Ahead of the floor test in the Bihar Assembly that is slated to be held on August 24, newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party for speaking ‘jumla jhoot’ (propagating lies) and not working at the grassroots level for the development of the country.

“I am glad to know that since the time, the Mahagathbandhan decided to come together, we have begun talking about employment, about the future of the youth. On the contrary, when BJP was in power, only Hindu-Muslim and Mandir-Masjid were the issues discussed. Poison was being sown in society,” Tejashwi Yadav told agencies.

Tejashwi Yadav asserted that he will fulfil the aspirations of the youth soon and lashed out at the BJP for making bogus claims on unemployment issues. “Now, our focus is to fulfil the aspirations of the youth. Just wait for a few more days. You will soon know about how work for the people’s welfare happens while being in power.

On the contrary, I challenge the claims made by BJP about providing employment. Forget providing 19 lakh jobs to the people of Bihar, they (BJP) have not even provided 19 jobs.

In the country, they promised to provide over 2 crore jobs to the people.

They have not even provided close to 80 lakh jobs till now,” Yadav told to agencies. Yadav added, “Till 2022, the Centre promised to make India a Rs 5 trillion economy and launch bullet trains. What is the reality of such claims? The Centre was going to provide a special package to the people of Bihar. Where is that? The Centre says ‘jumla jhoot’. The ‘sleeping media’ will wake up.” “Because of the support of Nitish Kumar Ji, issues like unemployment are being raised. We are talking about real issues. We will surely fulfil the aspirations of the youth of the country,” he added.

Former CJI Ranjan Gogoi create scholarship funds for law students from his Rajya Sabha salary

Former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, who is still a sitting member of the Rajya Sabha, has decided to support the education of students studying law by donating his entire salary earned as a parliamentarian.

The money can be taken by any student pursuing a five-year-long law degree either from Assam or any other state across the country.

Ranjan Gogoi was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in March 2020 and has not taken a single penny out of the salary and the allowances that ought to be paid by Rajya Sabha to him.

The scholarship fund has been created with this money and allowances that Gogoi hasn’t taken so far. Giving details, the former CJI told to agencies, “This money should be of good use to students, especially those studying law. I am sure that the allowances and salary that are due to be paid to me for the last two years will be good enough to fund the education of at least 10 to 15 students.” Ranjan Gogoi worked as a lawyer in the Gauhati High Court in Assam and back then offered free legal services.

He plans to advertise the scholarship through newspaper advertisements so that students can apply. The scholarship will be valid starting next month and it will cover not just tuition fees but also host and staying charges for the students.

Gogoi further told to agencies, “those students who are interested can e-mail their applications to the email id provided by the concerned authorities by the end of this month.”

“Students further need to give details including their names, contact numbers, email addresses, physical address, name of the institution where they have enrolled as a student, details of the course scores that have been octane by them in the board exams along with a copy of the mark sheet along with family income proofs for the last three years along with an application not exceeded 200 words,” Gogoi told to agencies.

In March 2020, Opposition members walked out of the House and boycotted the swearing-in amidst cries of a deal between the former CJI and the Narendra Modi government.

It was an unfazed Gogoi who remarked soon after his oath-taking that his parliamentarian colleagues “will welcome me very soon”. The nomination came barely four months after his retirement in November 2019.

To mark the 75th Independence Day and to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, over 8,560 people including dignitaries and students will form the world’s largest human formation of a waving national flag, creating a new Guinness World Record in Chandigarh on Saturday

The event will be held amid loud chants and cheers from the gathering at the cricket stadium in Chandigarh on Saturday.

Organised by the NID Foundation and Chandigarh University, the event will be attended by Administrator, Chandigarh UT, Banwarilal Purohit, Union Minister of State for External Affairs, and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi, NID Chief Patron and Chandigarh University Chancellor S Satnam Singh Sandhu and other top officials of the UT administration.

“More than 8,560 students from Chandigarh University and other educational institutions of the UT, along with the volunteers of the NID Foundation are going to attempt the World Record by creating the ‘World’s Largest Human Image of a Waving National Flag’ to strengthen ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement with a vision to ignite the spirit of patriotism and nationalism among all of us as a citizen of India,” said the NID.

More than 25,000 people including youth, kids and elderly, alike are expected to be present on the occasion.

Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of India’s people, culture and achievements.

The programme envisages inspiring Indians everywhere to hoist the national flag at their homes. The aim of the programme is to make the relationship with the national flag a more personal one rather than just keeping it formal or institutional.

The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and promote awareness about the tricolour. Earlier, Indian citizens were not allowed to hoist the National Flag except on selected occasions.

This changed after a decade-long legal battle by industrialist Naveen Jindal culminated in the landmark SC judgement of January 23, 2004 that declared that the right to fly the National Flag freely with respect and dignity is a fundamental right of an Indian citizen within the meaning of Article 19(1) (a) of the Constitution of India. Lauding the Centre and the Prime

Minister for the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, Naveen Jindal has appealed to every Indian to make ‘Har Din Tiranga’ their motto.

Ahead of the floor test in the Bihar Assembly that is slated to be held on August 24, newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday said that issues like employment and those related to youth’s future will be addressed if they remain in power.

“Since we have formed the government, issues like employment and those related to youth’s future are being addressed. Issues like Hindu-Muslims and Mandir-Masjid were only discussed when BJP was in power. Hatred was sown in the society then,” Tejashwi Yadav told the agencies.

Earlier today Yadav called the recent tie-up of Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) “a natural alliance and not a deal”, and claimed that within a month Bihar will be the largest government jobs-providing state.

Speaking to the reporters in the national capital where he reached on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan to meet his father and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi said, “It’s a natural alliance, not a deal. This is the real ‘Mahagathbandhan’ which was formed by Lalu Yadav Ji and Nitish Kumar. We welcomed Nitish Kumar’s decision and came together.”

Talking about the timeline of the fulfilment of his promises of providing jobs to the youth of the state, the Deputy CM said that it will only be done after the trust vote in the Assembly.

“We do not do BJP-style politics that we will threaten and buy the leaders. We will provide jobs, let the trust vote be over. We are very serious about this issue. Within one month, you will see that Bihar will be the single-largest job-giving state in government jobs,” he said.

Meanwhile, with the change in government in Bihar, a session of the state assembly has been convened for August 24.

Legislators of the ruling Mahagathbandhan have given a notice for the removal of Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha. Sinha, who is a BJP MLA, on Thursday refused to comment on the no-confidence notice submitted against him.

“As long as I am on this post, I will give no statement to the media on this (political development),” Sinha told reporters. The motion against Sinha is likely to be taken up by the House when it meets to enable the Nitish Kumar government to prove its majority.

Nitish Kumar-led government will go for a floor test on August 24. Kumar had earlier said that the government has the support of seven parties and 164 MLAs.

Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar chief minister on Wednesday for a record eighth time after he severed ties with BJP a day earlier and resigned as chief minister. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav took oath as Deputy Chief Minister.
