P-K-JainFormer IPS officer P K Jain joins RPI after he was denied a ticket by BJP.

Jain too was likely to join BJP like Satyapal Singh and was planning to contest election from his hometown Sangrur in Punjab. However when BJP refused to issue a ticket to Jain he joined the RamdasAthwale led RPI. Yesterday, Jain joined RPI under the presence of RPI Chief RamdasAthwale. Jain was made vice-president of the party after joining. He is willing to work for the welfare of the common man and for the development of his constituency.

The constituency from where PK Jain is going to contest election is yet to be decided. However, according to sources from RPI Jain is likely to fight election from Sangli.

After joining the party PK Jain said, “As of now I don’t want to comment too much about this matter.I am pleased to join RPI. Kapil Patil joins BJP, likely to get party candidature from Bhiwandi

Kapil-Patil-bjpA prominent Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader from the adjoining Thane district joined the BJP, which announced on Tuesday, that some more leaders of the Sharad Pawar-led party would join it shortly.

Kapil Patil, who was the NCP Thane rural district unit president, was welcomed into the BJP here by its senior leader Gopinath Munde and Maharashtra unit president Devendra Fadnavis.

Patil told r that he left NCP since he felt that only an able leader like Narendra Modi could ensure development of his Bhiwandi Lok Sabha constituency.

Patil is likely to be the BJP candidate from Bhiwandi and a formal decision is expected on Wednesday.

Answering a query about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s warning to Medical Education Minister Vijaykumar Gavit, whose daughter, Heena Gavit, is likely to join the BJP, Munde said, “Joining any party and practising an ideology is a right given to people by the Constitution.”

“There is no point exerting pressure on a father to prevent his daughter from joining any other party,” Munde said.

“Even nephews don’t listen to uncles, as can be seen from mine and Balasaheb’s (Thackeray) case,” Munde said, in an apparent reference to his nephew Dhananjay joining the NCP and the late Thackeray’s nephew Raj leaving the Shiv Sena and forming the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

“Mind you, the same thing is going to happen in Sharad Pawar’s case,” Munde said, implying that all may not be well between Ajit Pawar and his uncle, in future.

Four arrested for forcing newly married to end life over dowry

dowryThe Thane police arrested four members of a family on Tuesday including a couple on charges of allegedly harassing a young married women and forcing her to end her life under duress for more dowry, the police said.

Police station inspector PT Kale of the Kalwa police station told that the victim’s family and those arrested lived in the Atkondeshwar Nagar of Kalwa.

The victim Rinki Rajesh Gupta (23) was married to one Rajesh Gupta (27) on June 07, 2011.

Within a couple of months after the marriage her in-laws began haressing the girl demanding more dowry, which she could not not fulfill.

They also wanted a sum of Rs 5 lakh from Rinki to fund Rajesh’s foreign visit, according to a complaint by the victim’s brother Ashok Gupta, who is a Navi Mumbai resident.

The torture increased day by day and on Saturday she doused herself in kerosene and set herself on fire after which she was badly burnt, the police said.

She was rushed to the Thane civil hospital for treatment where she died today, the police said, adding that her in-laws were arrested by the Kalwa police.

The names of those arrested are Rajesh Gupta (27), his mother Gayatri Devi Gupta (45), his father Ramchandra Gupta (50) and his brother Brijesh Gupta (23), who have been charged under Section 498-A and Section 306 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code, the police said.

Mumbai building collapse: HC asks police not to arrest advocate

Bombay-HCObserving that advocate Sindha Shreedharan, charged with culpable homicide following collapse of a building in Mumbai killing seven persons, cannot be held solely responsible, Bombay High Court directed police not to take coercive steps against her or any BMC official.

A division bench of Justices Anoop Mohta and M S Sonak was hearing a bunch of petitions filed by Shreedharan challenging the eviction notice issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in April 2008 asking all the tenants to vacate the seven-storey building in suburban Vakola as it was dilapidated.

While all tenants were evicted, Shreedharan’s family refused to vacate their ground floor premises due to dispute with the landlords.

On March 14, the building collapsed killing seven persons, including Shreedharan’s sister, and injuring four others. Police on Monday registered a case of culpable homicide against Shreedharan and unnamed BMC officials for failing to take steps for eviction and building’s demolition.

“The BMC has also not taken any steps towards eviction or demolition of the building. How can the BMC put burden on the petitioner alone as being responsible for the collapse? If the building was in a dilapidated condition since 2008, what steps has the corporation taken? Can only the petitioner be blamed?” Justice Mohta said.

The court was informed that Shreedharan had in March 2010 obtained a stay on the eviction notice from the High Court. The corporation had moved the court in 2013 challenging the stay order. “So your (BMC) basic cause of action is that nothing could be done because of the stay order. How can that be the basis of the petitioner’s arrest?” the court said.

Stating that the matter will have to be heard in detail before passing any order, the court directed the police to not take any coercive steps like arrest against the petitioner or any BMC official. The court directed all the parties involved to file their affidavits and supporting documents and posted the petition for hearing on 15 April.

Shreedharan alleged that she was being targeted by land sharks, Shiv Sena politicians and the BMC officials. “I cannot be held liable for the collapse. If I am arrested today I will be killed in custody. Shiv Sena politicians are instigating the locals against me,” she alleged.

No one wants to contest on Congress ticket: Shiv Sena

The Shiv Sena on Tuesday mocked the Congress party, saying no one wants to contest the Lok Sabha polls on a Congress ticket.

In an editorial in its mouthpiece Saamna, the Shiv Sena said there is an anti-Congress wave in the country.

“(Congress vice-president) Rahul Gandhi is trying to fill air in a balloon which already has holes in it,” the editorial said.

“It’s hilarious that a party (Congress) which can’t find candidates is claiming to win more than 200 seats,” the piece added.

It may be noted that Rahul had recently rejected opinion polls which claimed that the BJP will win more than 200 seats, while the Congress’ tally could get reduced to less than 100.

He had expressed confidence that the Congress would win more than 200 seats.

Also, of late many senior Congress leader have expressed their desire not to contest the 2014 General Elections.

HC reserves order on petition of MHADA workers urging pension

The Bombay High Court reserved order on a petition filed by employees of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) seeking pension on superannuation but the state said it will not sanction such a benefit.

The order was reserved by a bench headed by Justice V M Kanade which indicated that it might give a judgement on Wednesday.

The employees pleaded that MHADA had already passed a resolution deciding to grant pensionary benefits to the workers who had joined after November 1, 2005. However, the state had not granted approval to this proposal of MHADA.

The employees also demanded pension on the ground that the state had adopted Civil Service Rules which provides for payment of monthly pension on superannuation.

Advocate General Darius Khambata today argued it is not a legal right of the employees to get pension. Such an issue cannot be claimed as a matter of right. Whether to give pension or not is a matter of policy decision for the state.

Moreover, if the state decided to give pension to MHADA employees, then it may have to give such benefit to the employees of other state government organisations or state corporations. In that case, the financial burden on the state exchequer would rise, the Advocate General said.

A similar petition had been filed before the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court wherein the state had informed that the Chief Minister had rejected such a proposal (of MHADA deciding not to grant pension to workers). Thereafter, the HC asked the state cabinet to decide the issue which too turned down the proposal.

The bench of Justice Kanade today observed “merely adopting a rule is not sufficient to grant pension. The state has to approve this.”

The bench also said the state had not come out with a separate rule of granting pension to employees. “Show us the legal provision which allows payment of pension to MHADA workers,” the judges said.

NCP office bearer shot at in Badlapur

The Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) Badlapur unit vice president Yogesh Raut was seriously wounded after he was shot at Gandhi Chowk in eastern Badlapur, the police said on Tuesday.

According to the police, four people shot him at point blank range injuring him in his chest, the police said, adding that the badly injured Raut was rushed to the AMS Hospital at Dombivili where he is being treated.

The police said that Raut’s alleged hitmen include Sachin Pawar, Jagdish Kudekar, Ashish Kajale and Sameer Patil, though the exact motive behind the murder attempt could not be ascertained immediately.

Meanwhile, tension prevails in the town, even as a manhunt is on for Raut’s attackers, the police said.

Raut is said to be close Murbad MLA and an influential leader from Ambernath called Kisan Kathore.

The police has registered offences against Raut’s absconding attackers under the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act even as investigations are on, the police said.

No arrest had been made in connection with the incident, the police said.

Woman allegedly killed by drunk husband

A 62-year-old woman was clubbed to death allegedly by her alcoholic husband in Thane after she delayed preparing lunch for him on the occasion of Holi, police said.

The incident took place in Jawahar on Monday when victim Gangubai was attacked and brutally killed by Balu Padu Kambdi (64) in the afternoon, they said.

Kambdi was under the influence of liquor and had bought mutton for lunch preparation, said PSI R R Patil of the Jawhar police station.

Heavily drunk, Balu kept badgering his wife to speed up the preparation, police said.

Around 1 PM in the afternoon, he attacked the woman with a sharp and heavy object following which she collapsed and died on the spot.

The Jawahar police charged the accused under section 302 of the IPC and arrested him later in the day.

22 farmer suicides in three weeks

Nearly two dozen farmers have committed suicide in Maharashtra in the past three weeks due to massive loss of crops, a report has claimed.

The Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti, a farmers’ advocacy group, claims that 22 farmers have ended their lives in three weeks, mostly in the Vidarbha and Marathawada regions. Nine of these deaths took place in just the past three days, after a prolonged and unusual hailstorm destroyed acres of crops, the group says.

The Maharashtra government has not confirmed these grim statistics.

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has asked for Rs. 5,000 crore from the Centre but farmers say they don’t expect quick relief; the process involves a report from the state government, followed by a spot assessment by a central team, before any money is sanctioned.

Sources say even this amount may not be enough to compensate for the loss of crop spread over at least 16 lakh hectares.

Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region is often described as ‘suicide country’ with reports of a farmer suicide every eight hours even till two years ago.

Ahead of next month’s general election, the tragic deaths have fueled a political blame-game. The opposition Shiv Sena has alleged that the Congress and NCP, which co-govern Maharashtra and are allies at the Centre, are using the election code of conduct as an excuse for inaction.

“I blame the system. Farmers have no godfathers. Should we talk of rules when people are dying?” said the Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut.

The poll code of conduct bans any political party from making announcements that may influence the voter.

Senior NCP leader and union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said, “I appeal to people that we will find a solution in spite of the Model Code of Conduct. We cannot resolve this in a day. There will be delays. But we will resolve it by talking to other parties.”

Rahul promotes dynasty politics, Modi proved himself in politics

This time voting would be cast between rural and urban population, between traditional voters and educated voters, between Hindu and secular voters. Rahul Gandhi cannot be future Prime Minister of this country because Congress has always sidelined important, popular and fair leaders who have public following. People really respect some of the senior Congress leaders irrespective of party liking and disliking, whereas they find Modi as an alternative, now. Those who really dislike BJP are now willing to vote for the party, just because of Modi. BJP is zero without Modi and Congress is zero without Gandhi family. They follow because of their loyalties towards family. Probably, Congress is commiting the biggest mistake by promoting Rahul Gandhi as its prime ministerial candidate.

Rahul Gandhi is in learning stage and he has to learn many things about politics from his Gurus, Sonia Gandhi (she walked the political path with Indira and Rajiv Gandhi) and Manmohan Singh as he claimed that he has two gurus in politics. He is saying that the most important quality in a politician is intent. If the intent is not correct then nothing can be achieved, but unfortunately none of the Congress ministers including Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi have a clear intention towards this country. Whenever Rahul reaches for speeches in different states, he changes his Gurus. Sometimes he claims to follow Mahatma Gandhi and sometime he says he follows his mother and Manmohan Singh. He was in Punjab and recently he insulted Prime Minister over the ordinance aimed to protect the interests of convicted MPs and MLAs, may be this is the reason he tried making it up by parsing MMS. Mother is every child’s teacher, Sonia can be his teacher by birth but as such in Indian politics, there is nothing much that Sonia has contributed to set an example. Rahul need to grow, he has just began to approach people by addressing masses without reading his script. Just being an angry man or using harsh terms, he cannot be proved as aggressive Prime Ministerial Candidate. He and his family members are being followed by secular Hindus.

The basic variance between Modi and Rahul

Modi speaks extempore and always talks about national issues addressing the growth of his state. Most of the time, he attacks Congress for its political errors. He informs the masses keeping them ahead. Nowadays, Rahul tries to talk without paper but somewhere lacks the vocabulary to make his voice reach out to people, though Congress has a solid vote bank. Modi could win by the strong Hindu votes; Hindu can’t be vote bank but definitely are in majority. There are many published poll surveys, but these surveys do not sound relevant as Indian election process is indirect. Main stream media, talk about Modi as a leading candidature of Prime ministerial job but getting this prediction for granted would be foolishness. As, we all know, BJP might be a single largest party but without alliance it cannot form government at the centre and many alliance parties already sidelined themselves over Modi elevation. He might be the best choice but, BJP doesn’t have strong foothold. BJP has its grip over restricted states like Gujarat, MP, Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Bihar. It has no faithful collaborator other than Shiv Sena in Maharashtra and Akali Dal in Punjab. The fact is that, it would not be very difficult to predict Modi nor Gandhi has India’s approval. Both are projected big by their keyboard samurais on social network. Moreover, there is no comparison between Modi and Gandhi. One is a seasoned politician who has seen decades here and another one is born into a political family and just took his baby steps here. Choice between these two is not much complex or even easy for common people.

Rahul was connected with Congress as he has been a part of UPA-I & II. Till today in last ten years, he failed to bring changes in the party. How he will create magic now? How can an intelligent Indian trust Congress or Rahul who in spite of being in power did only fake promises. They separated states, look at burning Andhra Pradesh. They divided society in the name of minority appeasement, recently he addressed Dalits. Every time they divide people over caste, creed, religion and state. Rahul or his Guru ‘Maiyya’ have not given any remarkable contribution towards this country. They passed many bills, but when times come for execution then files landed in disaster. Aadhar card is one of the greatest examples. Crores of rupees were wasted on these projects. Name any one party which has done extraordinary for this country on national and state level? The 2014 General Election is very vital for the nation.

Recently, Rahul spoke about Food Security Bill, Right to Education and Right to Information Act. But, whenever the RTI was filed against Sonia Gandhi and Robert Vadra, same Congress refused to co-operate. Taking decision and actually executing that are two different aspects. In India, many people starve even today. No food, shelter or security are provided to them. Streets are overcrowded with beggars and poor people. Women are abused, young girls are getting raped, and lots of corruption is practiced in almost every government sectors. God knows, what Congress has actually done for people than keeping the bills in file?

Rahul not only lacks experience but also promotes dynasty politics. A majority of people are looking for a clean and capable government. Narendra Modi has proved himself. Modi scores on merits, he did his best at economy, clean government and comprehensiveness of all in his leadership. Gandhi has one quality and that is dynasty. It is upto you people to choose your leader.
