Hollywood actor Elizabeth Olsen, who plays the role of Scarlet Witch in the MCU, has shared her thoughts on Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine.
Olsen got the news about Jackman’s return at Variety’s Power of Women, where she expressed shock over the revelation. “Oh really?” Olsen asked when she heard the news. “Wow!”
Olsen wants Scarlet Witch to team up with more X-Men characters on the big screen now that Jackman is returning as Wolverine. Olsen’s character is a mutant in the comic books and the daughter of Magneto, played by both Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender on the big screen.
“I guess Wolverine is X-Men. It would be cool to work with a lot of those people form the X-Men franchise. I guess Fassbender is my dad in some world?” Olsen said when asked about which characters she hopes to team up with in the future of the MCU. Scarlet Witch was last shown in ‘Doctor Stranger in the Multiverse of Madness’ where the character took a villainous turn and her fate was left ambiguous by the end after she sacrificed herself to destroy the Darkhold in a moment of redemption. Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige has confirmed to Variety that the character will be back in future.
“There really is so much more to explore. We still haven’t touched on many of her core storylines from the comics,” Feige said. Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds, on Tuesday, took to social media and shared a video announcing Jackman’s return as Wolverine. “Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?” Reynolds asked as Jackman walks by in the background. T
he last time X-Men fans saw Jackman as Wolverine was in 2016’s R-rated ‘Logan’, directed by James Mangold. Wolverine famously died at the end of the film, and Jackman has stated repeatedly that the film was his swan song in the role. It is not yet known how he will appear in ‘Deadpool 3’, which will be in theatres on September 6, 2024.
Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher recently shed some light on the moment he told his wife Mila Kunis that he loves her, revealing he was very drunk at the time.
According to Fox News, a clip of an upcoming episode of Kutcher’s new marathon training series was released by Peloton, in which he admitted to the episode’s guest, country singer Kenny Chesney, that he played a big role in the milestone moment between him and his wife. Kutcher spoke about the night he told Kunis he loves her for the first time, he had been listening to Chesney’s song, ‘You and Tequila’. He also admitted he “might have had a little too much tequila.”
“I showed up drunk at her house, at like two in the morning, and I just started screaming, ‘You and tequila make me crazy’ and I told her I love her, and she’s like, ‘Don’t say it if you don’t mean it. Are you gonna love me in the morning when you wake up from this hangover?'” Kutcher said. He remembers waking up the next morning feeling the same way about Kunis as he did the night before and confirming his feelings to her, reported Fox News.
Kunis and Kutcher met back in 1998 when they were both cast in ‘That ’70s Show’ as love interests to one another’s characters. Their relationship, however, did not start until nearly 15 years later. When filming began on the show, Kunis was only 15 years old, while Kutcher was already in his 20s.
While the show was filming, Kutcher began dating actress Demi Moore and Kunis got together with actor Macaulay Culkin in 2002. Both their relationships lasted for quite a few years but began to fall apart around the same time in 2011.
As per Fox News, not long after they announced their separation, Kunis and Kutcher were spotted together in 2012 and confirmed to have started a relationship. The couple got married in 2015 and have two children together, a daughter named Wyatt and a son named Dimitri.
Star Indian T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav’s record-smashing spree continued as he overtook veteran opener, Shikhar Dhawan, to become India’s leading run-scorer in the shortest format in a calendar year. He reached this landmark during India’s first T20i of the three-match series against South Africa.
In the match, Suryakumar smashed an unbeaten 50 off 33 balls at a strike rate of 151.52 on a tricky pitch during a chase of 107 runs. His knock consisted of five fours and three sixes.
This knock has taken his run tally in 2022 to 732 runs in 21 innings at an average of 40.66. One century and five half-centuries have come from his bat. His best individual score in the format this year is 117. He has overtaken the tally of Shikhar Dhawan’s 689 runs at an average of 40.52 in 2018.
The left-hander had scored six half-centuries in 18 matches. Both these batters are followed by Virat Kohli (641 runs in 2016), skipper Rohit Sharma (590 in 2018) and Rohit once again (497 runs in 2016 and 2022).
Suryakumar also is the fourth-highest run scorer in T20I cricket in a calendar year, behind Ireland’s Paul Stirling (748 runs in 2019), Pakistan skipper Babar Azam (939 runs in 2021) and number one T20I batter Mohammad Rizwan from Pakistan (1,321 runs in 2021.)
With this victory, India leads the series 1-0. Put to bat first by India, South Africa had a start that even nightmarish would be an understatement. The unreal swing generated by Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh saw the Proteas lose half of their team for just nine runs in less than three overs. However, fighting knocks from Keshav Maharaj (41), Aiden Markram (24) and Wayne Parnell (24) helped Proteas save face and post 106/8 in 20 overs. Chahar (2/24) and Arshdeep (3/32) delivered brilliant four-over spells for India and destroyed South Africa’s top order. Harshal Patel (2/26) and Axar Patel (1/16) also impressed with their spells. Chasing 107, India was off to a slow start, losing Rohit Sharma (0) and Virat Kohli (3) cheap to Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje.
India was 17/2 in their six overs after the conclusion of the powerplay. KL Rahul (51*) and in-form Suryakumar Yadav (50*) took the game ahead, with Rahul anchoring and Suryakumar being the aggressor. Both stitched a match-winning 93-run stand to help India secure an eight-wicket win. Arshdeep Singh won the ‘Man of the Match’ award for his brilliant spell. The second T20I will take place in Guwahati on October 2.
Liquor businessman Mahandru arrested by ED in connection of Delhi excise police money laundering case 6
Liquor businessman Sameer Mahandru, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Delhi excise policy money laundering case, earned Rs 50 crore as “proceeds of crime” in less than a year by violating the provisions of the liquor scheme, the agency told a local court.
Mahandru, the managing director of an alcoholic beverages manufacturing company called Indospirit, was taken into custody by the federal agency around 9 am on Wednesday and the court of special judge M K Nagpal later sent him to the Enforcement Directorate custody till October 6.
He was questioned by the agency overnight at its headquarters in central Delhi, sources said.
The agency claimed before the court that “proceeds of crime” in crores were generated and “major violations” were done by the accused involved in the case. The excise policy 2021-22 has now been scrapped after the Delhi lieutenant governor ordered a probe into its planning and implementation.
“Though the prime object of the said policy was to eliminate the cartelisation between wholesellers and retailers and keeping government control on the highly sensitive liquor trade, but during the course of implementation of policy and due to policy violations, the said objective was intentionally forgotten and it resulted in huge losses to the government exchequer and illegal profits to liquor manufacturers, retailers as well as public servants,” the ED told the court while seeking Mahandru’s remand.
The agency said it was “one of the major objectives of the excise policy that manufactures and retailers have to be different persons and identities, but it has been alleged that the accused (Mahandru) was one of major beneficiaries of these violations as he was not only running a manufacturing unit for alcoholic beverages (Indospirit) but was also given a wholesale licence (L1) and some retail licenses (L7) in the name of his relatives”.
The agency said Indospirit manufactures a wine cooler called ‘Bro Code’ and a Japanese whiskey called ‘Enso’.
“It is thus alleged that the accused (Mahandru) had earned an amount of approximately Rs 50 crore as profits of his above manufacturing unit during a period from 17.11.2021 to 31.08.2022 after deduction of taxes, and this entire amount is claimed to be proceeds of crime generated out of the criminal activities…as it is stated to have been earned because of irregularities and violations of the excise policy,” it said.
The ED told the court that it was seeking Mahandru’s custody “to ascertain the exact volume and extent of the laundered proceeds of crime”.
The agency said it has undertaken as may as 103 search operations in this case and that it wanted to confront Mahandru with “huge digital and physical records” seized during the raids.
The ED said it wants to question the businessman to ascertain the quantum of loss caused to the government exchequer and to identify the complete modus operandi of the offences of this case and to unearth entire proceeds of crime laundered by the accused.
It said it wanted to go to the root of cartelisation and volume of kickbacks alleged to have been paid to the government servants involved in drafting and implementation of the above public policy and the process of laundering of the said amounts.
The ED said it filed a money laundering case to probe these alleged irregularities on August 22 after taking cognisance of an August 17 CBI FIR that has named Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia as the accused no. 1 apart from senior bureaucrats of the Delhi government and others.
Mahandru’s lawyers opposed the ED plea for custodial interrogation saying he has deposed before the agency for questioning six times and has disclosed all information known to him.
His lawyers countered the ED’s charge of non-cooperation during questioning saying “simply because the accused had not replied to the questions put by the investigating officer…in a particular manner, it cannot be said he had not cooperated in the investigation.” While granting the custody to the ED, the court directed the agency to get his medical examination done every day, allow meeting with his lawyers for half-an-hour each day during which he can also talk to his mother and wife apart from allowing his family to give him certain homeopathic medicines.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday detained a senior official of the Maharashtra government’s Directorate of Technical Education, a woman professor and two others for taking bribe to facilitate admission of a student in an architecture college in Thane district, officials said.
The ACB officials also recovered Rs 3,15,000 cash from those detained, which they had collected from 11 students, including the complainant in this case, they said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Thane ACB) Ashwini Patil said in a release that the process of registering an offence against the four at the Mira Road police station under the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar police commissionerate was underway.
Those detained were identified as Jitendra Ramdasji Nikhade (54) Assistant Director of the Technical and Joint Director Divisional Officer at Bandra; Rupali Hitendra Gupte (50), professor at K L Tiwari College of Architecture located at Mira Bhayandar; Santosh Rangrai Hubale, (45), office superintendent of the college and Shreya Santosh Bane (46), senior clerk.
The complainant’s daughter was pursuing a course in an architecture college, which shut down. In order to get admission in K L Tiwari College and also to grant the change of subject, the principal of the college demanded Rs 30,000, the ACB said.
Professor Gupte asked the complainant to hand over the money to the office superintendent and when the complainant met Hubale, he made a demand of Rs 30,000 to be given to the Joint Director of Technical Education, it said. After that, the complainant approached the Thane unit of the ACB. Based on the complaint, the anti-graft agency laid a trap at the college office on Wednesday and caught Bane accepting Rs 15,000 from the complainant on behalf of the superintendent and the professor, it said.
During the inquiry and the raid, it came to light that the accused had similarly demanded Rs 30,000 from 14 students, the ACB said.
Arshdeep Singh’s three-wicket haul followed by Suryakumar Yadav’s 50* and KL Rahul’s unbeaten knock of 51 helped India defeat South Africa by eight wickets in the first match of the three-match T20I series here at Greenfield International Stadium on Wednesday.
For India Suryakumar played a knock of unbeaten 50 while KL Rahul smashed 51 not out. For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje bagged one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 107, India got off to a bad start as they lost their opening batter Rohit Sharma on two ball duck in Kagiso Rabada’s over. Skipper wicket invited right-handed batter Virat Kohli to the crease.
However, the stylish batter could not do much and went back to the pavilion after scoring just three runs in the over of Anrich Nortje.
New batter Suryakumar Yadav hammered Nortje for back-to-back two sixes in the 7th over innings. After 10 over India’s score read 47/2.
Suryakumar along with KL Rahul played a sensible knock while gathering boundaries at regular intervals. India needed six runs in 24 balls, and Suryakumar brought up his half-century in 33 deliveries. With a help of a six on the fourth delivery of the 17th over KL Rahul also brought up his fifty and took his side home with an eight wickets victory over Proteas.
Earlier, Arshdeep Singh’s three and Deepak Chahar’s two-wicket haul followed by Harshal Patel’s late blows helped India restrict South Africa to 106/8. For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj scored the highest 41 runs while Aiden Markram played a knock of 25 runs.
For India Arshdeep Singh bagged three, Deepak Chahar scalped two while Harshal Patel’s late two wickets haul helped India restrict Proteas to a low total.
Opted for field first, India got off to a flying start as Chahar and Arshdeep rocked South Africa’s top order. Chahar got the ball rolling for India with the wicket of the Proteas captain Temba Bavuma in the final ball of the opening over.
In the very next over it did not take long for Arshdeep to send Quinton de Kock and David Miller packing for one and zero runs respectively.
At this point, South Africa was struggling to find a place on the Indian bowler as they were tottering at 8-4. Chahar delivered another blow to the Proteas’ top order as he dismissed Tristan Stubbs, who was caught by Arshdeep Singh. This was the third golden duck in the space of five balls. Wayne Parnell then came out to bat.
Arshdeep took 3 wickets in an over and Chahar struck twice as South Africa was five down in powerplay. Aiden Markram looked in great form but could not do much as he was sent packing by Harshal Patel after scoring 25 runs in 24 balls.
Markram helped South Africa build a bit with 25, his dismissal left Proteas tottering at 42-6 after 10 overs. Keshav Maharaj then tried to form a much-needed partnership with Wayne Parnell. Parnell then tried to play a big shot but handed an easy catch to Suryakumar Yadav on the delivery of Axar Patel. Parnell went back to the pavilion after scoring 24 runs in 37 balls.
In the second last over, Keshav Maharaj smashed 17 runs in the spell of Ashdeep. Maharaj’s fighting 41 kept a small hope alive for South Africa, however, he failed to continue his form in the last over as he was bowled out by Harshal Patel after scoring 41 runs in 35 balls.
In the last over Patel bounded Proteas batters, never letting them score any run and restricted them to a total of 106/8.
Brief score: South Africa 106/8 (Keshav Maharaj 41, Aiden Markram 25; Arshdeep Singh 3-32) vs India 110/2 (KL Rahul 51*, Suryakumar Yadav 50*; Kagiso Rabada 1-16)

The Indian rupee weakened by 37 paise to hit a new all-time closing low of 81.90 against the US dollar on Wednesday as the greenback strengthened against major global currencies.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian rupee slipped below the 82-level for the first time against the US dollar.
The Indian rupee has weakened sharply in recent days largely due to a strengthening of the US dollar.
For the record, the US Federal Reserve had raised the repo rate by 75 basis points — which is the third consecutive hike of the same magnitude, in line with expectations, which essentially means that investors will move towards the US markets for better and stable returns amid the monetary policy tightening.
The Fed also hinted that more rate hikes were coming and that these rates would stay elevated until 2024.
The US central bank seeks to achieve maximum employment and inflation at the rate of 2 per cent over the long run and it anticipates that the ongoing hikes in the target range will be appropriate.
Raising interest rates is a monetary policy instrument that typically helps suppress demand in the economy, thereby helping the inflation rate decline.
There has also been weakness in the equities markets.
The Indian stock market’s key indices, Sensex and Nifty, slumped for the sixth consecutive session on Wednesday dragged by heavy selling pressure in the index heavyweights Reliance Industries, ITC and HDFC Bank.
The 30 stock S&P BSE Sensex slumped 509.24 points or 0.89 per cent to 56,598.28 points against its previous day’s close at 57,107.52 points. The Indian equities witnessed volatile trading amid weakness in the Asian peers.
The Sensex started the day with a deep cut at 56,710.13 points and slumped to a low of 56,485.67 points in the intra-day. The markets witnessed some good buying support in around noon.
The Sensex briefly turned positive touching a high of 57,213.33 points in the intra-day.
