Return Home, Ceasefire Holds: Omar Abdullah Hits Back at Pakistan's Shelling and Propaganda 2

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has urged residents who fled their homes during the recent Pakistani shelling to return, stating that a ceasefire understanding is now in place between the two nations. Calling the situation in the Poonch district “war-like,” Abdullah said 80 to 90 percent of the town had been evacuated amid the intense cross-border bombardment, but conditions had now stabilized.

Speaking to reporters after visiting affected areas in Poonch and Surankote, accompanied by cabinet colleague Javed Rana, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, and MLA Aijaz Jan, Abdullah underscored the need to construct permanent bunkers to safeguard civilians in future escalations. His sons, Zamir and Zahir, were also present during the visit, reflecting the CM’s personal commitment to those impacted.

Abdullah revealed that Poonch witnessed the worst shelling along the Line of Control, with shells falling directly inside populated town areas for the first time. Thirteen civilians lost their lives in the barrage. “My purpose today is to visit the homes where these tragedies occurred,” he said.

He praised the residents of Poonch for maintaining communal harmony in the face of provocation. “Despite such immense pressure, the people upheld unity among Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs,” he noted. Responding to questions about whether religious sites were targeted, Abdullah said the shelling was indiscriminate and reckless, hitting areas around madrassas, temples, dargahs, and gurdwaras, but not intentionally targeting them.

He dismissed Pakistan’s military propaganda, calling it a futile attempt to distort the truth. “They will keep pushing their propaganda, but the reality is known to you, to me, and to the world,” he remarked. Abdullah emphasized that while the situation on the ground has calmed over the past 24 hours, constant vigilance and preparedness remain crucial.

Directives have been issued to administrative heads in Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora to assess the structural damage and prepare compensation reports. “Until now, our priority was saving lives. Now, we’ll start assessing damages and delivering relief,” Abdullah assured. He also rejected reports that officials had deserted their posts during the shelling. “Not a single deputy commissioner left his station. These are baseless rumours being spread by some in the media,” he said.

After India's Strikes in Pakistan, PM Modi to Break Silence at 8 PM Tonight 4

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the nation at 8 PM IST on Monday, marking his first public statement since India’s high-impact retaliatory strikes on terror camps in Pakistan. The strikes, launched under ‘Operation Sindoor’, followed the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, in which 26 civilians, including a Nepalese national, lost their lives. The attack was executed by Pakistani terrorists linked to The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy outfit of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, reigniting India’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism.

In a decisive response, Indian armed forces targeted nine key terror facilities, including the infamous Markaz Taiba in Muridke—closely tied to the 2008 Mumbai attacks—and several others located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Modi’s address comes amid rising national and global interest, especially after the Indian military held two press briefings on Sunday and Monday revealing operational details of the strikes and confirming air raids on Pakistani airbases. With tensions at a boiling point, the Prime Minister’s speech is expected to lay out India’s next course of action and rally national sentiment.

Ranthambhore Welcomes Nalla's Ark, a New Creative Space for Wildlife Narratives 6

A new nonprofit venture, Nalla’s Ark, was launched in Ranthambhore on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, with the aim of supporting wildlife content creators through affordable infrastructure and community-based collaboration.

Set against the backdrop of one of India’s most prominent tiger reserves, the project addresses a gap in the field of wildlife storytelling—where creators often lack access to proper resources and platforms despite spending extensive time in forests documenting nature.

The initiative includes a premium homestay and content studio designed specifically for wildlife filmmakers, photographers, and travellers. Organisers say the project is focused on providing practical support rather than commercial services. According to its founders, many independent creators working in wildlife face challenges such as high travel and equipment costs, limited post-production facilities, and a lack of structured support to publish or monetise their work.

Launched officially during the 2025 Mother’s Day weekend, the space is set to begin hosting creators in the upcoming tourist season. The facility will offer:

  • Residential facilities tailored to wildlife travelers and conservationists
  • An editing lab equipped with industry-standard software
  • A multi-use space for film screenings, workshops, and educational programs
  • Opportunities for creators to lead guided tours or skill-sharing sessions
  • Access to a content-sharing platform aimed at highlighting authentic wildlife stories

The model promotes sustainability by offering pricing lower than standard tourism or commercial studio rates. Additionally, it aims to function as a collaborative hub, allowing contributors to engage in storytelling not only as a personal pursuit but also as part of a larger conservation and education network.

Nalla’s Ark will also operate an open-streaming platform to showcase the work of its community members, with an emphasis on narrative integrity and ecological awareness.

The initiative is currently inviting wildlife creators, travelers, and conservationists to engage with the project in various capacities, including as contributors, mentors, or residents.

By merging creative infrastructure with a grassroots approach, Nalla’s Ark seeks to enable more accessible and meaningful storytelling within India’s wildlife ecosystem.

Over 6.5 Lakh Calls on SC/ST Atrocities Helpline; UP Tops the List, Maharashtra Fails to Act 8

Since its inception in December 2021, the National Helpline Against Atrocities (NHAA) has received over 6.5 lakh calls concerning atrocities against Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), with nearly half originating from Uttar Pradesh, according to official data. Despite the massive number of calls, only 7,135 complaints have been formally registered, and 4,314 have been resolved to date.

The helpline, which operates 24/7 in Hindi, English, and regional languages, was launched to support the enforcement of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Calls include reports of physical assaults, caste-based abuse, land encroachments, social boycotts, and police apathy. However, many of the calls are informational or lack the required details to be converted into actionable grievances.

Uttar Pradesh leads with 3,33,516 calls, but only 1,825 have resulted in formal complaints, and 1,515 of those have been resolved. Bihar and Rajasthan follow, though Maharashtra stands out for its inaction—registering 268 grievances but resolving none. Goa, by contrast, reported just a single grievance with no resolution.

States like Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Haryana, and Karnataka also saw substantial call volumes, but response and resolution varied widely. Haryana showed notable efficiency with 379 of 392 grievances resolved, while Madhya Pradesh recorded a low resolution rate—just 282 of 1,630 grievances.

Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar, who launched the helpline, aimed to ensure prompt justice for marginalized communities. The NHAA also includes a web portal and mobile app, offering features like grievance tracking, feedback, and a dashboard for state-level performance. Each complaint gets a docket number, and authorities are expected to follow up with FIR registration, relief, and prosecution.

The system is programmed to send automated alerts and reminders to enforce accountability while also raising awareness of legal rights under the SC/ST Act and the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955. Yet, the vast disparity in resolution rates across states highlights ongoing challenges in the fight against caste-based injustice in India.

India Strikes Deep: Five Top LeT and JeM Terrorists Killed in Pakistan Under Operation Sindoor 10

India has identified five high-ranking terrorists linked to banned terror outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) who were killed during the Indian strike in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor on May 7, according to official sources.

Among the dead is Mudassar Khadian Khas, also known as Abu Jundal, the LeT commander who led Markaz Taiba in Muridke. His funeral, marked by full honors, was attended by high-ranking Pakistani officials, including a serving Lieutenant General, Punjab Police IG, and featured wreaths from Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The funeral was led by Hafiz Abdul Rauf of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, a globally designated terrorist.

Also neutralized was Hafiz Muhammed Jameel, the elder brother of JeM founder Maulana Masood Azhar. He headed the Subhan Allah Markaz in Bahawalpur and was deeply involved in radicalizing youth and fundraising for JeM operations.

Mohammad Yusuf Azhar, also known by several aliases including Ustad Ji and Mohd Salim, was another major target eliminated. A brother-in-law of Masood Azhar, he was wanted for his role in the IC-814 hijacking and several deadly attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.

Khalid, alias Abu Akasha of LeT, who was involved in weapons smuggling from Afghanistan and terror strikes in Kashmir, was also killed. His funeral in Faisalabad was attended by top Pakistani army personnel and the city’s Deputy Commissioner.

The fifth terrorist, Mohammad Hassan Khan, son of Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri—the JeM’s operational commander in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir—was a key planner of cross-border terrorist activities and was eliminated in the operation that targeted nine terror camps across Pakistan and PoK.

India’s decisive strike under Operation Sindoor has delivered a severe blow to terror infrastructure in Pakistan, eliminating some of the most influential figures behind cross-border terrorism.

Sleepless but Unshaken: Rajasthan Border Villagers Brave Drone Onslaught with Steely Faith in Indian 12

Residents in Rajasthan’s border districts are enduring sleepless nights but remain resolute in their belief that the Indian Armed Forces will keep them safe, despite escalating drone attacks from Pakistan. A new wave of drone activity on Friday night triggered sirens and complete blackouts across regions including Jaisalmer and Barmer, yet no casualties were reported thanks to the swift interception and destruction of the drones mid-air by India’s air defense systems.

“The way our forces destroyed the drones mid-air has boosted our confidence that the attacks from Pakistan will not harm us,” said Jalam Singh, a resident of Jaisalmer, echoing a sentiment widely shared by villagers despite two nights of continuous tension.

Entire households complied with blackout orders, ensuring not a single light was visible. Singh’s wife Babita remarked, “It is our duty to follow these guidelines; it’s for our safety.” The atmosphere has drawn comparisons to the COVID-19 lockdowns, with residents returning home early and staying indoors, aware that they are living in a high-alert zone.

“There’s no fear like there was in 1971,” said retired Forest Ranger Jaithmal Singh, attributing the current calm to the armed forces’ preparedness and the availability of real-time updates via television and mobile phones—unlike the rumor-fueled panic of past conflicts.

After Friday night’s drone activity, suspicious objects were found on Saturday morning in Baytoo, Balotra, and Badoda village in Jaisalmer, intensifying security checks in the area.

The blackout in Jodhpur, originally scheduled for midnight, was advanced following the attacks, and similar alerts were issued in Sriganganagar and Phalodi. The Pakistani drones had also attempted to target airbases in Phalodi, Nal, and Uttarlai on the night of May 7–8, but Indian forces successfully neutralized all threats before any damage could occur.

Despite the stress and disruption, villagers across Rajasthan’s border regions remain confident. “Our forces are vigilant and capable of teaching Pakistan a lesson,” said Umesh Acharya, summing up the prevailing mood in the face of an unrelenting threat.

Pakistan Breaches Ceasefire Again: Shelling Rocks Uri and Gurez, Tensions Soar Along LoC 14

Tensions flared once again along the Line of Control (LoC) as Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire in the Uri and Gurez sectors of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, triggering intense shelling in the region. According to official sources, the Pakistani army specifically targeted the Charunda and Hatlanga areas in Uri, located in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir.

Simultaneously, another breach was reported in the Bagtore area of the Gurez sector in Bandipora district. While heavy exchange of fire continued in both regions, no casualties have been reported so far, though the situation remains volatile. Further updates are awaited as the conflict escalates.

The latest provocation comes barely 24 hours after a woman was killed and two members of her family were injured due to cross-border shelling by Pakistani troops in Baramulla and Kupwara districts. These repeated violations threaten to undo the fragile calm along the LoC and risk wider military confrontation between the two nations.

A Nation United: India Stands Tall Against Terror, Misinformation, and Hostile Provocations 16

At this moment in our nation’s history, every Indian heart swells with pride. The courage and precision shown by the Indian Armed Forces in thwarting Pakistan’s aggression is not just commendable — it is heroic. With unwavering resolve, our defence forces have delivered a befitting response to repeated provocations, once again proving why they are the true guardians of Bharat.

What unfolded over the past few days was not an isolated incident — it was part of a larger pattern of aggression, one that has long exposed Pakistan’s role as a breeding ground for terrorism. The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force stood united in protecting our soil from a series of aerial strikes and infiltration attempts near the Line of Control and our western borders. Our security agencies have consistently maintained that Pakistan shelters terrorists and aids their infiltration across our borders — recent events only confirm this dangerous truth.

Yet, while the military front remains firm and fearless, a parallel war is being waged online. Social media platforms have been flooded with memes, unverified videos, and misleading narratives — spreading fear, confusion, and falsehoods faster than facts. In such times, the real challenge is not just the enemy across the border, but also the misinformation that weakens our morale from within.

Let’s be clear — India is not just prepared, we are actively defending and counter-attacking where needed. Our forces are not just reactive; they are strategic, swift, and forward-looking. Following Operation Sindoor, where nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK were neutralized, Pakistan retaliated with a barrage of drone and missile strikes on Indian military targets. But thanks to India’s formidable air defence systems — S-400 Triumf, Akash, Barak-8, and our integrated counter-UAS grid — every attempt was intercepted and neutralized.

The scale of attempted damage was significant. Pakistani systems tried to target cities including Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Pathankot, Bhuj, and others. But not a single Indian military base fell. Instead, India’s precision response took out a Pakistani air defence system in Lahore — a reminder that any act of hostility will be met with greater force.

The Indian government’s swift coordination has been equally commendable. In Punjab, cabinet ministers were immediately dispatched to border districts to ensure hospitals, fire stations, and essential supply chains were fully functional. Every aspect of civilian readiness is being reviewed — from rations to medical aid — showing a government and military working in complete synergy.

The attempt to spread panic online was equally met with resilience. The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check Unit swiftly busted viral fake news — from false claims of ATM shutdowns to fabricated explosions — most of which originated from Pakistani social media handles aimed at sowing fear. But Indians are not so easily misled. Today, we are more alert, aware, and united than ever before.

And in a moment that gave every Indian goosebumps, two women officers — Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Army and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the IAF — briefed the media about Operation Sindoor. Their presence not only underscored the success of our military but symbolized the historic journey of women in the armed forces — a victory over decades of institutional and societal bias.

Let us remember — victory is not just in defence, but in unity. The celebration of this valour does not lie in noise, but in national service. Instead of extravagant events or mindless forwarding of unverified content, let us contribute meaningfully — to PM CARES, Army Welfare Funds, and verified aid initiatives. Let us be worthy citizens of a nation where soldiers risk their lives for us every day.

As proud Indians, we stand resolute — with our forces, with our government, and with our fellow citizens. No lie, no enemy, no cowardly strike can break the spirit of Bharat.

IPL Halted Indefinitely as India-Pakistan Conflict Escalates: "Cricket Can't Go On During War," Says BCCI 18

In a dramatic move reflecting the gravity of the current geopolitical crisis, the Indian Premier League (IPL) was suspended indefinitely on Friday as tensions between India and Pakistan reached a boiling point. The decision came a day after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala was abruptly called off following air raid alerts in nearby cities, including Jammu and Pathankot.

“It does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war,” a senior BCCI official told PTI, confirming the suspension. The tournament, originally scheduled to conclude with the final in Kolkata on May 25, has been left hanging with 12 league matches and four knockout games still to be played.

The IPL’s abrupt halt follows India’s missile strikes on terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. On Thursday night, large parts of Punjab and Chandigarh were plunged into blackout amid explosion-like sounds and air raid sirens, prompting authorities to enforce emergency protocols.

The ripple effect was felt beyond Indian borders. Earlier in the day, the Pakistan Super League was shifted to the UAE following drone attacks reported in Lahore and Rawalpindi, allegedly launched by Indian forces.

The growing military escalation has alarmed foreign players, many of whom have decided to leave India. A total of 62 overseas cricketers were signed up by the ten IPL franchises in last year’s auction, and teams are now arranging immediate departures.

Teams like the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, previously stationed in Dharamsala, are currently en route to the national capital by road. Friday’s scheduled clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Lucknow has also been called off.

This unprecedented suspension of India’s premier cricket league underscores the magnitude of the regional conflict and raises serious questions about the immediate future of international sporting events on the subcontinent.

Punjab Locks Down: Schools Shut, Police Leaves Cancelled Amid Border Tensions with Pakistan 20

In a sweeping response to escalating India-Pakistan border tensions, the Punjab government on Thursday announced a three-day closure of all educational institutions and cancelled the leaves of police personnel statewide. The decision follows India’s recent airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, triggered by the April 22 massacre in Pahalgam, and Islamabad’s intensifying ceasefire violations, which have already claimed 16 civilian lives.

Authorities in Tarn Taran and Fazilka districts have banned firecrackers during weddings and public events, while all public gatherings across border areas have been suspended. A control room has been set up to assist residents, and several districts have issued advisories warning of strict action against hoarding and black marketing of essentials like milk, fuel, and medicines.

Chandigarh, the shared capital of Punjab and Haryana, also ordered school closures till Saturday. Panjab University postponed its scheduled May 9, 10, and 12 exams. In Panchkula, Haryana, all educational institutions were ordered shut for Friday and Saturday.

Punjab’s Director General of Police mandated that no police officer may take leave unless in exceptional circumstances, calling for full preparedness in border districts. Minister Harjot Singh Bains confirmed school closures in a post on X, citing “evolving security concerns.”

The state government has intensified surveillance, launched a crackdown on hoarders, and formed task forces to ensure uninterrupted supply chains. In Gurdaspur, a nightly blackout from 9 PM has been enforced until further notice.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has suspended the ceremonial retreat at Attari, Hussainiwala, and Sadki border check posts. Amritsar Police have deployed quick response teams, urging citizens to report any suspicious activity.

As the border situation remains volatile, Punjab is on high alert, reinforcing its position as India’s second line of defence. Minister Aman Arora stated that Punjab is prepared to support the Army in any confrontation with Pakistan, ensuring the state stands firm and vigilant.
