Mitthu, a 28-year-old parrot which had reportedly helped the family of Vijay Sharma identify the killers of his wife earlier this year, died after being attacked by a cat on Sunday.
A funeral function was organized for the bird at the Sharma residence in Balkeshwar which was attended by family and locals as they bid a teary adieu to their dear pet.
Nivedita (26), daughter of Vijay Sharma who was very attached to the parrot after the death of her mother, could not hold back her tears while garlanding a photo of Mitthu. Her father said no one has eaten anything at home since Sunday as Mitthu is no more to the taste and food and give its reaction to it.
“He was the life of our family. He was with us since 28 years through all ups and downs. Most importantly, I can never forget how he helped me in catching the killers of my wife,” said Sharma, editor of an evening newspaper in town.
