The Madhya Pradesh police have registered an FIR against three journalists claiming that they ran false and misleading news of an incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district.

Police registered a case against local journalists Kunjbihari Kaurav, Anil Sharma and NK Bhatele at Daboh police station after a complaint by Dr Rajeev Kaurav, Medical Officer of Daboh Community Health Centre.

It was alleged that on August 15, the journalists shared a false video of 76-year-old Gya Prasad Vishwakarma from a village in Bhind district who was being taken to the hospital on a handcart.

The news shared by the journalists claimed that even after calling 108, the ambulance did not reach the spot, after which the family members were forced to take the patient on a handcart to the hospital 5 km away.

The report also claimed that the victim is not the beneficiary of government schemes. After the video went viral, the District Magistrate of Bhind, Satish Kumar conducted an inquiry and said that this news was false, as no call was made for the ambulance.

“The son, who owns a cart, would often take his father for medical visits on his cart. He didn’t call 108 for an ambulance. The family is availing of all government benefits including PM Awas Yojna, pension schemes and BPL cards. The news spread by the journalists regarding this matter is false and misleading and following this, an FIR has been registered in Daboh police station,” said the DM.

“An FIR against the three journalists under sections 420, 505 (2) of the IPC and section 66 (F) 1 of the IT Act,” the police informed.

However, the victim alleged that the administrative officers got his signatures on a blank paper.

“They (the officers) threatened me that if I speak anything to the media, they will stop the government’s plans I am getting,” the victim alleged.

Indian stocks decline for second straight session

Indian stocks decline for second straight session 3

Indian stocks seemed to have lost some steam as they declined for the second consecutive session on Monday primarily due to mild profit booking. The latest slump in stocks comes after a five-week long consistent rally in the benchmark indices – Sensex and Nifty.

At 9.26 a.m., Sensex traded at 59,230.99 points, down 415.16 points or 0.70 per cent, whereas Nifty traded at 17,632.80 points, down 125.65 points or 0.71 per cent.

Among the Nifty 50 stocks, 43 of them declined this morning, while the remaining 7 managed to trade in the green, National Stock Exchange data showed.

“Investors have to exercise caution. Medium to long-term investors can buy highquality banks on declines. Capital goods and autos are on a strong wicket,” said V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services.

Major Asian shares too declined on Monday amid concerns over global growth as most major banks keep raising lending rates, said Deepak Jasani, Head of Retail Research at HDFC securities.

YouTube service faced disruptions on multiple internet providers in Pakistan on Sunday during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s speech in Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh, an internet watchdog reported.

The disruption comes as the former PM made a broadcast to the public, a day after his live speeches were banned by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).

“Confirmed: Metrics corroborate reports of a disruption to YouTube in Pakistan on multiple internet providers; the incident comes as former PM Imran Khan live streams on the platform despite a ban by media regulator PEMRA,” NetBlocks tweeted.

Real-time network data showed the disruption in effect on some but not all mobile and fixed-line internet providers in Pakistan during the live-streamed speech, the watchdog said.

Tensions continue to rise in Pakistan following the booking of the PTI chief under the anti-terror law.

On Sunday, Imran Khan was booked under an anti-terror law for allegedly threatening the additional sessions judge of the federal capital, thereby, escalating the rift between the country’s coalition government and supporters of the former Prime Minister.

Amid the looming threat of arrest on the former Pakistan PM, PTI has drawn their “red line”, warning about severe consequences if the government attempts to arrest Imran Khan.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal will embark on a two-day visit to poll-bound Gujarat from today.

Kejriwal will be accompanied by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is facing a CBI probe in connection with the AAP government’s previous excise policy.

The duo will reach Ahmedabad on Monday and address a town hall meeting in Himmatnagar. They will also attend a town hall meeting in Bhavnagar on Tuesday.

“On Monday, Manish ji and I will go to Gujarat for two days to guarantee education and health. Like Delhi, Gujarat will also have good schools, good hospitals and Mohalla clinics. Everyone will get a free good education and good treatment.

People will be relieved, we will also interact with youth,” Kejriwal said in a tweet. The statement from Kejriwal came a day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) searched Sisodia’s home and carried out raids at several places in connection with the alleged corruption in the implementation of Delhi’s Excise Policy.

During an earlier visit to north Gujarat, Kejriwal made a bunch of promises to the people of Gujarat ranging from providing free electricity supply to improving the healthcare services in the state.

China opposes new US law on semiconductors, says it will undermine global supply chains

China opposed the new US chip law that aims to support the local producers of semiconductors. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin on Wednesday said that the new Chips and Science Act adopted by the US will disrupt global supply chains and hamper international trade, reported media.

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden signed into law the USD 52.7 billion Act to support US semiconductor producers and strengthen their positions in competition with China.

“The United States stated that the act aims to increase the competitiveness of US technologies and the semiconductor production, however, this act provides huge subsidies to US enterprises producing chips and introduces a differentiated policy of industry support, some provisions of which, among other things, restrict the normal investment and trade and economic activities of relevant Chinese enterprises, as well as normal scientific and technical cooperation between China and the US,” Wang said at a briefing.

The Chinese foreign ministry expects all these to “disrupt global supply chains and hinder international trade,” Wang said, adding that “China is strongly opposed to this,” reported Sputnik.

The United States is free to choose its own development methods, but those should not harm China’s development and must respect World Trade Organization rules and principles of transparency and non-discrimination, as well as safeguard global production and supply chains, Wang said.

Amid heightened cross-strait tensions between China and Taiwan, there is a shortage of semiconductor chips shortage across the world.

Moreover, after the United States invited South Korea to join its semiconductor alliance “Chip 4” to build a cooperative platform for the semiconductor supply chain, China’s worries are set to bloom as the main goal of the communist nation to reduce its dependence on other countries for chips is likely to get hampered while US-China tensions rise.

This move comes as a shock to China which has dreamt of becoming a leader in semiconductor production by 2030 and is working overtime to enhance its capabilities and production to leave the US behind, a US-based publication reported. The US-led Chip 4 alliance includes South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

The Chip 4 alliance has left China worried as the move tends to curb Beijing’s growing capabilities as a chip maker. According to the latest news reports, China is moving toward achieving more self-sufficiency in semiconductors which could eventually make some buyers reliant on China for many of the basic chips now in short supply.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against eight accused – all private persons – in connection with the CBI case against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and others for alleged irregularities in the excise policy.

A senior CBI official confirmed that there was a total of nine private persons have been named in the FIR. Except for Manoj Rai, ex-vice president of Pernod Ricard, LOC has been issued against all private persons.

The accused who have been put on the list of LOC include Vijay Nair, former CEO of Only Much Louder, an entertainment and event management company, Amandeep Dhal, owner of Brindco Spirits, Sameer Mahendru, owner of Indospirit, Amit Arora, director of Buddy Retail Pvt.

Limited, Dinesh Arora of Radha Industries, Sunny Marwah of Mahadev Liquors, a proprietorship firm, Arjun Ramchandra Pillai and Arjun Pandey. Earlier, in the day Manish Sisodia took a jibe over reports of Look Out Circular (LOC) against him and other accused in the excise policy case, but sources in CBI have clarified that it might be issued soon and that the procedure to do so was underway.

CBI sources later clarified that look out circular is “in process, not issued yet”.

It was a procedural matter that takes the due process to be followed before issuing it against any person.

According to sources, during searches conducted at the premises of the accused persons on August 19, two accused were not found at their location and they remained untraceable.

Although, summoned have been issued to them to join the investigation into the matter.

Earlier in the day after reports of LOC against him, he tweeted an old video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which the PM (as Gujarat chief minister) was hitting out at the then Central government and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

He also tweeted that CBI has found nothing during the search at his house.

In LOC, the concerned agencies inform the Bureau of Immigration (BoI) regarding an individual who might leave the country without informing law enforcement agencies.

BoI update the list of LOC to its officers at immigration checkpoints at international airports and seaports.

There are certain categories of LOC like where a person is completely banned to go outside the country and in a certain category he can go but have to take permission and inform the concerned law enforcement agency.

IND vs ZIM: Men in Blue eye clean sweep, hosts aim for consolation win

Cricket,Zimbabwe,India

When India takes to the field during the third and final ODI against Zimbabwe in Harare, a clean sweep will be on their minds, while for Zimbabwe the focus will be on presenting a good challenge to the visitors and walking away with a consolation victory.

The final ODI between both sides will be played in Harare on Monday. India has an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series after winning the first two matches by ten and five wickets respectively.

For India, eyes will be once again on the opening duo of Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul.

Shikhar has displayed solid form in ODIs this year and one more solid knock is all he needs to stay in contention for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 contention before another opportunity knocks on his doors again. On the other hand, KL will be aiming to get among runs as he gears up for Asia Cup 2022.

Ending another tour on high will be in the mind of Shubman Gill.

Ever since getting a chance to play on a tour of the West Indies, Gill has not disappointed with the bat. Another good inning will seal his position as a trustworthy backup opener or even a regular opener for Team India.

Rahul Tripathi and all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed will also be hoping to get their maiden Indian caps and make the most of it after delivering good performances in IPL.

India’s bowling has been brilliant on this tour with nothing to complain about Spinner Axar Patel sits at the top of the bowling charts with four wickets.

It will be another opportunity for him to prove his worth. Pacers like Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur will also be eyeing one more good performance to end the tour on a high.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe has a lot of mess that they would be looking forward to solving. Their batting has been subpar in both matches. The side could not even cross the 200-run mark.

Openers Innocent Kaia and Takudzwanashe Kaitano will have to deliver a positive and steady start to set the foundation for a better total. Sikandar Raza, Ryan Burl and captain Regis Chakabva will also have to lend support to openers as batters.

While Zimbabwe bowlers were humiliated in the first ODI, they offered a better fight in the second ODI, reducing India to 4/97 in chase of 162.

Zimbabwe will have to continue with this mindset and hit their lengths well if they are hoping for a win. It would take a lot to bundle out a world-class Indian batting lineup.

Tanaka Chivanga, Victor Nyauchi and Luke Jongwe will have to bowl really well if they want to tame Team India.

India squad: KL Rahul (captain) Shikhar Dhawan (vice-captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohd Siraj, Deepak Chahar.

Zimbabwe squad: Regis Chakabva (c), Tanaka Chivanga, Bradley Evans, Luke Jongwe, Ryan Burl, Innocent Kaia, Kaitano Takudzwanashe, Clive Madande, Wesley Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, John Masara, Tony Munyonga, Richard Ngarava, Victor Nyauchi, Sikandar Raza, Milton Shumba and Donald Tiripano.
