The BMC, in its guidelines for mandals ahead of Ganeshotsav, has drawn up a list of 13 old and dilapidated bridges and advised citizens to exercise caution while using them, especially while taking out processions to bring idols and during immersions.
The advisory comes in the wake of past incidents of portions of bridges crashing like Gokhale bridge in Andheri and Himalaya bridge at CSMT.

Farhan’s ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ co-star Abhay Deol dropped a hilarious comment. He wrote, “Aww I got a little more diabetic reading that but it was all worth it @faroutakhtar! Happy happy birthday @shibanidandekarakhtar sending you guys love.”
Mom-to-be Bipasha Basu also wished Shibani. She wrote, “Happy birthday @shibanidandekarakhtar.” Farhan and Shibani who dated for almost three years tied the knot at Farhan’s family farmhouse in Khandala in the presence of close friends and family members on February 19.

On the work front, Farhan Akhtar is on cloud nine as he made his Hollywood debut with ‘Ms. Marvel’. The show introduced Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, aka the titular character, who is a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a superhero mega-fan with an oversized imagination — particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. ‘Ms Marvel’ received positive feedback from the netizens.
He will be next directing a female-oriented road trip film ‘Jee Le Zara’, which stars Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles.

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has removed the “nine-dash line” from a heatwave map posted on its Facebook page.
The UN organization on Saturday edited its post about the ongoing heatwaves in China and removed the “nine-dash line” while only showing the mainland part of the country. This call was taken after Vietnam had asked WMO to remove the infamous nine-dash line to respect its sovereignty in the East Sea, VnExpress Newspaper reported. At a press meeting on Thursday, Vietnam Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang called for WMO’s attention on the matter and dismissed the “so-called nine-dash line.” “Vietnam has repeatedly dismissed the so-called nine-dash line as well as other maritime statements that go against international laws and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982),” she said. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson said nations and organizations around the world must “remove and edit unsuitable content” that violates Vietnam’s sovereignty. All forms of propaganda and distribution of content and images that violate Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracels) islands, as well as Vietnam’s jurisdiction over the relevent waters, are “invalid,” she was quoted as saying by the Vietnamese newspaper.
The nine-dash line, at various times also referred to as the ten-dash line and the eleven-dash line, has been used by China to illegally claim huge swathes of the South China Sea, known in Vietnam as the East Sea.
The Indian pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy were defeated by the Malaysian duo of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the semifinal of the men’s doubles category in the ongoing BWF World Championships 2022 on Saturday.
Despite the loss, the duo will return to the country with a bronze, becoming the first Indian men’s pair to do so at the Championships. They had to settle for a bronze after their loss in the semi-final.
Playing on court 1, the Indian duo lost the match by 22-20, 18-21, 16-21. The Indian duo was off to a good start. The first game was a closely contested one with fast-paced action. Chirag and Satwik prevailed in the first game by 22-20.
However, the Malaysian opponents made a comeback in the second game and won it by 18-21 to set up an exciting decider game. Though Chirag and Satwik played well, they just could not match the stroke play and speed of their opponents. Chia and Yik kept their composure and had an advantage over the Indians in the final game.
Though Chirag and Satwik kept fighting back one point at a time, any hopes of victory were done away with as their opponents quickly clinched the required final few points to win the game 16-21.
This match lasted for an hour and 17 minutes. It will also be India’s second medal at the Championships from a doubles pair. The duo has given India its 13th medal at the prestigious event.
Earlier on Friday, the duo made history by becoming the first Indian men’s pair to secure a medal in BWF World Championships after defeating Japanese duo of Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi in the quarterfinals.
Playing on court 2, the Indian duo won the match 24-22, 15-21, 21-14. Chirag and Satwiksairaj had stormed into the quarterfinals on Thursday defeating the Denmark duo of J. Bay and L. Molhede in their round of 16 match. It took only 35 minutes for them to eliminate their Danish opposition from the competition within two straight games 21-12, 21-10.
Earlier, in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, Chirag and Satwik had also won a gold medal in the men’s doubles category. They had defeated England’s Ben Lane and Sean Vendy 21-15, 21-13 in the finals.
BWF World Championships 2022 started in Tokyo on August 22 and will go on till August 28.

“India and Argentina reviewed their ongoing cooperation in the strategic sectors of Defence, Nuclear Energy and Space and reiterated their commitment to work together for mutual benefit,” the Joint statement said. Both said agreed to enhance cooperation in the Defence sector within the framework of the MOU on Defence Cooperation signed in 2019.

India is set to kick off their Asia Cup title defence against arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday and revenge will be on the mind of players after suffering a humiliating defeat the last time these Asian giants collided on cricket pitch.
So far, both sides have locked horns on nine occasions in T20I matches. India has an edge overall, with wins in seven matches out of these. Pakistan has won only two. But the last time these two met was during the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, in which India suffered a humiliating ten-wicket defeat.
Left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi destroyed the Indian top order with two quick strikes. Contributions from then-skipper Virat Kohli (57) and Rishabh Pant (39) took India to 151/7 in their 20 overs, but knocks from Mohammed Rizwan (79*) and Pakistani skipper Babar Azam (68*) meant that Men in Blue succumbed to a shocking defeat.
India will be looking forward to putting up a big fight this time around. They have been in fantastic form as of late, having defeated England and West Indies in their respective territories in ODI and T20I series.
They are also the number one side in T20Is. For this, it will be extremely vital for skipper Rohit Sharma, star batters Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to be at peak of their powers and showcase the brutality with their willow that has earned them millions of fans.
All eyes will be on Rohit and Virat to regain their best form and play a match-winning knock. India’s middle order has been seeing a rise of new stars. Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda are two exciting strikers who can attack from ball one. These two hitters have their chance to etch their names in history in this match against their arch-rivals.
Experienced middle-order batters/all-rounders like Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant will also be looking forward to carrying on the fine form they are in. Indian bowling attack has a lot of depth. In absence of lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah, all eyes will be on Bhuvneshwar Kumar to lead the attack.
He has been superb for India in T20Is this year, especially during powerplays, a phase in which India will look up to him for early strikes.
Youngsters Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan will have their chance to make an impact as well. In the spin department, veterans Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will be leading the attack. They along with Yuzvnedra Chahal and youngster Ravi Bishnoi will have to complement the pace attack well and bamboozle Pakistanis with their deliveries.
Coming to Pakistan, they are the third-ranked side in ICC T20I rankings and are not to be taken lightly. Their top order has two in-form batters in Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan.
These two are Pakistan’s best as far as T20Is are concerned but the side has to make sure that they are not reliable just on them and collapse if these two underwhelm with the bat.
Other batters/all-rounders like Fakhar Zaman, Asif Ali, Haider Ali etc will have to contribute with the bat with the same energy and efficiency as their top batters if they are to pose a big challenge to the Men in Blue.
In absence of left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi, Pakistani pace attack has taken a big dent. Yet another pacer Mohammed Wasim was also ruled out due to injury on Friday.
Injuries have put pressure on young pacers like Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf. Veteran Hasan Ali is also back in the mix.
Mohammed Hasnain has also been brought to the squad as a replacement for Shaheen. Pakistan, reputed over the years of producing some of the finest bowlers ever, has its chance to give a proof of its pace greatness here in absence of its leader.
Spinners Usman Qadir will also have to deliver something really brilliant to trap the world-class Indian batting lineup. Irrespective of what the result is, fans are guaranteed a high-voltage cricket clash between these two Asian giants and they will surely be glued to their TV sets.
Indian and Pakistan flags and jersey colours all over the stadium will decorate the stands and the sounds of national anthems, Bollywood songs, fans chanting will ring through Dubai and will create an environment fitting for a clash as big as this one.
