It seems like actor Vikram is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s huge admirer. The actor, who will be seen sharing screen space with Aishwarya in ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, recently spoke about how the actress has stolen many hearts with her beauty and work. “She has stolen everyone’s heart.

Ash has always been symbolic of that picture of perfection we always look up to. I have seen her films, I have watched her. It was not just about beauty, but what she stood for in everything. She is always under a microscope. It’s so difficult being her. She is constantly being watched. She always needs to be perfect, and let me tell you, she has done it in style,” he said at an event in Delhi.

Vikram has earlier worked with Aishwarya in films including ‘Raavanan’ and ‘Raavan’. He added, “I sense in her that confidence, that poise, that grace. Even today when you go to Chennai, or wherever in south India, there will be jewellery stores and saree stores with her picture. Finally, when I got to work with her, I saw the other side where there is a professional. Actually, I am lucky it’s 3 films actually with her.”

Talking about their chemistry in films, the actor said, “It’s so nice working with her. Enjoying that chemistry… All our fans keep saying it’s so nice to see you guys together, but the only thing is, I never get her in the movies.”

Vikram confessed that he was lost after seeing Aishwarya’s dance. The 56-year-old actor said, “When she was doing a shot, I was holding a glass of wine I think. She is dancing and I was watching her, the shot was ready, suddenly I realised I need to do something. I actually, literally the only time I have forgotten myself in a shot. It’s an honest confession.”

In the film, Aishwarya will be seen in dual roles. She will play queen Nandini, the princess of Pazhuvoor, who is on a mission to seek vengeance, as well as Mandakini Devi in the historical drama. On the other hand, Vikram will portray the role of Aditya Karikalan.

England’s UEFA Nations League tie against Germany ends in 3-3 draw

England’s final game at UEFA Nations League before FIFA World Cup in Qatar ended in a heartbreaking 3-3 draw at Wembley Stadium due to an error by goalkeeper Nick Pope late in the game.

England’s first-half performance was an improvement over their efforts against Italy on Friday but still, there was plenty of nervousness. Though there were some good tackles and counter-attacking moves, England’s game still had poor passes, poor touches and snatched finishes. The first half was a goalless affair.

In the second half, things started to look bad for England. An error from Harry Maguire gave Germany a penalty, which Ilkay Gundogan converted into a goal in the 52nd minute of the match. Suddenly, the fourth loss in six games seemed pretty likely for hosts England. In the 67th minute, Kai Havertz produced a beauty from 25 yards to double the advantage for Germany.

England’s confidence was shaken, but yet, they were not completely down and out. A cross from Reece James found Luke Shaw, dropped by Manchester United and he squeezed the ball past keeper Ter Stegen’s legs to open his side’s goal tally in the 71st minute.

In the 75th minute, Mason Mount made things even as a fine play from Bukayo Saka was swept inside the nets. A tackle gave England an opportunity to take the upper hand and Harry Kane surely made it count as he converted a penalty from 12 yards, sending Wembley into a frenzy.

It seemed that momentum was with England, but Havertz levelled the score with an 87th-minute strike to dampen the spirits of English players and hosts.

Southgate’s side has already been relegated to Nations League Group A3 and has failed to win for six games in a row for the first time since 29 years. But this fightback will be a huge positive for England heading into the World Cup, with their campaign set to kick off on November 21.

Jamia Millia Islamia has asked its students and teachers not to assemble in and around the campus as police have imposed restrictions under section 144 of the CrPC in the entire Okhla area.

In a notice issued on Monday, the chief proctor of the university said the SHO of the Jamia Nagar police station has informed that the restrictions have been imposed since September 19 as information was received that some people or groups may indulge in activities prejudicial to the maintenance of peace.

The SHO further said that the restrictions would be in place in the entire Okhla (Jamia Nagar) area till November 17, the notice added.

The police have, however, denied that the order is related to the ongoing action against the Popular Front of India (PFI).

Section 144 of the CrPC prohibits the assembly of four or more people in an area. Violation of the order is punishable under section 188 of the IPC.

In view of the order, all students, and teaching and non-teaching staff of Jamia Millia Islamia are advised not to assemble in and outside the campus in groups or as part of any march, agitation, dharna or meeting, the notice by the chief proctor stated.

The notice came a day after Jamia’s teachers announced a peaceful protest march.

An order was issued by the assistant commissioner of police of New Friends Colony stating that section 144 of the CrPC was imposed in the Jamia Nagar area on September 19.

As per the order, the police have prohibited the carrying of ‘mashal’ or torch, live flames, live fire candles or live fire in any form in processions, rallies or functions in the entire jurisdiction of the sub-division of New Friends Colony.

The order came into force on September 19 and will remain in effect for a period of 60 days up to November 17, unless withdrawn earlier.
