People of Maharashtra are in favour of the BJP and its alliance, which will secure a big majority in the forthcoming Assembly polls, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence on Friday. His remarks come amid questions being raised whether the BJP and its ally, Shiv Sena, will contest the polls together as both the parties have been staking claim for the chief minister’s post.
Fadnavis, who arrived here as part of his ‘Mahajanadesh Yatra‘, also took swipe at the NCP over its similar pre-election mass contact initiative called ‘Shivswarajya Yatra‘, saying his outreach campaign had filled other parties with enthusiasm.
“The people’s mandate is strongly in favour of the BJP and our alliance in the country and in Maharashtra. And I am sure, we will secure big majority out of it,” Fadnavis said, without naming the Shiv Sena.
Fadnavis claimed that people feel the BJP-led government alone can fulfill their aspirations and therefore, his yatra has been receiving huge response. The chief minister alleged that Maharashtra lagged behind in terms of growth during the Congress-NCP rule, but it found itself among the top three states in the country on the development index during his government.
He also listed several measures the central and the state governments took for the welfare of the people.
Fadnavis, who came under attack from the NCP over his yatra in the context of the flood situation in Maharashtra, took a dig at the opposition party. He said his campaign received a huge response from the people unlike the NCP’s.
“I am happy that after we launched the yatra, several parties were filled with enthusiasm. They also started their yatra. My best wishes to them. It is the BJP which had started the tradition of yatra,” he added.
Fadnavis said he covered 10 districts as part of the ‘Mahajanadesh Yatra’ before it was suspended in view of the flood situation in western Maharashtra earlier this month.
“I began the second phase from Dhule on August 22. We have fanned 43 Assembly segments till now, covering 1,165 km distance.
“In the second phase, we will cover North Maharashtra, Marathwada and one Vidarbha district. The yatra will culminate in Solapur,” he added.
In the third phase, Fadnavis said, he will cover Konkan and Western Maharashtra districts between September 13 and 19.
On Thursday afternoon, as the Spicejet flight SG-634 Boeing 737 aircraft waited on the taxiway N1 to enter the runway for take off to Bengaluru, passengers and crew of the aircraft and others were shocked to see an unauthorised person moving around on the ground below.
He had scaled the perimeter walls of the Mumbai airport which has slums on north and eastern sides, jumped down, strolled nonchalantly around 50 metres to the taxiway, gaped at the engine, touched the huge wheels and went around the undercarriage of the aircraft.
The man even expressed triumph over his feat by raising both his arms even as an airport jeep reached the place to keep an eye on him. But the security personnel did not step out of the vehicle to avoid getting too close to the aircraft engine.

Unhindered, the intruder then walked to the tail-end and came out where he was caught by the security team, barely minutes after he came on his adventure, even as his sojourn was recorded in CCTVs and some passenger mobile phones.
A thorough search on him revealed nothing including any identification, but he claimed to have entered the restricted security zone “only to see the airplane” at close quarters.
He was later identified as a ‘mentally ill’, 24-year-old man from Sion, who recently even clambered atop a stationery BEST bus in his locality.
The family explained to the police that he indulged in such antics when he doesn’t take his medicines on time. He is suspected to have entered the airport by climbing on the mobile toilets lining the airport wall.
He was immediately taken into custody by the CISF. “As per the initial investigation, the person is of unsound mind and it was his dream to see an aircraft from close vicinity. Nothing suspicious (was found) in the incident,” a police official said.
The CISF and Mumbai Police have further beefed up security both inside and outside the Mumbai airport.

Pakistan media has that Pakistan will move (which it is entitled to as per IoA ad 1948 UN-resolution) the ‘International Court of Justice’ (ICJ) over human rights (HR) violations by India in Kashmir valley. This is the most sensible decision the Pakistan Government led by PM Imran Khan has taken. If properly drafted and contested then this petition of Pakistan in the ICJ can not only restore the HR of Kashmiris but can also solve the chronic & gory Kashmir problem as explained below:-
(1)- First of all Imran should understand that this chronic & gory Kashmir problem is the result of over-smartness of the governments of India & Pakistan and the people of united J&K on both sides of LoC. India & people of J&K have gone one step further where they have illegally incorporated in Indian Constitution and in J&K constitution that J&K is like any other State and an integral part of India (as explained at https://wadikinews.com/public-interest-writ-petition-under-article-226-of-the-constitution-with-respondents-i-the-union-of-india-ii-the-state-of-jk/ ). The ‘Instrument of Accession’ (IoA) demands that the fate of united J&K is to be decided by plebiscite but neither of these three parties (India, Pak & United J&K) ever tried or talked seriously for plebiscite due to various logically-untenable reasons despite IoA & 1948 UN-resolution about Plebiscite.
(2)- Imran should now approach the ICJ not only for restoring the HR of Kashmiris [who since August 4, 2019 have been arbitrarily detained, arrested in hundreds and entire valley is being denied their fundamental rights (and human rights as per human rights laws about UN including ICCPR) of free expression and assembly and even communication of the most to outside world] but also for getting Plebiscite conducted in united J&K.
(3)- Imran should not bring false ego of Pakistan in the way of plebiscite only because it will require:-
(i)- Outsiders-free Pakistan side of J&K. Rather Pakistan should submit to ICJ that Pakistan is prepared to make Pakistan side of J&K outsiders-free in order to facilitate free & fair plebiscite in order to ascertain whether people of united J&K want to live with India or with Pakistan .
(ii)- Entire united J&K under administrative control of India for carrying-out free & fair plebiscite. This is the condition of IoA and this was the condition of 1948 UN resolution too for plebiscite. Rather Pakistan should submit to ICJ that UN observers should be deployed in United J&K in adequate numbers (which is the condition of 1948 UN-resolution too) so that India does not misuse its administrative apparatus to tilt plebiscite in India’s favor in a legally objectionable manner.
(4)- Imran told US president Trump (during his visit to US) to the effect that – “[If Trump mediates to solve chronic & gory Kashmir problem then he will have prayers of ~ 1.5 billion people]”. Now Imran should appreciate that after ill-conceived acts of Government of India (GoI) about laughable, legally-absurd and meaningless amendment & repeal of Article 370, 35-A of the Constitution, bifurcation of the State of J&K into two union territories (which are merely a storm in tea cup and have no legal value) but which have brought India and Pakistan on the brink of catastrophic nuclear war (as is evident from the war cries in both the countries) if at such explosive juncture Imran takes Pakistan to ICJ with a prayer for not only restoring the human-rights of Kashmiris but also for solving the chronic & gory Kashmir problem through plebiscite as mandated by IoA and also by 1948 UN Resolution then he will have prayers of these ~ 1.5 billion people of Indo-Pak region.
It is hoped that Imran will behave in a humane way (as mentioned above) befitting a recipient of ‘Nobel Peace Prize’ (whether he gets it or not) in order to avoid the Indo-Pak region and its neighborhood from a catastrophic & otherwise-highly-likely nuclear war.

The Asia-Pacific Group of the the global watchdog for terror financing and money laundering has put Pakistan in the Enhanced Expedited Follow Up List (Blacklist) for its failure to meet its standards, officials said on Friday. It is another big blow for Pakistan as the country is facing severe economic crisis.
The Asia Pacific Group (APG) of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has also found that Pakistan was non-compliant on 32 of the 40 compliance parameters of terror financing and money laundering.
The FATF APG meeting was held in Canberra, Australia and the discussions lasted over seven hours over two days.
“The APG has placed Pakistan in the Enhanced Expedited Follow Up List (Black List) for failure to meet its standards,” an Indian official privy to the development said.
On 11 effectiveness parameters of terror financing and money laundering, Pakistan was adjudged as low on 10. The official said despite its efforts, Pakistan could not convince the 41-member plenary to upgrade it on any parameter.
Now, Pakistan has to focus on avoiding the blacklist in October 2019, when the 15-month timeline ends on the FATF’s 27-point action plan, another official said.
People of India love their festivals and celebrate even the less significant ones with enthusiasm. India is a land of different religions and cultures; hence, every religion has its own festivals and customs. Despite the diversity, every festival is celebrated together by the people of various faiths and beliefs. Festivals of India reflect the rich cultural heritage of its people; their faith in each other’s religious beliefs; mutual harmony among the people of India and their love for the nation and its heritage.
The day of Janmashtami is a grand festival celebrated all over India to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna, who is believed to be the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu which is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm in India. In the Hindu calendar, the festival always falls on Ashtami, which is the eighth day of Krishna Pasha or the waning moon. In Sanskrit, the ‘eighth day’ translates to ‘Ashtami’. This is where the word ‘Janmashtami’ comes from. It is celebrated across the country, but the festivities in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh especially Mathura and Vrindavan are particularly splendid. This festival initially originated in Gokul and slowly engulfed the Mathura region and later on the whole Uttar Pradesh state. And now even, the whole country celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna as he is the epitome of love, faith, friendship, and peace. Lord Krishna stated that whenever there will be prominence of evil deeds in this universe, he will reincarnate in various looks and attire to show the path of right and peace to people. The word ‘Krushna’ is used instead of ‘Krishna’ as it is more appropriate and in accordance with Sanskrit pronunciation but people are more familiar with the word “Krishna”. The philosophy preached by Krishna is given in the Gita. ‘In His philosophy Krishna has shown the appropriate admixture of attachment and detachment.
Sri Krishna is considered as the one of the most powerful human incarnations of the Lord Vishnu. The Mahabharat is the most important part of Krishna’s life. Historians and scholars say that Lord Krishna took birth in a cellular jail in Dwapar Yug biologically to Vasudeva and Devaki. But Vasudeva had to cross the Yamuna River in a stormy night to pass on his child to a friend so save the child from the evil hands of Kansa. It is said that Lord Vishnu took the appearance of a human being and incarnated on this earth as Sri Krishna. He took the human structure to relieve humanity form troubles The Hindu epics are full of brave acts of Sri Krishna. According to Hindu belief, when the world getting engulfed with evil, god himself will take on human form to come purge the world and lead people back to the right path. Krishna inspired many followers both in his lifetime and all the times following. His teachings have travelled across the world and he’s popular god for people of all ages.
The actual celebration of Janmashtami takes place during the midnight as Sri Krishna is believed to be born on a dark, stormy and windy night to end the rule and violence of his uncle, Kansa. The most beautifully decorated temple that attracts admiring crowds from across the country is Dwarkadhish, dedicated to Lord Krishna. All over India this day is celebrated with devotional songs and dances, pujas, arti, blowing of the Conch and rocking the cradle of baby Sri Krishna. Rasa leela, is a unique aspect in regions of Mathura and Vrindavan, and regions following Vaishnavism in Manipur. The occasion is marked by placing a statue of the deity in the cradle and bathing it in panchamrit made up from milk, ghee, honey, gangajal and tulsi leaves. This panchamrit is distributed as prasad to the devotees. A tradition of Dahi Handi is extensively followed in several parts of India. Dahi Handi is an earthen container filled with yogurt. On this day, people form groups knot the ‘Dahi Handi’ at an elevation. Handis are set up all around the city, and groups of youngsters, called Govinda Pathaks, tour around in trucks trying to smash as many handis as possible during the day. The main significance of Janmashtami is to promote goodwill as it is to knock down evil intentions. Krishna Jayanti also celebrates togetherness.
Janmashtami symbolises faith and unity and brings much of delight and a feeling of harmony. The festive occasion brings people together when families and friends join in to celebrate it. Really the festivals like Janmashtami are a great way to bond with the near and dear ones and also to know about the country’s rich cultural past.

The day of reckoning saw Raj Thackeray is in line for an ED inquiry. It remains to be seen how the ED turn him into a harassed victim or his cadres will, as usual, lose the plot and take law into their own hands. Whatever be the outcome, the government left no stone unturned obviously deploying police and paramilitary forces barricading roads and taking preventive measures. The trouble shooters were taken to custody to avoid untoward incident happening. The fact of the matter is that an MNS style stir had been planned to take on the administration and its Sainiks had decided to descend in droves outside ED office.

Independence Day and Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of ‘Swaraj’
India has celebrated its 73rd Independence Day on August 15, 2019. As we celebrated our 73 years of independence, we were reminded of Mahatma Gandhi‘s vision of ‘Swaraj’. On this day in the year 1947, India became a sovereign and independent nation and it was a new beginning for us as our country was freed from the British rule at last. On every Independence Day, we remember the sacrifices, pains and struggles of all our freedom fighters, who fought bravely for the freedom of our nation. We also pay our homage to them on this day. Many of our freedom fighters even gave up their lives to free the nation from the tyranny of the British rule.

Government should adopt Dadar Athornan Institute of Parsi community
It refers to media-reports about the Dadar Athornan Institute set up about a century ago to train persons from fast-eliminating Parsi community as Parsi priests by admitting students at an early childhood age from class I to class X, on verge of closure because of shortage of funds. Since population of most-talented Parsi community of the world having sharply declined, funds from the community are not enough to run the Institute.
Concern on fast declining Parsi population have been raised again and again including even by the then President Pranab Mukerji. Apart from other steps taken to increase Parsi population, it is time that Maharashtra government takes over responsibility for funds to run the only institute to train students as Parsi priests namely The Dadar Athornan Institute also as a gesture towards the community which has provided most talented persons in every field including cricket, trade, industry and even in service-sector for taking up big projects in its dedicating spirit towards society as a whole where the basic principle is to live for the society rather than for self.
It is also time to amend articles 331 and 333 of the Constitution providing at least one of the two reserved seats in Lok Sabha presently for Anglo-Indians only to a distinguished personality from Parsi community.

HC seized with PIL on frequent change in sizes of currency notes
It refers to the Bombay High Court asking Reserve Bank of India RBI to file a reply on a Public-Interest-Litigation PIL filed by The National Association for the Blind, seeking RBI assurance that sizes of currency-notes will not be changed in future, because it creates problem for visually challenged people who take time to get familiar with new sized currency.
But it was after more than half-century that currency-size was last changed in the year 1967. Problem was caused because new-sized currency in different denominations was introduced in phases ranging to more than two years after it started just after demonetisation of old currency notes of rupees 500 and 1000 on 08.11.2016. RBI should rather assure that in future currency-size if required to be changed will be done in one go for notes of all denominations.
Main problem was in respect of coins when new two-rupee coins were introduced some years ago exactly in same size, shape and weight of then prevailing old one-rupee coins, where coin-blanks of prepared for (old) one-rupee coins were used to mint new-sized two-rupee coins. It created big confusion and problem even to normal people what to say about visually challenged people. RBI should also ensure that similar sized coins in different denominations may not be simultaneously in circulation.
Bombay High Court should also simultaneously take cognizance of totally unpopular and at times unacceptable coins of rupees ten and now-to-be introduced twenty-rupee coins. System should be to have either coins or currency-notes for a particular denomination.
RBI should stop minting of coins of rupees ten and twenty, and instead introduce plastic-currency with longer life in these two denominations as assured long back by the then Union Minister of Finance Namo Narain Meena on 12.03.2013 in a written reply in Rajya Sabha. One-rupee notes re-started just for bureaucratic craze of bearing their signatures should be discontinued to be printed as these are not even seen by members of public ever since these were re-issued on 06.03.2015 after a gap of two decades.

These days, many speculations are made in the name of Chhagan Bhujbal that he is leaving NCP, but the truth is that in spite of being victimised he remains in the party. Chhagan Bhujbal was not only kept in jail but he was humiliated and misbehaved by the cops on several occasion. He was booked in a money laundering case but recently bailed out by the court. Bhujbal who was arrested in March 2016, had to pay a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh to secure his bail. Certain conditions were imposed on Bhujbal’s release on bail, including that he will appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED), whenever summoned for questioning. Citing ailing health, Bhujbal had approached the high court in January this year seeking bail on the ground that his custody was not required any more as the chargesheet has already been filed. Bhujbal and his nephew Sameer Bhujbal used to channel money to illegal companies owned by them, the agency had alleged. Sameer was also arrested in the case and is in jail. He has also filed a bail plea in the High Court.
The politician who has come a long way, from being a one-time vegetable vendor to one of the most powerful politicians in the state, was put behind bars to face dishonor. The Maharashtra Sadan scam, the Kalina library land case and embezzlement of funds and misuse of property in the Mumbai Educational Trust case together may prove too much for the feisty OBC leader to battle. He had to answer for alleged kickbacks in the public works department and for amassing several properties. This time the finger points to Bhujbal helping his whole family. The state Anti-Corruption Bureau has even named him in its FIR. After enjoying a long run in politics, Bhujbal may have been looking forward to spending his evenings listening to his favourite old Hindi film songs. But he now has to clean up the mess created by his family members. A man who got Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray arrested, failed to rein in his son Pankaj and nephew Sameer.
Bhujbal who lived on his terms, loved to live the way he wants, very filmy way. Once he had gone in for a complete image makeover. He had gone under the knife, to get a wrinkle free neck and face. He opted for workout, at the same time gathered many riches through various treaties. Rumors began to circulate of Bhujbal’s nephew Sameer being involved in corrupt deals, and slowly even Pankaj’s name cropped up. Earlier, in 2004, Bhujbal had to step down as Deputy Chief Minister and lost his reputation in the multi-crore Abdul Karim Telgi Fake stamp paper case. Bhujbal was then told by mentor Sharad Pawar to control his nephew or else Bhujbal’s credibility and career both would be ruined. But we all know blood is thicker than water, especially in politics where it has been proven time and again.
Bhujbal was arrogant and thankless; he was never in good books of people or his people. NCP as a party has allowed its leaders to rule independently in their constituencies, to treat them as their own fiefdoms -Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule, Sunil Tatkare, Chhagan Bhujbal to name just a few. They were taught a harsh lesson in the last several elections, but these leaders have received far too much patronage from their mentor. However, the once crafty Pawar could not see his own kin and party men ruining the party he formed. When he returned after the Telgi scam, Bhujbal felt a bit abbreviated, let down by his mentor, and started getting nostalgic. He realised the late Bal Thackeray was the only true leader who understood him. Leaders like Ajit Pawar grew stronger in the NCP and they baited Bhujbal for going soft on the Shiv Sena. Finally in 2014, when Devendra Fadanvis launched an attack on NCP’s corruption, Pawar sacrificed Bhujbal over Ajit Pawar. Bhujbal is a lonely man today. He fell out with Uddhav Thackeray and also lost a friend in Raj after the arrest of Thackeray Sr. Bhujbal got immense support from the citizenry, though many from his own party did not support the arrest. It is a known fact that Pawar and Thackeray were friends and Pawar politically helped the Sena and Thackeray. Today Uddhav is completely driven by Pawar. Pawar indeed supported Bhujbal too last time when he was in trouble, but not this time. Worse, his rivals within the NCP want him finished.
Bhujbal’s battle is a lonely and hard one. He undervalued Kirit Somaiya and Anjali Damania and their allegations. Bhujbal took for granted that he could not be touched, but he had to face the music. The politician who has come a long way, from being a one-time vegetable vendor to one of the most powerful politicians in the state, faced big troubles and left out today. There was a time when he was feared in the corridors of power. Shiv Sena leader and former state chief minister Manohar Joshi dreaded the very sight of Bhujbal when he became the leader of the opposition after breaking away from the Sena. On his way up the political ladder Bhujbal helped many, but after moving to the top he forgot it gets very lonely out there. He really has no true friends. He distanced from Shiv Sainiks, after he left the Sena. The rivalries he made because of his failure to rein in his nephew and son have left Bhujbal alone to fight a long and staining battle. However, Bhujbal has always fought back in the past; he will do it yet again. Bhujbal’s son Pankaj met Uddhav Thackeray, the meeting came five days after Chhagan Bhujbal, was granted bail. There are possibilities of Chhagan Bhujbal shifting his political ideology. NCP is paying prices for the utter failure by Congress led government in Maharashtra. Once these turncoats decimated the parties they were in, now they are out to repeat the same with BJP and Sena with their presence that is inevitably going to happen with admitting them back to their fold.

Chhagan Bhujbal has refuted the rumours of his joining Shiv Sena. While speaking to Afternoon Voice he said, “I am taking rest as my health is not good, but wondering from where journalists are making me join Shiv Sena, I have no such intention at this moment.” He further stated that I have no control on rumour mongers.
Former veteran of Shiv Sena, once upon a time was a blue eyed boy of Balasaheb Thackeray. Due to some internal party issues, he left Sena and joined Pawar. Now the talks of Bhujbal doing a ‘ghar wapsi’ have been doing rounds for a while now. Afternoon Voice reached Bhujbal and made sure there is no truth in this news. He is in Sharad Pawar’s NCP, as its tallest leader and former Deputy Chief Minister.
Chhagan Bhujbal said, “I am not well. That is why I am taking rest at home. I don’t know from where these rumours are coming. I have no intention to join Shiv Sena. Right now, I need rest for my health. I don’t know why this news is spread about me. We need to find it out.”
Bhujbal who started his political career in the Shiv Sena, rose to ranks in the party from a corporator to a mayor and member of legislative assembly. Angered by the elevation of party colleague Manohar Joshi as the leader of opposition, Bhujbal broke away from Shiv Sena and engineered a split in the party to join the Congress.
Bhujbal was made the leader of opposition during the Shiv Sena-BJP government in Maharashtra. After the formation of the NCP, Bhujbal was made the president of the state unit and when the NCP-Congress alliance came to power, he was made the Deputy CM and Home Minister.
NCP Mumbai President Nawab Malik said, “Everybody has choice of joining wherever he wants. No political party is losing any vote bank or losing any thing if leaders are leaving the party. Gujarat is a good example where so many leaders from the Congress have joined the BJP. But the Congress is still having the same percentage of vote, what they had before. As per my knowledge, Bhujbal has already denied to join the Shiv Sena or planning anything like that.”
Embroiled the Telgi Fake stamp paper scam, Bhujbal had to quit. He made a comeback as Deputy CM after the erstwhile Deputy CM RR Patil resigned post 26/11 attacks. Bhujbal’s name again ran into controversy when he, along with his nephew Sameer, were named in a money-laundering scam. Bhujbal was arrested and was in jail for more than two years.
Majid Memon, NCP MP said, “Information comes from everywhere, it’s a baseless rumour.”
All the while, Bhujbal and his supporters nursed a grudge against NCP leadership for not standing behind him during the time but that has never motivated him to give up on NCP. In last few days, leaders like Sachin Ahir, known as close to Bhujbal, have quit the party and joined Shiv Sena. Bhujbal, who hails from the prominent Mali community, enjoys sizable clout in Mumbai as well as his home town Nashik.
Arvind Bhosale, Shiv Sena MLA said, “When Bhujbal will join Shiv Sena, media will be the first to know about it. Uddhav Thackeray has already said ‘at the right time, you will get the right answer’.”
The MNS leader reached the ED office around 11.30 am, accompanied by wife Sharmila, son Amit and daughter in law Mitali. After Raj Thackeray entered the office alone, his family members camped at a nearby hotel.
As per reports, the ED has summoned Raj Thackeray in a case pertaining to alleged irregularities related to Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) loan to Kohinoor CTNL. Mumbai police imposed Section 144 of CrPC outside the ED office and in some parts of Dadar, where the MNS chief resides and parts of central Mumbai.
Raj Thackeray has been summoned by the ED in connection with its probe into the alleged irregularities relating to loans and equity investment worth over Rs 450 crore by IL&FS in Kohinoor CTNL Infrastructure Company. The firm was founded by former Maharashtra chief minister and Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi’s son Unmesh, Raj Thackeray and Raj’s close aide and builder Rajan Shirodkar to purchase and develop the land of the defunct Kohinoor Mill. Raj reportedly sold off his stake in 2008. Unmesh has been questioned by the ED for three days since August 19.
Opposition parties, including the Congress and the NCP, have rallied behind Raj, terming the ED notice a vendetta politics by the ruling BJP. Raj Thackeray had held several rallies ahead of the Lok Sabha elections targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led government in Maharashtra. He, however, had spared Sena from any direct criticism. He recently also met Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee to muster support for his demand that Electronic Voting Machines should not be used for polling.
