As per reports, the Police had requested the bench for 5 days of custody.

Earlier on Thursday, Karnataka Police arrested Sharanaru for the alleged sexual assault of two minor girls. Earlier in the day, the chief pontiff of Sri Murugha Mutt, Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru was shifted to a district hospital after complaining of chest pain from where he was later taken to the district sessions court.

The Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai said that his government is not liable to answer the allegation of “delayed” arrest of the seer of Sri Murugha Mutt, Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru over the alleged sexual assault of two minor girls and added that the state police have been given full freedom in handling of the case.

During a media interaction, CM Bommai said, “We don’t need to answer any allegations. I have already said that everything will be done according to the law. It’s not appropriate to speak now. We have given a free hand to the police and they’re doing their job.”

“The chief pontiff of Sri Murugha Mutt, Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, accused of sexually assaulting minors, arrested,” said Alok Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, Karnataka. Kumar has earlier said, “The due procedure will be followed. Medical tests and investigations will be done as per the procedure. He will also be produced before the judge.”

An FIR under the POCSO Act has been registered against the pontiff of the influential Muruga Mutt in Chitradurga after minor girls made allegations of sexual harassment against him. The FIR has been filed against Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru of Murugha Mutt in Chitradurga.

According to the FIR, the girls were abused for over two years. Many leaders of the state and across the country have reacted to this matter.

Speaking about it, Lahar Singh Siroya, BJP Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha said, “This is an extremely shocking and sad development. Each time something like this happens it shakes our confidence in our own surroundings, and in our own people. As a society, we owe it to ourselves that these allegations are probed thoroughly and impartially. The Karnataka government and all political parties have to ensure that there are no pulls, pressures, politics and interference in this case. The girls deserve nothing but justice.”

Speaking about the same, Karnataka minister V Somanna on Monday said, “Let the police investigate the case and let the truth come out. It is not appropriate to speak on the case as an investigation is underway,” Somanna said.

Tata Steel Netherland, a wholly-owned foreign subsidiary of Tata Steel Limited, has signed contracts with three companies – McDermott, Danieli, and Hatch – for hydrogen-based steel manufacturing in the Netherlands.

Tata Steel wants to transfer to green steel manufacturing in a clean environment as fast as possible.

All three companies have their own specific expertise that collectively is needed to help Tata Steel shape and deliver the hydrogen-based steel manufacturing, Tata Steel said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Friday.

The cost for this first development step is in excess of 65 million euros and will result in an engineering package that forms the basis for a final permitting and project planning, it said.

The overall project is led by the Tata Steel internal project and sustainability team, in close support of the main delivery partners. McDermott is responsible for the construction input and support of the technical project management.

Daniel is responsible for the engineering design for the plant and technology that delivers the Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), the 1st step in the iron-making process.

Hatch is the technology licensor of the electric furnaces (REF) that melt the DRI and help to reduce the oxygen content further thereby improving the final steel quality.

The REF and DRI plants are closely coupled to form an integrated production system.

“We recently signed agreements about our future with two ministries and the province of North Holland. In doing so, we have committed to being CO2 neutral before 2045 and emit between 35 to 40 per cent less CO2 before 2030. This will primarily be achieved via the hydrogen route where the blast furnaces are replaced with modern clean steel-making technology that uses hydrogen or gas instead of coal,” said Hans van den Berg, CEO of Tata Steel Nederland. “What we do is a complicated and unique operation,” said Annemarie Manger, sustainability director of Tata Steel.

“The new plants will be built on our site while all the current plants will remain in operation until the new installations are up and running. That requires intense integration between facilities and close collaboration between all parties and our people. The coalition that is now formed with McDermott, Daniel and Hatch marks the start of the basic engineering to define our plans more specifically,” Manger said.

The switch to green steel is the biggest change in the company’s more than 100-year history. It is a technological tour de force with many deep consequences. In the past year, a lot of hard work has been done in various areas to prepare for this transition. For example, Tata Steel has signed an agreement with the national grid operator TenneT for a direct connection to the national electricity grid in order to be able to use green energy in its future operations.

The layout of the new facilities and the physical integration inside the existing plant as especially challenging, and has a strong impact on the project execution, the overall operational logistics and the environmental impact.

Barcelona was busy in the beginning of the transfer window trying to boost its squad and making some high-profile signings that included Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.

Ahead of the transfer deadline, though, the focus was mainly on getting rid of players to clear up some extra salary cap room.

Barcelona worked to offload players such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sergi o Dest and Martin Braithwaite on Thursday, allowing for the last-minute arrivals of defenders H ctor Beller n from Arsenal and Marcos Alonso from Chelsea. Dest reached a deal with AC Milan and Braithwaite with Espanyol, while Aubameyang was set to return to England to join Chelsea.

Barcelona had trouble registering its new signings because of the Spanish league’s strict fair play regulations, and could only add new players by releasing others.

It had already let go Samuel Umtiti to Lecce, Nico Gonz lez to Valencia, Neto to Bournemouth, Riqui Puig to the Los Angeles Galaxy and scar Mingueza to Celta Vigo. Others who had been on the verge of leaving but were set to stay included midfielder Frenkie de Jong, defender Jordi Alba and forward Memphis Depay.

The civic-run bus service in Mumbai was partially affected on Friday morning following a sudden agitation by contractual drivers of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST).

Drivers hired by a private company which has provided 100 buses at Shivaji Nagar bus depot staged the protest as they were unwilling to buy tickets for travelling by the buses themselves, said a BEST spokesperson.

The protest started at 5.30 am and the drivers returned to work around 10 am after the company officials assured them that they would be given `Chalo’ bus passes of BEST.

BEST, run by the Mumbai municipal corporation, is the second biggest mode of public transport in the city after suburban local trains. More than 30 lakh passengers travel by its around 3,700 buses. BEST has hired 50 per cent of the fleet from private firms on wet lease.

2008 Malegaon blast and 2019 Gadchiroli blast two different verdicts

malegaon blast, gadchiroli blast,
2008 Malegaon blast and 2019 Gadchiroli blast two different verdicts 11

2nd September 2022, has come up with two different arguments. The defence lawyers in the 2008 Malegaon blast have alleged that the blast near Bhikku Chowk in the bike belonging to Pragya Thakur was accidental. The forensic expert who was examined by the prosecution last month also said during the cross-examination by the defence lawyers that he could not scientifically say that the explosives were kept beneath Pragya Singh Thakur’s bike’s seat. The prosecution last month examined the forensic expert who studied the scene of the offence, bike and other articles from the spot. The defence has alleged that the police planted the articles on the spot.

The witness claimed that during the spot examination, he could not find the centre point of the blast. The defence alleged that since the expert could not find any crater, detonator or wire it is possible that the articles could be planted at the place. The forensic expert further stated that he could not define what type of explosive substance was used in the blast from which nitrite was detected. During the cross-examination of the forensic expert, the defence put up a theory that the blast actually took place at Nissar Dairy and due to its impact, the vehicles — Honda Unicorn bike and LML Freedom — caught fire and burst. The witness declined the theory but admitted that the blast may be artificial or accidental.

Here was another case of Gadchiroli blast, National Investigation Agency (NIA) has claimed that Rona Wilson, an accused in the Elgar Parishad case, met with an accused who is wanted in the deaths of 15 police personnel in the Jamburkheda blast in Gadchiroli. An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast had gone off in May 2019, and Bhupathi (alias Sona/Abhay) who Wilson reportedly met, is one of the main accused but remains absconding. The NIA, which is probing both Elgar Parishad as well as the Gadchiroli blast cases, relied on statements of certain protected witnesses offering proof and significance to make the connection between the two cases. It is, however, unclear what role, if any, was played by Elgar Parishad, accused in the blast case.

Last week, the special NIA court allowed the investigation agency to add statements of two former members of CPI (Maoist), referred to as KW 2 and KW 3 in order to protect their identities, while hearing the Gadchiroli blast matter. KW 2 and KW 3’s statements were originally recorded by the NIA in the Elgar Parishad case and are part of the chargesheets already filed before the court.

The NIA plea contends that the certified copies of the statements of the protected witnesses are being used by the prosecution as additional evidence in the 2019 Gadchiroli blast case. On 1 May 2019, a landmine killed 15 Indian police and their driver in Gadchiroli, state of Maharashtra. Police have blamed the blast on Maoist because they are common in the area. The attack took place after Maoist set 25 vehicles on fire. Alleged Maoist leader Nirmala Uppuganti was also an accused in the blast case, died of a prolonged illness at a hospice centre in April this year, while Rani, who is a co-accused, is currently lodged in Arthur Road Jail. In the bail plea filed through senior counsel Yug Mihit Chaudhry and advocate Payoshi Roy, Rani claimed that there was no evidence against him in the case.Roy informed a bench of Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and VG Bisht that the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is the prosecuting agency in the case, had “no material on record” against Rani.

In the Malegaon 2008 blast forensic officer told the special court (WHEN) that explosive ingredients detected at the blast site were “similar” to the samples seized from the home of an accused. The forensic expert was the 261st witness to depose in the case. His testimony, running into 89 pages, details the forensic analysis done by him during the investigation into the blast at Malegaon.

He told the court during his examination-in-chief by special public prosecutor Avinash Rasal that on November 25, 2008, his office had received a letter from an official of the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) asking him to accompany them to search the home of one of the accused, Sudhakar Chaturvedi. He told the court that he informed his superior and went to the spot where he met ATS officers. After Chaturvedi was unable to produce the key to his house, the ATS officials broke open the lock. The witness said he had conducted a forensic analysis at Chaturvedi’s residence. An ATS officer had also shown him a detonator found in a cupboard. Based on the samples analysed, he had given his opinion that the “explosive ingredients – RDX, ammonium and nitrate radicals – detected at the blast site are similar to that … in samples seized from the accused place”. The witness also mentioned that he had observed that the explosive material was put under the seat of the bike found at the blast site. During cross-examination, however, he told the court that it cannot be said ‘scientifically’. The accused Pragya Thakur Singh was granted bail on her health grounds and she is now BJP leader. Rona Wilson and other accused in Gadchiroli blast are in jail and labeled as urban Naxals.

Three Maharashtra Navnirman Sena workers have been arrested after a video showing them purportedly assaulting a woman in full public view went viral, police said on Friday. The trio had been detained by police a day before over the incident which had taken place on August 28.

The woman had taken objection to local MNS workers installing a pole for mounting an advertisement board in front of her shop in Kamathipura area in central Mumbai which led to a row, police said.

A video showed Vinod Argile, a local office-bearer of the Raj Thackeray-led MNS, and two other party workers slapping, pushing and abusing the middle-aged woman.

After the video circulated on social media, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered under IPC sections 323 (assault), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (act intending to outrage modesty of woman) at Nagpada police station on Thursday.

The accused were arrested late at night, said an official. Meanwhile, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) slammed the MNS over the incident.

“It is a very unfortunate and condemnable incident. Party chief Raj Thackeray should clarify his stand over the incident,” NCP chief spokesperson Mahesh Tapase said in a statement.
