, as the latter had claimed.
Meanwhile, Peter’s interrogation would end tomorrow and to seek further remand, the CBI officials have called Rahul to reveal more facts in the case against him, the officer added.
Peter was arrested by the CBI on Thursday in connection with the sensational murder case. On Friday, he was charged with murder and criminal conspiracy by the CBI, which said he had played an active role in the killing.
Other prime accused, Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and former driver Shyamvar Rai, have been remanded to judicial custody till December 3, police said.
Almost a year after allegedly murdering her daughter Sheena Bora, Indrani Mukerjea wanted her husband Peter to believe that she was neither mother nor sister of Sheena and that the 24-year-old victim was very much alive.
This is stated in an email sent by Indrani from Sheena’s account to Peter Mukerjea, who was arrested last week in connection with the murder, as per the charge sheet filed by CBI in the case.
According to the charge sheet filed by CBI on Thursday, investigation agency sources said the mail was one of the many emails that Indrani had sent to people in her bid to make them believe that Sheena was alive.
“It may all sound very bizarre to you but this and only this is the real truth. Indrani is neither my sister nor my mother but just a good Samaritan who arrived in our lives a few years ago,” read the mail, which was sent to Peter on March 14, 2013.
Though Indrani’s lawyer Gunjan Mangla could not be contacted, her former husband and accused Sanjeev Khanna’s lawyer Shreyansh Mithare said he is yet to see the charge sheet.
“I am yet to go through the charge sheet. Hence, I don’t want to comment,” said Mithare.
Peter’s lawyer Niranjan Mundergi also said he has not seen the particular mail, hence, cannot comment.
The email, purportedly sent from Sheena’s account, says that her grandparents had a daughter, whose name was also Indrani. “My grandparents had a daughter and an only child Indrani Bora (your wife’s namesake), who was my mother,” the mail read.
It said that her mother (Indrani Bora) had Sheena and Mikhail from a man she had eloped with as the family totally disapproved the relationship.
“After struggling for couple of years on their own and finding it impossible to make ends meet, they (Indrani Bora and her husband) decided to return home when my mother was pregnant with Mikhail,” the mail said.
According to the email, Sheena’s father belonged to a lower caste and did not come from a financially sound family, the relationship was unacceptable to her grandparents and they were ashamed to acknowledge him.
Rahul Mukerjea, son of accused Peter Mukerjea in the Sheena Bora murder case, on Sunday said that his father is innocent.
“I can’t give the reasons because the case is being investigated. I am confident that my father is innocent,” Rahul said.
On Friday, Peter was charged with murder and criminal conspiracy by the CBI, which said he had played an active role in the killing. His police custody will end on Monday and the CBI is expected to seek further remand of his, a CBI officer said.
Earlier in the day, Rahul went to the CBI office and handed over the documents belonging to Sheena, CBI officials said. Those are the documents with which Sheena was “blackmailing”, a CBI source said.
“Rahul Mukerjea is an important link in the murder of Sheena Bora as he has provided several important materials to the investigators against the accused in the case,” the source added.
Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI with the help of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim is planning to incite communal riots in India.
Both ISI and Dawood may provoke communal riots here by killing some prominent Hindu leaders.
The report further states that Sri Ram Sena founder Pramod Muthalik is on radar of the anti-national forces.
Earlier, the investigation in the murder of two BJP leaders in Gujarat’s Bharuch area had revealed the involvement of fugitive underworld don Chhota Shakeel.
It was also revealed that one of the accused was introduced to Shakeel by the mastermind of murder Javed Chikna.
The two BJP leaders — former party president of Bharuch district and senior RSS member Shirish Bangali and general secretary of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha of Bharuch district Pragnesh Mistry — were shot dead by two unidentified gunmen in Bharuch on November 2.
“Primary investigations revealed that the murders were carried out citing injustice due to the incidents that happened from 1993 (Mumbai riots) to 2002 (Gujarat riots),” Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) chief J K Bhatt was quoted as saying.
It is also speculated that ISI may have funded the killings of the two BJP leaders.
“The ‘supari’ (contract) for killing two leaders was given by absconding (1993) Mumbai blasts accused Javed Chikna from South Africa. He had hired killers for Rs. 50 lakhs to kill those Bharuch based leaders,” Bhatt said adding that the shooters had so far received Rs. 5 lakhs.
Three persons, including a young couple from Thane district, were killed and 15 others were injured in a head-on collision between a tempo and a pick-up van in Nashik district in the wee hours today.
The deceased as well as the injured, all from Vadavali in Thane, were travelling to Shirdi in the newly purchased pick-up van when the accident took place near Wavi village on Sinnar-Shirdi road around 2 am, Hemant Patil, in-charge of Wavi police station, said.
Gyaneshwar Namdev Thakare (30), his wife Neha (27) and Yogita Santosh Choudhari (25) were killed on the spot.
The tempo was coming from the opposite direction of the van, Patil said, adding that its driver has been booked in this connection.
The injured have been admitted to different private hospitals in Sinnar and Nashik.
