A 16-year-old tribal girl, who allegedly had a relationship with a visually impaired man, delivered a baby after the panchayat allowed her go for a live-in relationship.
The girl was admitted in serious condition at Bilaspur’s government medical college where the baby died during treatment.
The report said that the girl who was not mentally sound was in a physical relationship with the man and the panchayat asked her to go for a live-in relationship after she was found pregnant. The panchayat also asked the man to take the responsibility of the girl and allow her in his house.
Although no case has been lodged at the police station, the matter came to light after the death of the infant.
The report states that live-in relationships are quite common in Jashpur.
